Glory was tingling. She was ready for anything he would do. Going down on him had been exhilarating. She felt like she could do anything, be anything. Glory felt like a powerful woman. Yes, her heart was pounding. She was a bit dizzy. But if this sex turned rigorous and she expired – what a way to go.

Splaying her thighs, T took his first look at Glory’s delicate sex. He bent his head to gently kiss the tender flesh he’d thoughtlessly battered earlier. “I’m sorry. I was like a bull in a china shop.”

  “Well, when you’re hung like a bull…”

T blew a raspberry on her clit and she squealed with giggles. “This is fun, T. Thank you.”

“Fun? Let me see if I can do better than fun.” With that, he went to work and proceeded to blow Glory’s mind.

She’d dreamed of this. Lying alone in her bed, she’d tried to imagine how it would feel. But no fantasy could even compare. Glory knew it wasn’t just that reality was so much better, the true difference lay in the fact she was here with a man who’d fast become more than important to her. T was her dream guy. And if all she could have with him was this one time, she was going to press every second of it into the memory book of her mind, so she could relive this miracle again and again. “T!” Glory’s hand found his head and she tangled her fingers in his hair as he gave her more pleasure than she ever imagined.

He kissed. He licked. He nuzzled. He used his tongue to soothe where he’d so callously pillaged before. Now he worshiped her, determined to push her to heights of which she’d only dreamed.

A wave of pleasure rose so high in Glory that all she could do was be swept away by its power. She couldn’t be still, if it weren’t for his steady hands anchoring her down, she would have broken the bonds anchoring her to earth and flown into the heavens. “Oh, T, my T,” she whispered as her body shook with the first orgasm she’d ever shared with anyone.

Planting one last kiss to her throbbing clit, T-Rex moved up her body, scattering kisses from her delicate feminine mound, up past two trembling breasts, and on up to her mouth. As he claimed her lips, he pressed his aching cock into the properly prepared, tender well of her sex. “Am I welcome?” he asked before going further.

Glory threw her arms around his neck and wrapped her legs around his hips. “You are most welcome.” As he began to move within her, she kissed his neck and his face, anywhere and everywhere she could reach. “It doesn’t hurt, it feels good. I love this. I love…”

She choked back the last word, knowing it was the last thing a man like T would want to hear from her. As she clung to him, absorbing the powerful thrusts of his big body, Glory hoped her heart didn’t beat out of her chest. She closed her eyes, loving the power, the amazing fullness, the incredible connection she felt at being joined with him.

Shutting his eyes, his big body bowed, T buried his face in her neck. How in God’s name could he walk away from this? Even as he reveled in the pleasure, he understood how much more he’d miss it – miss her – tomorrow. Coherent thoughts refused to be processed. In the throes of ecstasy, T could only feel, as every fiber of his being strove for the pinnacle – thrust after thrust – in and out – in and out. Over and over, he buried himself within her softness, accepting every bit of sweetness she gave him, immersing himself wholly in the act he was created for, yet had so long deprived himself of.

Heat boiled within him. His balls drew up and prepared to release the essence he’d so often spent upon the ground. Like a man savoring his last breath, he bowed at the gates of heaven and knew this would be his only glimpse. “Glory, my Glory,” he breathed as he came – surrendering his very soul.

Glory held him tight. She hadn’t cum this time, but she didn’t need to. Once might not be enough, but what he’d given her was so precious, she wouldn’t complain.

For the second time, he arose and wet a cloth in warm water, cleaning between her thighs. Once he’d tended himself in the restroom, he returned to the bedroom…only to find it empty.

Glory was gone. Her clothes were missing too.

T grabbed his pants and yanked them on. When he came on deck, he found her sitting on the edge of the dock. “Boy, you got out of there fast. Was it so bad?” He knew she hadn’t come when he was inside of her, but he planned on making up for that fact before the sun rose.

Glory turned her head to gaze at him. She had a very serene expression on her face. “No, it was wonderful. Thank you.”

Trying to read her mood, he came forward a few steps. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you? I know you didn’t…”

She shook her head. “Of course not. I came out to see you off.”

T put his hands on his hips. “Am I going somewhere?”

Glory stared at him, weighing his mood, then jumped to her feet.

  Reprieve!!

“Yes. You’re going back to bed with me.”

T smiled as she sprinted back across the deck to him. “The night’s not over.”

Glory didn’t miss his point. He was still holding her to the one night deal. “Instead of midnight, I turn into a pumpkin at dawn, I got it.” She couldn’t help but hope he’d change his mind.

He didn’t like the sound of her interpretation, but how could he argue with his own rules? “Lots of hours till dawn, Glory Bee.” Picking her up, he turned her upside down and kissed her belly.

She giggled, but began pulling on his shirt. “Put me down, T-Rex. I can’t be upside down. Please.”

Hearing a tinge of panic in her voice, T did as she asked, setting her feet gently on the floor. “Sorry, I was just playing.”

“Oh, I know.” She hugged his arm. “I have a bad case of inverseverticalitis.”

  “What is that?”

“A phobia to being upside down.” She giggled, kissing him on the chest. Catching her breath, she pinched him playfully. “I’ll race you, winner gets to be on top!”

He laughed as she took off, skipping ahead of him. What she didn’t realize was that he’d be a winner either way.

…The next morning, Glory wasn’t terribly surprised to wake up alone. Their night was over, and what a night it had been. To her delight, T had been insatiable and giving. He’d shown her untold wonders. The best word she could come up with was ravished.

  She felt deliciously ravished.

They’d made love three more times, at least that was the phrase she would use. Glory wasn’t sure how T might classify their erotic romp. As she’d called it, T-Rex had patiently shown her how to ride him, playing with her breasts until she came so hard she saw stars. Later, he spooned her for a sleepy, sexy coupling, kissing her so tenderly she thought she might cry. And sometime before dawn, she’d awakened with him already deep inside of her. Glory cradled him to her until he finished. As crazy as he seemed for her, she’d gone to sleep in his arms, hoping T might change his mind about them.

But when she next opened her eyes, it was to find the bed empty, save for herself. Not even Buford was around. Springing from the bed, Glory quickly donned a shirt and ran to the door, hoping she would find T drinking coffee on deck.

  He wasn’t there.

After glancing toward his house, Glory could see he’d already left without her, his truck was gone. Despair hit her in the gut like a 2x4.

Returning inside, she found a folded piece of paper standing up on the chest of drawers, addressed to her. Grabbing it, she began to read.

  Glory

I couldn’t sleep, so I worked on Calvin’s old truck. I got it going, at least for a while. There’s enough gas for you to run any errands you need to. The keys are on the kitchen counter.

Thanks for last night. I had fun.

  I’ll be seeing you,

  T

Even with the salutation and his one letter signature, the note had barely more characters than a tweet. But when she read between the lines, the short little letter told her volumes.

T was ready for her to return to the bait shop, and he did not intend to repeat their night of passion.

; Well, shoot.

  Glory cried.

  CHAPTER SEVEN

  Willpower.

T had been working on his all day.

He was about to go home to Glory and he needed to keep his word. He’d set the boundaries; he’d written the rules. There would be no repeat of last night – no matter how much he wanted it.

And God, he wanted it. He wanted her. He wanted to make love to her over and over.

As he traveled down the familiar narrow dirt road that led into the swamp, T allowed himself to relive the night he’d shared with Glory. Just the memory was enough to make him moan. His cock ached for another chance to experience heaven. In the early hours of the morning, after he’d taken her that last time, T found himself staring at her face in the moonlight. He’d known without a doubt that all it would take would be one word – one word.

  Stay.

Undoubtedly, if he asked Glory to stay with him. To be his lover. To see what the future might hold – she would’ve said yes. Even though he couldn’t promise her forever, Glory would have been willing to give him what he asked for and take only the little he offered in return.

But…as he’d gazed at her beautiful face he knew he couldn’t put her at risk. No matter how willing she was, he had to remember what he’d done – what he could still do. Glory deserved better than T-Rex Beaumont.

With that sorrowful realization, he’d pulled himself away, leaving her a note.

The memory of his words pained him – I had fun. He’d cheapened one of the most wonderful moments of his life with three words. I had fun.

He hoped she could read between the lines and receive the message he couldn’t afford to enunciate.

The time he’d shared with her had been incredible. Memorable. The time of his life.

But – for both their sakes, he intended to slip back into the role he’d played before.

  Her friend.

As he neared home, the old bait shop drew T-Rex like a magnet. He had news for Glory. She would no longer be bothered by Jimmy Dubois, which meant she wouldn’t feel compelled to go on that stupid date with him.

Remy Edwards had arranged for Dubois to receive a friendly visit from the county sheriff. They’d found Glory’s missing belongings and enough drugs to indict him on possession and theft. Because of several candid photos they found of Glory, coupled with her stolen feminine underthings, Jimmy was denied bail before the trial.

When she resumed her stay at the bait shop, there would be no reason for him to stand guard. T could sleep easy for the first time in weeks. He and Glory could go back to living separate lives.

T kept waiting to feel a sense of relief at the thought – but it didn’t come. He fought back the self-analysis.

While he was here, he supposed he could offer to go pick up the bunk bed for her. But as he drew closer, he could see something sticking out of the back of Calvin’s old truck. Dammit! She’d beat him to it.

Glory would be moving out sooner than he’d anticipated.

Pulling up to the shop, he climbed out, catching her as she tugged a plastic covered mattress through the door. Her face was red and she was breathing heavily.

“Why didn’t you wait for me to help you?”

“Oh, hey, T!” she panted. “I didn’t know you’d be stopping by. I got it. This is more cumbersome than heavy.”

“Oh, give it here.” He muscled in and wrested the mattress from her, then unloaded everything else and put it up while she did her best to protest.

Once he had it set up, T put his hands on his hips and faced her. “You were in an awful big hurry to get this thing here and assembled.”

“No, I wasn’t.” She watched him hungrily, wishing she had the right to go up and hug him hard. Odd. She’d felt more at ease doing things like that before they’d had sex. Now, she felt…needy. “This was our bargain. Right? I was just holding up my end.”

T-Rex raked his hand through his hair. “Never mind. I just stopped by to tell you that Jimmy Dubois was arrested. You won’t have to go on a date with him…and I guess you’re safe here.”

Glory gave him a small smile, her heart hurting like a bitch. “Thank you. I don’t know what you did, but I know you were taking care of me. And thank you for letting me stay with you for a couple of nights. I appreciate you very much.”

“Don’t mention it. It was nothing.”

Glory folded her arms tightly to her breast. What they’d shared hadn’t felt like ‘nothing’ to her. “Okay.”

T stood there a second, knowing it was time to leave. When his feet refused to head to the door, he decided to investigate the place, making sure the locks on the windows were secure and that the new lock on the front worked the way it was supposed to.

“I have some soup. Would you like to take a bowl home?”

His heart hurt, she was always trying to take care of him. “No, I’m good.” He finally let his eyes meet hers. “I guess I’ll be going. Take care, Glory.”

  “You too, T-Rex.”

He raised a hand, then left as quickly as he could without looking back.

Once he was out the door, Glory went to the screen to watch until his truck rounded the curve, then she ran outside and down the road, trying to get one final glimpse.

…A quarter mile down the road, T stopped his truck on the side of the road and just sat in it. He was so tense, his whole body hurt. He wanted to go back to her so much he ached. How could he have gotten so dependent, so fast?

The only remedy, the only way to stop the bleeding – was to go cold turkey.

  No more Glory.

He glanced in the rearview mirror, thinking for a minute he saw a movement. Was it Glory, running after him, like in the movies? Staring into the gloom, he had to admit he was losing it. “Hell, I guess I’ll start seeing her everywhere now.”

Starting his truck, he put it into gear and headed home to a lonely house.

Behind him, standing in the shadows, Glory waved her hand, telling T goodbye.

  A few days later…

“Why are you acting like a bear with a sore head?” Revel asked as they drove home from New Orleans after meeting with their bosses at the Corp. Their team had been brought in to do an in-house inspection of the levee system that protected New Orleans from flooding, the same system which had failed spectacularly after Hurricane Katrina.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” T answered drolly.

“Oh, yes, you do.” Revel popped the top of a soda can. “How’s that cute little girl you’ve been dating, what’s her name? Haley Lou Jah?”

“Cute. Glory. Her name is Glory.” He stared, transfixed, at the road. “And we’re not dating!” he added as a loud afterthought.

“Okay. Okay. You don’t have to get your Hanes in a wad.” Revel took a big swig of Dr. Pepper. “I was going to ask if you wanted to bring her over for dinner tomorrow night. Harper’s having one of her infamous gatherings.”

T shook his head. “Is she going to try and set me up again? You know I hate that.”

Revel shook his head. “No, I think she’s given up on you. This is just an excuse for her to try out some new recipes.” He held his hand down next to the seat, fingers crossed. “If you’ll come, I’ll let you shoot my new compound bow.”

T perked up. “Can I also sit in your recliner?”

“Yes,” Revel said with a dramatic sigh.

“Saturday night at seven, bring Buford if you want.”

“You know Buford doesn’t like your ghosts, Jones. I’m not going to torture my dog needlessly.”

“All right, all right. He’s not scared of them, though. You’ve taken him on too many Rougaroux hunts. Some dogs are deer dogs, some are coon dogs, yours is a paranormal pooch. I just enjoy using him to scare the other guests when they ask why he’s growling at the bottom of the stairs.”

“That’s okay, I’ll stand at the bottom of the stairs and growl for you,” T offered dryly. At least he wouldn’t ha
ve to be alone. Maybe he could find something else to think about a few hours other than Glory Bee Hudson.

“I’ll hold you to it.” Revel turned his head and smirked at his own reflection in the darkened glass.

On Saturday evening…Glory stared at part of her reflection in the broken mirror of the bait shop restroom as she applied some lip gloss. What she could see of her face looked okay. Maybe she’d do. Heading back to the tiny kitchen, she pulled a big pan of brownies from the oven. For a moment, she thought about taking some to T. He had a major sweet tooth. But…he’d probably lose his appetite if she just showed up. Her best option would be to stick to the original plan and take them to the Joneses as her contribution to the evening meal.

When Harper had shown up at the shop today and issued the unexpected invitation to dinner, Glory almost refused. The possibility of T-Rex being there was front and center in her mind. After all, T was Revel’s best friend. She knew the big man wouldn’t be anxious to socialize with her. Glory almost asked Harper if he’d be there, but something inside her had rebelled.

So - what if he was there?

Glory wasn’t poisonous. She might not be anyone’s ideal, and she certainly wasn’t a good, long-term, investment risk – not with her PAH and all – but she was a nice girl. As Glory crossed her arms and patted her foot in thought, she almost wound herself up into a worry knot.

T-Rex Beaumont was lucky to spend time with me! And if he’s there, and if he doesn’t like that I am…well, he can just kiss my foot!

Images of him kissing another part of her hit Glory like a sledge hammer. Whoa! Yea, she was all for him repeating that spectacular performance.

But a repeat performance wasn’t going to happen.

Because their sexual liaison was relegated to one measly night.

  His call. Damn him.

Oh, well. She gathered her purse, marched to Calvin’s old truck armed with a platter of scrumptious brownies, ready to kick the night in the ass and have a good time.
