I guess we should avoid killing him if he doesn’t piss us all off again that is.

“You know he isn’t responsible for you anymore, right?” I ask her leaning across the table to be closer to her.

  “Let me guess… you are?”

I nod my head keeping my face straight.

“Freya…” someone’s voice calls from behind me. My back straightens and my hand goes for my knife. Freya knows approximately two people outside of my circle, and they are both women—this though, this is a man’s voice. Freya looks up and smiles brightly, stands and starts to walk to this person. My hand catches her around the waist before she moves any further, her eyes shoot down to me and she gives me a look that says, ‘fucking let go before I kill you,’ but I don’t. My hand stays exactly where it is. Instantly I stand pushing her back, so she goes behind me. The man is dressed just like Patrick, his eyes are sharp and angry when he looks to me.

“Boyra… good to see you. This is Viktor.”

“Her husband,” I clarify. I feel Freya drop back, the guy looks me up and down and I notice before he even speaks again that he’s Russian. His eyes leave mine and look behind me, he smirks and turns to walk away. When I swing around Freya’s not there, she isn’t even in the shop anymore. After throwing some money on the table I take off outside. Checking around near the car and around the restaurant, I realize she isn’t there either. I’m about to call in reinforcements when I see a glimpse of her blonde hair turning down a street a few yards up the road.

I set off running until she comes back into view, then I keep on running until she’s right before me. My hands lift Freya and throw her over my shoulder. She screams and smacks my back while I walk us to the car. Not saying a word while she curses me out in Russian, I throw her in and lean down to buckle her in place. She hits at my hands and tries to slam the door in my face when I’m done. Climbing into the car, I don’t say a word on the way back to our place, but neither does she.

“Sleep on the fucking couch,” she says to me upon entering the house.

“Not happening,” I reply following her to the bedroom.

She takes off her shoes and starts to throw them at my head. “You aren’t my father! Don’t think for a second you can tell me who I can and can’t talk to.”

  “No, I’m your fucking husband.”

Her face goes red when she stands. “You aren’t my fucking husband. Maybe on paper, but that’s it.”

“I can change that, Freya. I can fuck you against the wall and consummate this marriage right now.”

“You wouldn’t,” she says pursing her lips.

“I fucking would and don’t tempt me. My patience is wearing thin when you’re around.”

“What’s that meant to mean?” she screams and pulls her shirt off over her head and throws it in my direction as well. Her top half now on display.

  She’s pushing her luck.

“It means if you want to play games with the devil, prepare to sin.”

Her hands stop on her pants. “Don’t touch me, Viktor.”

“Don’t tempt me, Freya,” I say walking across the room and into the bathroom, slamming the door after I enter. It’s time for a cold ass shower.

  Chapter 8

  Freya

He thinks of me as property—I am not his property, far from it. Just because we’re married, does not mean he owns me. He needs to speak and treat me more like his partner, not his hostage. Someone he has at his beck and call to command. I walk into the room a few minutes later, he’s already showered and lying in bed, naked yet again. The ink that flows over his body is attractive, bright, sexy, and more importantly like a piece of modern art that’s been painted directly onto his skin. Picking up my clothes from the floor, his eyes watch me as I walk to the bathroom.

“You didn’t change this room…” His voice comes through loudly. I throw on my pajamas, and when walking back out I notice his eyes are back on me.

“You did the room,” I say stepping over to my side of the bed. He turns so he’s watching me and I feel self-conscious when his eyes are on me. And it occurs to me…

How many other women has he looked at the way he looks at me?

How many women has he touched, kissed?

Does he think of them when he kisses me?

“You could have changed it.” His hand reaches out and touches my hip. He pulls me to him. “I want to give you another one… with my mouth,” he whispers.

I have no idea what he’s talking about so my forehead crinkles up in confusion.

“Let me please you,” he says. He moves so fast his body hovers over mine. I stare up at him, afraid but turned on all at the same time.

“You have a lot of making up to do,” I barely whisper.

He smirks and I like it when his lips quirk up. Especially when his eyes are trained on me.

His lips touch mine, softly this time. And I don’t utter a word to tell him to stop.

Will it always be like this?

If I hate him, will I still let him touch me?

If I despise him, will I still let him kiss me?

I’m so confused and afraid of that because I don’t even truly know what I feel for him yet. It’s so mixed, so many ups and downs that the emotions are playing within me and making me so uncertain.

His kisses drop lower, riding up the pajama shirt I’m wearing, leaving me in just my underwear with my shirt around my neck exposing my breasts. He sucks on a nipple and sparks start to fly, ones I’ve never experienced.

I definitely like it when he does that.

He bites my nipple softly, sucking it and making a popping sound before he goes onto the next. He repeats the process, his free hand skims down, pulling my panties out the way, down my thighs. I lift up to let him, like my body has a mind of its own, like it knows what it should be doing. I don’t know how it does when I’ve never done this before. His wet kisses drop lower, leaving his marks all over my body.

Feeling him everywhere, touching everywhere, his hand cups between my legs. I want to close them tightly shut because that’s uncharted territory.

He pushes at my knees to keep them open and says, “Just relax.” He breathes on my pubic bone, so close, I can feel his warm breath on my exposed sex. I like it. My knees drop, hoping and trusting he won’t hurt me. Then Elina’s words run through my mind that it’s painful, that it will hurt, so I attempt to close them again. This time I can’t because his body is already there, his head is already firmly placed down there.

I lift up on my elbows so I can see him, he feels me move and looks up at me, while he kisses just above my clit. He smirks up at me, then I watch in fascination as his tongue swipes out and licks me like a lollypop. It’s pleasure, the heat of his breath, the touch of warmth, then the cool of the air. It all becomes too much. He does it again, and again. I can feel my body taking over.

He inserts a finger, it doesn’t hurt, it feels good, so damn good with his tongue working as well. I lift back up on my elbows to see what he’s doing. His face is buried between my legs, his eyes are downcast, and soon I can feel my legs shaking. My head drops back, he pushes his finger in harder, and his tongue hits just the right spot. My toes begin to curl, my back arches and soon I’m screaming. He releases me when I try to close my legs and climbs up my body. He’s hovering over me, I can feel his breath which smells of me.

  “Freya…”

Managing to open my eyes, just barely. “Yes.” My voice is low.

  His eyes shine into mine.

What is that I see in there? I keep looking, waiting for something to come to me.

“Goodnight.” He kisses my forehead, lays down next to me. And turns around, leaving me laying there panting heavily.

  ***

I wake to noises, I’m in the middle of the bed, tied up in a sheet. Feeling refreshed, that was one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long, long time. There’s yelling though, so I stand and make my way to the door. When I open it the voices become
louder and louder. Viktor’s back is to me, he’s standing just outside the room talking to Anton and Kazier. They both stop talking when they see me, Viktor turns and his eyes are angry when they land on me.

“What?” I say to them. Viktor looks down to the ground as Kazier’s voice starts. I don’t register what he says until after he’s said it.

“You know, Boyra.” I nod my head, of course I do, he was my first crush. He’s Patrick’s friend. The same guy from the sushi restaurant last night. I was very surprised to see him. Although I shouldn’t have been, he goes everywhere with Patrick. “He wants to deal with us.”

I shake my head. What does that mean?

“I don’t understand.” I look to Viktor whose eyes are still on the floor.

  “You trust him? Boyra?”

“Yes.” I do. Well, from what I remember I always have.

“Good.” He nods his head and looks to Viktor. Viktor doesn’t acknowledge me.

  “Your marriage is being annulled.”

My eyes go wide as I turn to Kazier’s voice. I look to Viktor again, this time he’s looking at me, his face is straight, all of his emotions are gone.

“You want this?” I ask him.

  “Yes.”

Turning around I look at the boys in the room, they’re all watching me. None of them say a word, after all this time so much is kept hidden.

And now I have to get a divorce? This doesn’t make any sense.

“My father knows?” I ask Kazier.

“He does.” Those two words shock me the most. I was never meant to get a divorce, it was in or death. No other way around it, none of this is making sense to me.

“Go and pack, Freya,” Viktor says in a tone that’s harsher than I would have liked. After the things we did last night, well now that I think about it, he did.

  Was it me?

“Fuck you all,” I say turning and walking back to the room. I grab a bag and start to throw my things inside it. Looking down at my hand, the band on my finger shines brightly so I pull it off and throw it at the wall.

What a waste of time all this was.

Why did they even make me do this?

To get married if it wasn’t to last.

“We need to go, Freya,” Kazier says entering the room by himself. I finish throwing my clothes in and turn to him while I pull up my pants. I’d usually ask him to leave, but I’m too angry to even care right now.

“I’m leaving, not you,” I throw back at him.

“I have to take you to him,” he says.

  “To who?”

  “Boyra.”

“What does Boyra have to do with anything?”

“You will be marrying him, Freya.”

“Oh fuck this, you fucks are completely fucked in the head if you think I am doing this. Fuck you all and your marriage shit. First, it was you, then it was Viktor. You think I’m a fucking doll you can pass around? I think not,” I say screaming at them.

  “You don’t have a choice.”

I laugh at them. “You’re wrong, I do.” I feel around for the gun in my bag. “Start moving,” I say telling him to hurry up. As we walk to the car, I pull out my phone and send a message. Climbing in the back, Anton sits next to me and I make my plan because they can all go to fucking hell for all I care. Even if he is good at licking pussy, he can go fuck a duck from now on.

“I need to pee,” I tell them when I see the gas station sign coming up. Kazier pulls the car in and I grab my handbag when I get out.

“I’m coming,” Anton says. I roll my eyes at him and walk behind the station with Anton following closely behind. I notice the car sitting there, Angelina has been following us for a while, staying back and waiting for me.

Yanking the door of the bathroom open quickly I enter, and when I shut it I try to look for a window to climb out of. There is none. So I pull the gun from my bag and open the door again, Anton turns to look at me but before he can reach for his own weapon I fire at him in the leg making him drop to the ground. Then I run. Angelina has the door open and ready for me to climb in.

“Drive… drive fast.” She nods her head and goes back the way we came in. Except this time she’s on a different road, not the main highway we were originally on. I look behind me, expecting to see them but I don’t, and so I turn to take a deep breath.

“You shot him?” Angelina asks looking down at the gun.

“It was the only way without him chasing me.”

  “But you shot him, Freya.”

I shrug my shoulders. “Yeah, yeah, he shouldn’t have followed me.”

  She laughs. “Where to.”

  “Far away. Very far away.”

  Chapter 9

  Viktor

A single gunshot rings out and Kazier and I are out of the car within seconds. Running around to where the bathroom is located, Anton is on the ground swearing. I run past him and into the bathroom but she’s not there. The doors are open and there’s no sign of her at all. Anton is trying to stand when I step back outside.

“Where is she?” I ask and he just laughs at me for a second or two.

“No… how are you? Since your wife shot me in the fucking leg!”

“Well, you shouldn’t have let her get away.”

“She shot me, dickhead,” he says pointing to his leg.

“You’re lucky she’s a good shot,” is all I say walking back to the car. I hear them behind me when I reach the car, Anton is bitching me out as well as bitching about Freya and I don’t care. I know who she would have gone with—her friend with the scar on her face. She’d be the only one who she would have called.

As soon as I’m in the car, I try calling her. Kazier starts it up and hands me a lighter and nods back to Anton. Anton puts his leg up on the middle console of the car while her phone rings and rings with no answer.

“Do it,” he screams while I heat up the blade.

“Is the bullet still in there?” I ask just before I bring the knife down. He looks down and touches it.

“Fuck!” His head drops back and he knows I have to get it out. I drop the knife to the floor and lean my hand back, so it’s on his open wound. He pours some vodka on my hand just before I touch it and he jumps as I push my fingers into the wound.

  “Hold still.”

“Fuck you, you stupid prick,” he says picking up the bottle for himself. I feel the tip of the bullet and pinch it between my fingers as I pull it out slowly. He grunts at Kazier and me. He knows the pain, he’s been shot at more times than most of us.

“It needs stitches now, the wound is too wide.”

“You have fat fingers, that’s why,” he complains chugging as much alcohol as possible.

“Turn left.” He does as I say. “Right.” There’s a house on the right which I point to and his car comes to a stop. I jump out, run up the stairs and when I get there the door is open. I walk in and it’s eerily quiet. Not even the sound of a television can be heard.

“I’ll go around back.” Kazier’s voice comes from behind me.

On the floor in the room I see blood first and a whimper follows. I run to it to see Angelina on the floor, she’s laying on the other side of the couch, her head is bleeding and she’s unconscious.

“Angelina…” I shake her but she doesn’t wake up. Kazier walks in with his gun raised and sees her on the floor. He picks her up and carries Angelina outside without a word. I run upstairs, since Kazier came in from the back, hoping Freya is just hiding. This would be very unlikely knowing Freya the way we do. A hand stain is on one of the doors—a blood outlined hand stain. I quickly run to each room, checking in the bedrooms then the closets, but she’s definitely not here. No sign of her at all. My fist comes out fast and connects with the drywall, my hand going straight through it.

“Get in the car, Viktor,” Anton yells out. When I reach them Angelina is awake, just barely, her head in Anton’s lap.

“Where is she?” I ask, Kazier starts driving fast.

  “Sc
um took her.” Scum meaning Italians.

“Call your fucking wife,” I tell him throwing his phone at him. He puts it on speaker as he calls her.

  “Baby,” she purrs.

Anton laughs and she instantly goes quiet.

  “Elina, who is Gesepi?”

She goes quiet for a second. “My cousin. Why do you need to know that, Kazier?”

  “Where does he live, Elina?”

  “Why,” she asks again.

  “He took Freya.”

She shoots off his address and Kazier hangs up on her. “Call Death, give him the address,” Kazier commands.

Anton pulls out his phone and calls him, he argues for a bit before he gets hung up on. Their relationship is odd, I still can’t work out if Death even likes him, or just wants to kill him every time he sees him.

  ***

We pull up to a house that’s shrouded in darkness, but that means nothing. If they’re smart they won’t make it known that they are there. Death makes us jump when he comes to my window banging on it once sending the all clear. We climb out leaving Anton in the car with Angelina who has fallen back to sleep. Death looks in and raises his eyebrows at him.

“Shut your face,” Anton says before Death can even say anything.

  “They have Freya,” Kazier says.

Death looks to me. “Your ex-wife,” he asks.

Fuck, how does he even know any of that? This crap only went down this morning.

“Anton,” he tells me who told him. Death doesn’t wait for us to give orders, he thinks he’s best being stuck in that basement. He’s wrong. He is fast, strong, and just as good as us. We need him more than the dead do.

He goes straight around the front, Kazier goes to the side of the house. I walk up to the door and give two sharp knocks. I hear footsteps coming my way and as soon as the door opens, I stab a knife through the person’s eye. They don’t have a chance to make a noise before their body drops to the ground, a loud thump is all that can be heard.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are,” I say stepping into the house. I hear more footsteps running now, followed by lighter steps. A loud thud is what I hear next, then I see Death dragging a man by his collar. He drops him at my feet.
