Love Found a Way (Hell Yeah! Book 0) Page 19

by Sable Hunter

“This is more than just a place to have fun, everybody. This is about the mission to save our wetlands. If we don’t, the Rougaroux may not have a place to live, and neither will we.”

The man’s statement, while impassioned, did not set the stage for the day. Revelry reigned supreme. There was booths and activities everywhere. T’s eyes lit up like a kid’s as they meandered down aisle after aisle, riding rides and playing games. Glory’s favorite was the bumper cars and she also loved a spider ride where the cars were slung from left to right as they went up and down at a frantic speed. She held on to T and screamed happily, burying her face in his sleeve.

There was also a haunted house that they walked through, cleverly staged with scenes designed from classic horror movies. Glory clung to T, more out of excitement than fear. T also persuaded her to walk through a crazy house, full of mirrors and illusions that he found fascinating and Glory found confusing. Everywhere people were dressed in costume. And in the central mall area, there was a costume contest. They saw everyone from Donald Trump to Michael Myers from the movie Halloween, to the big bad wolf of Red Riding Hood fame. There were also trolls and a host of the Walking Dead strolling around. Glory and T, didn’t compete. Despite T’s axe, their costumes looked more like the normal festival goers attire than not.

T’s good mood rubbed off on Glory and she held hands with him, hoping to regain the feeling of contentment she’d enjoyed when they first arrived. They made their way down the carnival lane, playing games. T won her a small bear and bought her a purple jacket she admired, one with a little black heron embroidered on the shoulder. When the sun began to set, she pulled the jacket on, grateful for the protection it provided. “Thank you!” she shouted over the noise, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Live music set the stage, everything from high school bands to performers from New Orleans. Everybody danced as they moved around and Glory followed suit, laughing when she attracted the attention of more than one male admirer.

“Here, stand by me, and be still,” T reached out to pull her close as they stood in line for a plate of BBQ.

“I’m just trying to have a good time.” She batted her eyes at him, flirtatiously. “Don’t you think I’m cute?”

“I think you’re cute, but I also think you’re asking for another spanking.”

Glory shrugged. “Maybe. Maybe I’m asking for something else.”

T didn’t get a chance to question her meaning before the vendor asked them what they wanted to order.

After that, things got hectic when time came for the parade. The Corps sponsored a float and to Glory’s surprise, T wanted to ride on it. She made herself happy throwing beads and candy to the children as they wound their way through town. By the time night fell, the parade headed to a field where a huge bonfire was set. There was picnic style seating where everyone gathered around to watch a group of zombies do a choreographed dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. T found a place to sit and pulled Glory into his lap. “Are you mad at me or something?” he whispered in her ear.

She shivered at his warm breath on her skin. “No, I’m not mad. You just made me a little sad and uncomfortable, that’s all.”

  “How?” He was shocked.

Glory was saved from answering when T was called up for his storyteller time.

As he moved up to lean on the side of an 18-wheeler flatbed trailer decorated with hay bales and scarecrows, there were audible gasps and a few catcalls from women who were getting their first look at her handsome guy. She ignored them, licking her own lips and feeling pride at how hot he was. Yea, they might not be dating and she was a little put out with him, Glory told herself, but she’d be in his bed later that night – and they wouldn’t.

“You might tell yourself that the Rougaroux is a mythical creature,” he began. “You might comfort yourself that all of this is just old wives’ tales and stories told to keep children in line.” T paused dramatically. “Well, I’m here to tell you that’s not true. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. The Rougaroux is real…I’ve seen him.”

Glory, as well as every other person in the crowd, leaned closer as T told tale after tale of the Rougaroux. How a black dog would appear in the woods near a village and children would begin to disappear, and how people would hide in their homes when the sun went down, dreading the unearthly howls echoing through the night.

“The Rougaroux or the loup-garou has lived amongst us from the time Louisiana has been inhabited by mankind. Many say he’s a werewolf, turning from man to beast when the full moon rises in the sky. Others say he’s cursed by a voodoo queen or changed by a swamp witch in return for some unpaid debt. Still others say the creature is more like a Sasquatch or a wendigo. One legend says that if a man sees a Rougaroux, he’s transformed into a Rougaroux, doomed to wander the earth in the form of this monster, stronger than the average man, easily breaking the bones of his prey.”

T-Rex held the audience in the palm of his hand. There wasn’t a sound, only the crackle of the fire and the almost uniform breathing of the crowd.

Until one voice rang out, interrupting T in mid-sentence.

“Takes one to know one, Beaumont!” People turned, gasping to see who was talking. “Isn’t that right, Beaumont? You’re one of those freaks. You’re a Rougaroux, stronger than an ox, lurking in the swamp. Killing people with your bare hands. Your daddy was one too, wasn’t he? The curse passed from father to son. Anyone who’s stupid enough to live around you, best watch their back. Right, Beaumont?”

Glory saw T’s face grow stony as security came to take the man away. She wanted to stand, to find out who could be so mean, but several men came through the crowd urging people to keep their seats. “Everybody be calm; we’re taking care of the heckler.”

T resumed his talk, but Glory could tell the fire had gone out of him.

By the time he finished, she had to run to keep up with him. “Wait up, T. You were great. Don’t let that crazy man make you feel bad. He was just jealous.”

  “Jealous of what, Glory?”

They didn’t get all the way to the parking lot before Harper and Revel met them. “Hey, man, don’t listen to him. You know who that was, don’t you?”

“Yea, I know. Some of Dubois kin.” T tried to shrug off the pain. He didn’t so much care that it had happened, or that he’d been interrupted. What tore him up was that Glory had heard. What would he tell her?

“Exactly. He’s nobody.” Revel kept on, trying to get T to shake off his upset. “Don’t let this get you down. Don’t let it anger you.”

A wave of rage passed over T. “Don’t let it anger me? Are you afraid I’m going to lose it, Jones!” He sneered at his best friend. “Afraid I can’t control myself? Do you think the asshole is right? Do you think I’ll go off the deep end and start throwing people around?”

“I didn’t say that, T,” Revel spoke evenly. “Let’s go somewhere so you can cool off.”

“I don’t need to cool off!” T shouted, well aware of the stares they were getting from other folks on the way to their cars.

Harper tugged Revel’s arm. “Let’s go. He’s upset and you’re not making it any better. T? Sweetheart? We’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

Glory watched helplessly as T’s friends made their getaway. Others were giving them a wide berth. T-Rex, angry, his fists clenched, his jaw set - was a formidable sight.

No matter, for some reason T was hurting and that would never do. Without a moment’s hesitation, Glory went to him, clasping him around the waist. “I love you, T-Rex. I love you so much.”

Her words deflated his anger like a pin prick to an overinflated balloon. “What did you say?”

Glory swallowed nervously. She knew this wasn’t what he wanted to hear. Still, it was true. “I love you. You are such a good man. I don’t know what that fool was talking about, and I don’t want to know. I don’t need to know.”

“Don’t say that Glory. Don’t love me. I can’t love you back,” he stated starkly.
>
“I know,” she whispered, her heart breaking for him – and for her.

“I’m not worth it, I’m just not worth it,” he muttered, staring off into the blackness of the field next to the festival’s parking lot.

“That’s not true. You’re worth everything. You’re the best person I know.” She held him tight, trying her best to absorb the shudders rolling through his big body.

“Let’s get out of here.” He extricated himself from her embrace, then grabbed Glory’s hand and began to pull. T thought he was going to be sick. Seeing the fear in Harper’s eyes reminded him of the fear he’d seen in his mother’s. What had he done? “I didn’t mean to shout, Glory. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Glory went with him. “You didn’t scare me, at all. You didn’t scare Harper either, she just wanted to give us time alone.”

T knew that was a lie and he knew why Glory was telling the lie. He knew why she’d said she loved him. Glory was trying to appease him, like some maiden soothing a savage beast. Fuck! Everything was messed up! As he traversed his way through the maze of vehicles to his truck, thoughts ran rampant through his head. He didn’t know if he could handle it anymore. Why wouldn’t people just leave him alone? Yea, he needed to be alone. “Maybe you should go, Glory.”

Glory stopped in her tracks, jerking her hand from his grasp. “You want me to leave?”

“Maybe it would be for the best.” He kept walking, unable to think, unable to breathe.

Glory didn’t know what to do. She didn’t have anywhere to go, no one to go to. But if T didn’t want her around, she couldn’t stay. Maybe, he was right. Maybe she should go back to Baton Rouge, try to start over. “I’ll need my medicine. Could I get that before I go?”

Her small voice asking for her medicine slew him. What was he doing? “Oh, God.” He turned, walked to her blindly and picked her up. “I don’t want you to go. I didn’t mean it.”

Glory began to kiss his face. “Take me home, T. I want to go home with you.”

When they got to the truck, Glory got behind the wheel, T didn’t even question her decision. They drove home quietly. T kept waiting for Glory to ask him the uncomfortable question about what the man was referring to.

  But she didn’t.

How much longer could he keep the truth from her? He didn’t have a clue. The moment she knew, she would be the one who decided to go.

“T-Rex, I need to say something.”

Her small voice breaking the silence caused his heart to hammer in his chest. “Okay.”

“My life hasn’t been an easy one. I’ve had people I could count on, but even those walked away from me when the tough times came.” She glanced over at him, her face painted in shadows. “I’m not like them. As I told you before, I don’t need to know what that man was talking about, or what the woman in the bait shop was hinting about. I know you. I know your heart. When the time comes when you want me to know the details of your life, you can tell me. Until then, I’m just going to love you.”

  “Glory…”

“Hush.” She held her hand up for him to let her talk. “I’m not asking you for anything. My love doesn’t come with strings or an expectation for a ring and a promise. My love is freely given. Loving you makes me happy. As long as you want me around and my luck holds out, I’ll stay.”

Luck holds out? What did she mean by that? “Glory…”

She held up that little hand again, the other busy keeping his truck headed down the highway. “Tomorrow we go back to normal, taking care of our obligations and working toward our individual goals. But tonight, I’m in charge.”

T felt a smile play around his lips. He set up straighter in the seat, bowed his head and dry scrubbed his face. With a low chuckle and a smile, he asked, “What does that mean? You’re in charge.”

Now, it was Glory’s turn to smile. “Just you wait and see, buddy. Just you wait and see.”

  *

When they arrived at his home, he began to get the picture. She came around to his side of the truck as he crawled out and she wrapped herself around him. “I’m going to love you so good. Can you take it?”

His cock immediately responded to her suggestion. Only Buford dancing at their feet and demanding their attention prevented him from lifting her to the hood of the truck and taking her there. “You’ve got my attention, Hudson.”

“Good.” She twined their fingers together and led him into his own house. With a quick kiss on his lips, she gave him directions. “Go get naked and wait for me in the bed. I’ve got a few things I need to do.”

“Yes, ma’am.” He felt his spirits soar. The shame he’d felt at the festival was, for a time, forgotten.

Glory rushed to the restroom and took a quick shower. She took her pills and drank a glass of water. The stress of the day had her shaking, but she was determined to put aside any weakness and give T what he needed so badly. If she could just show him how much he was loved, maybe she could heal him from whatever ate at his heart and mind. Digging in the basket of clothes she’d washed but not folded, Glory found something semi-sexy to wear. She had some major seducing to do and she was going to need all the help she could get.

Lying in bed, T waited. His cock was hopeful, resting on his thigh at half-mast. He had no doubt something good awaited him, he just didn’t know what form it would take. Glory was like a little chameleon, she managed to surprise him at every turn. Some days she was a little girl lost, so innocent and appealing he wanted to wrap her in his arms and protect her forever. Other days she was a temptress, snaring him in a web from which he had no desire to escape. Either way, she displayed one trait he was hopeless and helpless to resist. No matter what he did, what he said, what she heard – she believed in him.

  “T?”

He jerked his head up and zeroed in on her. “Damn,” he let out a long breath.

Glory moved forward slowly. She wore a pair of pale yellow boy shorts and a matching tank top made of sheer see through lace. This woman was every man’s wet dream. “I have a proposition for you.”

  “Yes.”

Glory laughed – low and seductively. “You haven’t heard my proposal yet.”

  “Doesn’t matter. I’m in.”

“Hmmmm.” Now might be a good time to propose marriage, she considered for a half second. No, she supposed she’d better stick to safe ground. “Okay. My terms are this. I want two things from you - and in return, I’m giving you those two wishes you turned down before. Interested?”

The prospect of the wishes sent his head in places his dick wanted to follow. “Oh, yea. Just tell me what to do.”

She stood at his feet, hypnotized by his cock. The beautiful organ was filling and rising, she watched it as it moved from his thigh to lie straight and strutted, the tip reaching his navel. “Right now, I just want you to lie there…and feel.”

During the next few minutes, T learned the depths of his strength and his endurance. The witch named Glory began at his feet and she used her tongue, lips, and fingers to torment him – licking, kissing, and petting every inch of his skin. She sucked his toes! Caressed his legs. Dragged her nipples over his thighs and made him shake. Every time he reached for her, she pushed his hand away. “My time. Patience.”

T groaned as she rose over him, her kisses were like flames of fire dancing over his skin. She tortured him with pleasure, enchanted him with her hunger for what he could do to her. No man alive could resist her. He clawed at the sheet with one hand and held her hair up with the other. He didn’t want to miss a thing. She licked a path up his chest, the minx sucked his nipples, making his toes curl and his hips lift. The only thing she hadn’t touched was his cock and if she didn’t pay attention to that neglected appendage soon he would die. “Please, Glory, please.”

  “Wish one.”

“Touch me, God, please touch me.”

  “Where?” She nipped his pec.

  “My cock, touch my cock.”

She gave him a sweet smile. “
I thought you’d never ask.”

“Sweet Jesus,” he breathed when she settled between his legs, taking him in her hand and giving him the sweetest relief. Her mouth, her glorious wet warm mouth enveloped the head of his cock and he almost swooned. “Suck me, baby. Suck me.”

Glory set out to make him forget all his troubles. She went down on him, taking him deep, using lips and tongue to soothe – to tease – to raise him to unbridled heights. One thing she’d learned during their time together was how to please him. He’d schooled her and she excelled. Up and down – up and down – sucking, licking, nibbling and lapping. Hungrily, feverishly she worked on him. One hand pumped his shaft and the other played with his balls. Every muscle in T’s body tensed, his whole being cocked and primed for release…and then she stopped.

  “Glory,” he groaned.

“Trust me, it will only get better.” Moving up his body, she took his breath away when she fed him her tits. “Suck me.”

Mindlessly, he followed her command, taking as much of her breast in his mouth as he could. Long, hard pulls. Hungry suckles. Kissing one and milking the other nipple with his fingers. To reward him, she ran her hand back down to pump his cock – keeping him on the edge.

This time, when she moved, he grabbed her. “Where are you going?”

“Higher.” She did as she said, working her way to sit on his face. “Love me,” she commanded…

And God help him, he did. With a growl of gratitude, he dove in. No preliminaries. No niceties. The time for politeness was over. He held her thighs, burying his face in her pussy as he began to eat her out. Long licks, spearing his tongue deep, lapping and sucking her clit until she was bucking over him. “Still,” he growled, one hand moving up to cover a breast. All Glory could do was hold onto the headboard and take what he gave her.

And God bless him, she loved every second.

When she shattered, he held her, his tongue and lips pushing her farther and higher until she sank forward, limp and sated.

“Wish two.” This time it was his voice evoking their agreement.
