He kissed her, his lips lingering on hers long enough to spark the tinder between her legs. “I couldn’t stay away.”
“Never stay away,” she said.
“Couldn’t if I tried.” He kissed her again. “I think it’s time I take you to bed, get you out of that dress.”
She fluttered her eyelashes. “It is rather uncomfortable.”
His laughter was like warm molasses spreading through her veins, heating up every hidden corner and crevice of her body. It moved through her like it was part of her.
Like he was part of her.
And he was. She knew that now.
Once she had run from him. Then she had stood behind him.
Now she would stand by his side.
It was where she belonged.
