“Happy anniversary,” he whispered handing her red rose.

“Happy anniversary to you,” she whispered back and kissed him.

She and Christopher had been married two years to the day. Christopher and Catherine King—she still loved hearing the sound of their names together. Later that day, she and Christopher took James, Ryan, and Caroline to Emma and Tyler’s. They had a nice romantic dinner out. When they got back home, Christopher lit a fire in the fireplace.

He and Catherine sat holding each other on the couch staring into the glow of the firelight. Catherine laid her head against Christopher’s chest feeling as though he was the home she had been searching for.

  “You’re my miracle,” he whispered.

She smiled and lifted her head.

“And you are mine, and soon we will be blessed with another miracle,” she said putting Christopher’s hand on her stomach. “I’m pregnant!”

Christopher looked at Catherine with worry in his eyes. She had gone through such physical and emotional trauma with the birth of Caroline that he was afraid another pregnancy would be dangerous to Catherine.

“Are you all right? Is the baby all right?” Christopher asked with worry in his voice.

“Yes, the doctor said that the babies and I are doing fine.”

  “Babies?” Christopher asked in shock.

  “Yes, we are having twins!”

That night, as Christopher lay sleeping, Catherine went out to the porch. Above her, the moon shone brightly. She saw a shooting star, but there was nothing she wanted to wish for. She already had everything her heart could ever desire. She had Christopher, and he was truly her heart healer.

  A word from the author…

I was born and raised in southern Maryland. When I was thirteen I moved to Summerville, South Carolina where I fell in love with the Lowcountry culture and history. South Carolina was my inspiration for my book Heart Healer.

Recently I moved to central Virginia, and now I am enjoying the beauty and history of this area. The rolling hills and pastoral views will surely inspire ideas for future stories.
