“Patience, my love,” he coed as he brought my hips against his, his length completely bared inside me. Then he slowly eased out before plunging back in, a rhythm starting to form between our moving bodies. I gripped the back of the couch as my back arched. He eventually leaned forward once he steadied our pace and grasped both of my breasts and started pinching my nipples between his fingers. All I could do was hold on as I began panting, moaning with each thrust as the sound of smacking flesh filled the air.
“Oh yes!!” I chanted over and over again, never thinking for once that someone might hear us outside. I had no care in the world besides letting Drake have his way with my body as he continued to thrust harder and harder into my wet core, his fingers tightened onto my breasts to anchor me better against him. His pace began to quicken as his thrusts became quicker, his hands moving back down to my hips as his grip tightened on me, his breathing becoming loud as he panted hard.
It’s when he slipped his hand around me and started rubbing my mound again that my body stiffened, waves of pleasure coursing through my body as I moaned loudly, a major orgasm hitting my body like never before. His voice met mine as he cried out, his hips smacking against mine before he held my hips steady as he thrusted a few more times in me before pulling out.
I leaned against his body, sweat covering both us as he as simply held me, our chests both rising and falling. We stood like that for several moments, simply enjoying the feel of each other’s bodies.
“Come on, let’s go cleaned up,” Drake eventually said, leading me to the bathroom and picking up his towel along the way.
Chapter Six
A knock on the door pulled my attention away from Drake as we sat at the small dining table. I had taken the time after the shower to fix us a quick breakfast, but the moment I saw the elderly man my appetite seemed to flee. I immediately remembered that everyone in this community was a werewolf.
“Come in, Salman,” Drake called as the man quickly entered, a smile on his face as he looked at me. I was surprised by his height, almost as tall and wide as Drake. His hair was gray and his face winkled as he smiled, but his body looks just like Drake’s; fit and toned from head to toe.
“I’m sorry, I did not know you had a guest,” Salman spoke as he took a seat next to me at the table. He reached forward his hand and I took it and gave it a quick shake before I placed my hands back under the table.
“Something tells me you did,” Drake replied as he looked at me and gave me a wink. I couldn’t help but turn bright red as my face flushed. I looked away, appearing to be intrigued by something outside the window.
“And yet I am not the only one,” Salman admitted, his voice becoming low as he shifted his body towards Drake. “News of the dead wolf has already reached the community, Drake. They will come for both revenge and to make sure our lines parish once and for all.”
“What do you mean?” I quickly asked, turning my gaze back to them.
“You see, my dear, the neighboring wolf pack wants our spot. It’s secluded and no one bothers us here. So in order to drive us to extinction, they’ve been killing off our mates and making sure we don’t have any more children,” Salman explained in a dark tone. My eyes grew wide as I covered my mouth, horrified by the news.
“They will come, Drake. I would not be surprised if they have already gathered their forces and have begun making their way here,” Salman continued. I looked to Drake, his eyes turned down as he rested his chin in his hand. Where his bright green eyes once shown, now they were dark, almost black. I was starting to get a horrible feeling in my stomach as I watched the way his body tensed. When he looked up at me, I almost gasped, but I tried to look strong for him knowing that soon he would need to take action.
“Keep the children in the city, move the elderly to watch over them, and get every able body back to the den. We need to protect what’s ours,” Drake spoke as he looked back to Salman. “You will go with them into the city and make sure they don’t try to attack us on two fronts. They’d be stupid to expose themselves in public, but I will not underestimate their desperation.”
“And what of her?” Salman asked as he motioned towards me. When Drake looked back at me, I saw that his face had softened. Silently I was pleading that he wouldn’t send me away even though I knew it was dangerous to stay. I knew what a wolf fight looked like and I never wanted to see that again.
“I can only protect her if she’s by my side. She will stay here with me,” Drake replied as he stood and peered down at the man. Salman didn’t question his decision as he also stood and quickly shook hands with Drake before giving me a slight nod and walking back towards the door.
“You two make the perfect couple,” he called over his shoulder before leaving the cabin. I couldn’t help but look up at Drake as he smiled down at me. He quickly came to my side and pulled me to my feet as he simply held me in his arms.
“I couldn’t agree more,” he breathed into my hair as I closed my eyes and pressed my face into his chest, trying to keep my composer despite the danger that now loomed around us.
“What do we do now?” I asked softly as I continued to hold on to him.
“You must stay here, up in the loft until I return. No matter what you hear, Alexa, you must promise me you won’t leave the loft,” Drake demanded as he stepped back and peered down at me.
I nodded my head, immediately terrified about what was going to happen next. He kissed me one more time as he led me over to the loft ladder. I placed my hands and feet on the ladder but couldn’t make myself move. When he slapped me playfully on the behind, I couldn’t help but laugh as I looked at him with a wicked smile. He winked at me as I finally made myself move up the ladder and into the loft.
I heard the front door shut down stairs as I leaned over the edge and watched Drake walk off the front porch and down the dirt road. I turned around and took in the sight; a simple queen sized bed nestled below a window. I immediately drifted towards the bed, crawling under the covers as I tucked my head between the pillows, inhaling deeply Drake’s scent. I tried not to cry or think about what could possibly come next, but as a howl sounded off in the distance, I knew that nothing good was about to happen.
Chapter Seven
The howling grew louder as I sat up in bed, pulling the covers around me as my body began to tremble. The sun was beginning it’s decent below the horizon, harsh, dark sunlight beaming through the upstairs windows. I didn’t dare move as I heard the sound of wolves fighting once more. The yips, growls, and gnashing of teeth filled the air‒ ten times louder than what I had heard in my apartment.
I tried to keep my breathing steady as my eyes stared into the space in front of me. I couldn’t help but wonder what was happening outside as I finally willed myself from the bed and crept ever so quietly towards the loft’s edge. I knelt down and peered over, my eyes darting from window to window as I tried to see what was happening outside.
Large wolves run back and forth in front of the house, engaging their targets one by one; the sight of blood staining the dirt road. I covered my mouth as tears came to my eyes. The sight was terrifying and I could not tell who was part of Drake’s wolf pack and who was the enemy attacking. I watched as beasts overcame their attackers, wolves turning back to dead humans. I placed my head against the railing as I closed my eyes, but I could still hear the sounds of death around me.
When the front door slammed against its hinges, I knew I was no longer alone. I popped my head up, hoping to see a black furred wolf, but instead a gray wolf stood in the living room, looking directly up at me. I stood, prepared to jump out the window if I needed to, when Drake’s wolf form came crashing through the doorway, slamming into the gray wolf as they tumbled over the floor; claws ripping fur as furniture was over turned.
The wolves parted and began circling each other as I settled back down beside the railing, watching as they growled at each other, showing their blood stained teeth. I silently prayed that Drake would be victorious and a
lmost cried out as they charged each other. Yips and barks filled the small cabin, their massive bodies thrashing against each other, causing the cabin to rumble as though bowl balls were being thrown around.
My fingers gripped the railing, my knuckles turning white as I watched in horror and shock. The gray wolf slashed Drake’s side, red welts showing immediately, but it gave Drake the opening he was looking for. He clamped his large jaws of teeth down on the gray wolf’s neck, causing the gray wolf to cry out as he clawed at Drake’s torso. But Drake didn’t let go as he ground his teeth into the beast’s neck till blood seeped out. The battle was over a moment later as the gray wolf’s body went limp before transforming back into a human. I watched with wide eyes as Drake panted for a few seconds before tilting his head towards the sky and letting out an ear piercing howl that forced me to clamp my hands over my ears and tuck my head between my legs in hopes of blocking out the sound.
As silence drifted in with nothing being heard beside the ringing in my ears, I finally dropped my hands and looked over the loft’s railing. Drake was still in wolf form, dragging the dead body from the room despite his own injures. He left out the front doorway, the door itself lying with the rest of the debris in the main living space of the cabin. It felt like an eternity since he had left, but perhaps only a few minutes as night crept in.
I eventually convinced myself to move away from the railing and light the few candles I could find. I then took a candle and slowly crawled down the loft ladder, moving to find the other candles I had seen earlier while staying clear of the bloody mess still on the ground. Finally I cleared a way to the hearth where I lit a fire with plenty of broken wood that was all around. The cabin started to warm and yet there was still no sign of Drake or any of the other wolves.
I busied myself with cleaning up the room; pushing the furniture aside, tossing out all the debris out the front door, and finally working on the blood stains with water and any torn fabric I could find. The work seemed endless, but eventually the stench was gone and the cabin appeared to be welcoming once more.
Standing in the center of the room with my tired, dirty arms around me, I stared out into the night through the open doorway. I breathed in deeply, trying to still my nervous body as the tears finally came. They fell down my face as I tried to contemplate if Drake had died; his people abandoning him at the end of the battle.
It was the light footsteps that made me hush myself as I held my breath. The candle light eventually caught his face, a tired, blood and dirt covered face, as Drake stepped through the open door. My eyes grew wide as I noticed his bleeding torso where claw marks had sunken into his flesh; wounds that were already starting to heal.
I closed the space between us and softly wrapped my arms around his waist as he rested his head on top of mine, nestling his face into my hair. His body felt heavy in my grasp and I knew he wouldn’t be able to stand for much longer.
“Come on,” I whispered as I grabbed his hand and tugged him after me. “Let’s go get cleaned up.”

People came and went all night long. I tried my best to find places for people to sit or cups of coffee for those who wanted the extra energy from the shear exhaustion from the fight. But the moment the children’s voices could be heard at the bottom of the hill, everyone’s spirits were instantly lifted. Drake and I moved to the front doorway as he looked down the hill, flash lights shining through the darkness as parents rushed out to meet their children. Those children whose parents had not made it through the battle, elders took back to their homes. There was many cries of joy and sadness that did fill the night, and I couldn’t help but cry as Salman appeared on the front porch, a somber look on his face.
“The battle may be over, Salman, but the cost will never be justified,” Drake spoke to the elder who nodded in return. We moved back into the cabin as I began once again moving amongst the people, helping the best I could. Meals were made, the scent of fresh bread filling the air. And when the sun came up over the horizon once more, the people finally left with their arms full of as much as I could give them.
“What will we eat?” Drake asked with a smile on his face. I couldn’t help but shrug my shoulders as I watched them all go; families who had all lost someone in the fighting.
“I don’t care, Drake. I really don’t care. I have you back in my arms and that is all I need,” I said in a shaky voice, tears once more coming to my eyes. I was so lucky not to have seen Drake killed in front of me like other lovers had experienced.
“It’s time for rest, my love,” Drake whispered into my hair as he drew me close. “Let tomorrow worry about tomorrow, and today we simply worry about getting some rest.”
Together we slowly made our way up into the loft and into Drake’s bed, and despite the rising sun, we fell into a deeper slumber that even the day couldn’t wake us from.
Chapter Eight
The garden had become my favorite place in the community, a large plot of land behind Drake’s cabin that I enjoyed spending hours in. The root vegetables had just started to come up out of the ground, thankfully before the first frost of winter. It was colder up in the mountains, cutting the growing season down by a full three weeks, making me worried these last few days that all my hard work these last three months was going to be for nothing. But as I labored to pull the carrots and potatoes from the ground, I was growing more confident that our shelves in the cabin and in the root ceiler would be completely stocked for winter.
As I carried a large create of potatoes into the root ceiler behind the house, I marveled at all my hard work. It was satisfying work that I had enjoyed, much better than working at the movie theater. It was almost strange how much I had enjoyed living with Drake in the mountains, almost completely cut off from the world around us.
I hadn’t returned to Colorado Springs since Drake first brought me here, nothing in my old life worth going back for. Even though there were many in the community that had jobs in the city, and the children were even bussed to the city for school, there was nothing that drew me back once I found my own place within the community. When I wasn’t in the gardens, I was in the kitchen baking and preparing meals for the community. Though Drake and I didn’t have much money, and the entire community had one computer to share amongst us, I never felt like I was missing anything in my life with Drake by my side‒ especially with the passion between us.
After the vegetables had been stowed away, I went back into the house to clean up for dinner. I turned off the crockpot that had been going all day, filling the house with the savory aroma of roasted beef with an array of fresh vegetables cooking alongside it. I took a deep breath as I went to the kitchen sink and started washing my hands and arms to rid my skin of the rich soil I had worked in all day. While I tilled the earth, Drake and his other pack members patrolled the forests, bringing back their kills for the community to share. It had taken a lot to get used to seeing large wolves walking around the community. I had watched Drake change into his wolf form from time to time, making it easier to cope with the idea of living in a community of werewolves.
“Something smells amazing,” Drake spoke from the front porch. I turned and watched as he came through the door, a smile on his face as he came in and walked towards me. I put my hands on my hips as I looked at him, wondering what he carried behind his back. But when he knelt in front of me and revealed the brightest red rose I had ever seen, holding it towards me, I placed my hand over my mouth as I looked at him with wide eyes. I took the rose and held it to my nose, enjoying its deep aroma that even overpowered the smell of the food.
“I spent all day searching for the perfect rose for you, running hundred miles away to find it just for you,” Drake said as I looked down at him; him taking my free hand in his. “Alexa, I may not have much money or many things to offer you, but I offer you this life here with me, an endless amount of love you will always have from me.”
“What are you saying, Drake,” I said in almost a whisper as I tried
to mentally capture this moment in my mind forever, like the film was rolling right behind my eyes.
“I’m saying, will you marry me, Alexa, and make me the happiest man alive?” he asked. The moment the words were said, a smile grew on my face as I tossed the rose onto the counter and met him on the floor, wrapping my arms around his shoulders as I captured his lips with mine.
“Yes,” I breathed heavily as I continued to kiss him, pushing my body against his. He wrapped his arms around me and brought us softly to the floor, rolling on top of me and sitting up slightly so he could look down at me.
“Are you ready to become like me then?” he asked next, his tone becoming very serious. My smiled continued as I ran my fingers through his hair, knowing this moment would eventually come. I knew I could only be with Drake forever if I was willing to become a werewolf like him. I gave him a quick nod as I kept my eyes on his.
“Then you better get that ass up that ladder,” Drake said playfully as I scurried to my feet and ran up the ladder, Drake closely behind. I felt his hands on me before I could make it to the bed as he picked me up and tossed me onto the bed. I couldn’t help but laugh as I watched him quickly take off his clothes. But I made him wait, taking my time to pull my work shirt over my head, taking off my bra and dangling it in front of me like a taunt. He growled, coming forth and sliding my jeans off my legs in one quick motion.
“Have patience, my love,” I said as I let him slowly tug my underwear off my body while trailing kisses down my thighs before nuzzling his face over my mound.
“I’m going to make you moan like you’ve never before,” Drake spoke, looking up at me as his eyes glowed bright green. The sight thrilled me as I obeyed his touch on my knees, spreading my legs wide for him as he then pulled my hips to the edge of the bed and placed my legs on his shoulders. With one last look, he bearded his face between my legs, licking and sucking on my mound as he slid a finger into my wet core, making me gasp and buck against him.
