“Hmm.” She hugged his arm as they walked back toward the bar where his friends and family waited. “You may be right, and it certainly sounds good. And if it’s true, you’d make a hell of a psychic.”
“I’m not a psychic.” He paused in the shadows just before they stepped into the ring of light and activity around the pool bar. He snapped his fingers, producing a small shower of sparks, and laughed at the wonder in her eyes. “I’m a magician.” And then he took her hand and pulled her, unresisting, into his family circle.

Michelle placed third in the Hyperink Romance Writing Contest for her short story “Life After”. Michelle has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, three children and their rapidly growing collection of pets.
