“You don’t look too happy.” Erin dropped her legs to the ground. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry I got pissed off at you.” He blew out a breath. “I hadn’t counted on being left out since we shared a bed.”

Erin met his eyes. “I guess we didn’t talk about everything, did we?” She licked her lips. “Are you okay with this? The sharing and the ménages?”

“Yes.” And he was. He wouldn’t have said it if he didn’t mean it. “As long as it makes you happy.”

She grinned. “I’m a very happy girl.”

He glanced out the window. “You have to understand, though, that I still need some space every now and then. D and I talked about it. The ménages are okay, but the sharing is awkward for us. I don’t want to sleep next to you when you’ve been with someone else and not me.”

She nodded. “That makes sense. I’m sorry I didn’t think about that before.”

Blaine thought about their ménage earlier that morning. He wasn’t so sure that ménage would have happened then if he hadn’t gotten mad at her. Changing the subject, he asked, “Are you going to be okay here if I leave?”

“I don’t know.” She propped her chin on her fist. “I’ll miss you.”

He smiled. Erin was the only woman that could make his insides gooey, not that he’d ever admit that aloud. He’d had his fair share of lovers and had many entertaining times. But Erin was always different. She was hot, no doubt, and he loved her. He always had. He knew that the first month he went away, wishing every second he’d asked her to come with him.

“If I asked you to go with me, what would you say?”

She smiled. “I’d love to go with you, but I’m not about to leave this ranch in the hands of anyone other than me or you. It might not be standing when we got back.”

“If I asked you five years ago, would you have said no?”

She swallowed hard. “No. I would have gone.” She glanced away. “I actually wanted you to stay.”

Staying was out of the question. He was tired of working his ass off and getting nothing in return. He’d been too wild, too carefree, to settle down in their one-horse town. Now…now was a different story.

“I wouldn’t have stayed.” Blaine knew that without a doubt. “I should have asked you to go with me, though. You could have been my own personal buckle bunny.”

She snorted. “Not for all the money in the world.”

  He grinned. “Why not?”

She scowled at him. “There’s no way on earth I would prance around in those damn tight shorts with my ass hanging out the leg holes. And don’t even mention those damn plaid shirts that are never buttoned high enough and show the swells of my boobs to every dick that walks by.”

Blaine pictured her in that outfit. “You’d look pretty damn hot. Maybe you should wear that outfit around the house.”

She held out her arms. “I’m a sweats kind of girl.”

Blaine smiled and stood, pulling her around to face him. “You’re my kinda girl.”

He kissed her, molding his mouth against hers. She always gave him what he wanted. Hot and spicy sex or sweet kisses that he wished lasted forever. Her tongue traced the seam of his mouth, and he granted her entrance. God, he loved her. Everything about her.

When he finally pulled away, he sat on the edge of her desk and stared down at her. “Stuff like that is making me reconsider leaving.”

She smiled and patted his leg. “You’ll be fine. Just think about how much fun reunion sex is going to be.”

Oh, he could picture it. Her hot and wanton, lying on the bed waiting for him to fill her any way he pleased. Maybe she’d let him tie her up. Or maybe she’d ask someone to join them. God, the possibilities were endless.

He pulled her into his embrace. She wrapped her arms around him and snuggled against his chest. A week was a short time. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal to be away that long. He pressed a kiss in her hair. She smelled tropical, and it teased him to no end.

“I love you, Erin.” He rested his cheek against her head. She had told him not to say it in a fit of anger, but he couldn’t hold it back anymore. She was his partner and his lover. He loved her more than words could say.

She smiled at him. A heartbeat later, she said, “I love you, too, stud.”
