“Fuck!” I screamed as I twisted my ankle. I didn’t have time to stop, so I hobbled over to my clothes and put them on as quickly as I could. It was close, but I was able to get everything back on before the group of hikers arrived at the falls.
I sat down on a rock and could feel my ankle pulsating in pain. I stood up to see if I could walk on it. Thankfully, I had my hiking poles to support me. Otherwise, I would have been unable to hike back on my own.
I was able to hike after all, but my pace was considerably slower due to my injured ankle. I had a foolproof plan to make it back before sunrise. The problem was that my plan didn’t account for the fact I might get injured.
