Captivated Heat Page 10

by Morgan Fox

When Daniel had popped the question, as strange as it was to hear, she’d known in an instant that her answer would be yes. It had always been so.

Before she knew what all the commotion going on around her was, her backyard had been turned into the perfect spot for a wedding. The flowers had all been relocated, a wedding arch brought out, and chairs lined up in two small rows.

“Oh, my God, you really weren’t kidding about getting married right now?”

“Are you okay with that? I know it’s not official without the marriage license, but—”

“Hell, yes,” she said, cutting off his words.

He took her hands and held them in his. “I know this might not be the kind of wedding you’d hoped for. We can always—”

She placed her fingers over his mouth. “Remember, I’m the gal who’d take a beer and hot sex over anything fancy. I only need you and your love, Daniel. That’s all I’ve ever needed.”

His warm, panty-dropping grin had her shoving to her toes to plant a delicious kiss to his lips.

“Get married first,” Jason ordered, ushering them down the aisle.

Someone she didn’t recognize stood at the wedding arch. Daniel quickly whispered that he’d hired someone to preside over the wedding and they’d been waiting in their car for the green light to come back. Sam smiled, loving how he’d thought of everything.

As she stood beside Daniel, she felt a tug at her elbow and turned to see her dearest friend Liza smiling broadly at her. She hugged Sam in an instant, her chin-length brown hair sweeping over her cheek.

“Oh my God, I can’t believe you’re here. I thought for sure you’d gotten stuck at the office again.”

Liza smiled at her as she eased back from the embrace. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world. Layla kept me in the loop on timing.” She glanced down at her business suit. “I actually just landed an hour ago.”

“Thank you for being here. Will you stand with me?” Sam asked.

“I’d be honored.” Liza squeezed her hand, tears welling in her eyes. “I’ve missed you, Sam. I’m so happy for you.”

“Thank you. But really, stop being a stranger and come by Iron Horse. I’ll buy you a drink and we’ll catch up.”

“You’re on,” Liza said with a soft laugh. “How can I resist that offer?”

The wedding itself lasted only a few minutes and all Sam really remembered was the loving reflection in Daniel’s eyes. He held her hands, and never looked anywhere but at her. Then when it was time to kiss her, he really kissed her, cupping the back of her head as he devoured her as if no one else stood around them. Their friends cheered once again. Brynn shouted, “Get a room.” It was perfect.

“How about we blow this event for a night of drinking and celebrating at Iron Horse?” Jason shouted and everyone else joined in.

Sam frowned. “Are you sure? It’s—”

Jason hugged her, pulling her out of Daniel’s grasp. “You’ve always been like a sister to me, Sam. Now you are. Stop bitching and enjoy the night.”

Slowly, everyone started filtering out of the house and leaving for Iron Horse. Daniel was the only one not moving.

“What are you doing?” Sam asked, eyeing him curiously. “Everyone’s leaving. Shouldn’t we go since it’s supposed to be our reception?”

He nodded, a slow smile brewing on his lips. “They should leave.” After the last person stepped out the door, he moved to close it, and then faced her. “It’s hard to consummate a marriage with all those watchful eyes on us.” He paused. “Unless you’re into that kind of thing.”

She bit her lower lip. “You want to consummate our marriage now, then, do you?”

“You’re damn right I do.” He closed the distance between them, his movements like a wild animal. “I’ve wanted this night for a long damn time.”

She put her hands up to block him. “I should make you suffer a little longer,” she teased. “Make you really miss me.”

He added a bit of pressure to her hand, showing her that he wasn’t about to let her stop him from taking what was his. “One second away from you is torture. A few days have been hell.”

“Then I suggest you make love to me now, before it’s too late.” She let her hand fall away.

Within a blink of an eye, he crushed against her, kissing her to the point of breathlessness. He lifted her up and carried her into the bedroom, tossing her to the bed. The passion that fired between them was maddening.

Her hands shook as she frantically removed every stitch of his clothing. Then he did the same to her, pulling the bikini strings lose and tearing the material free of her body. She lifted her hips to shimmy out of her jean shorts and bikini bottoms. Once they were naked, and clawing for one another, he parted her legs and slipped inside, their joining like heaven. Nothing came between them.

His mouth was on her neck, cheek, and lips as he took her to the brink, the desire and need so overwhelming. Her heart beat to an impossible rhythm, slamming against her ribs. She dug her nails into his biceps as he thrust over and over again, sending her crying out in release. Even as she reached oblivion, he wasn’t through with her, tossing her onto her belly and taking her from behind, his hands gripping her hips in a primal, possessive way.

“My wife,” he said in a guttural tone, one that had her pussy clamping around his cock.

Damn, she liked hearing him say that, loved the way the words swirled around in her belly and fired her blood. “Yes,” she gasped. “Yours. Forever.”

The muscles of his body tensed as he climaxed, bucking his hips a dozen more times, emptying his seed into her womb. Her entire body pulsed and tingled.

Falling to the bed, she muttered, “Holy shit.”

He chuckled, collapsing beside her. The moment had been filled with a frenzy of love and lust, one overwhelming the other.

  “Wow,” she panted.

“I’m glad you said it,” he said with a smile. “Hearing a woman breathless can really boost a man’s ego.”

  She smiled. “That was—intense.”

He turned to his side, facing her. His eyes filled with the love she felt. She brushed her hand over the side of his face. “I love you,” she whispered. “I’ll love you for the rest of my life. I don’t think I’ve ever had a choice in the matter. Even when I thought I did.”

He took her hand and kissed the palm of her hand. “You are my heart, Sammy. You’ve always been the one for me and I’ll spend the rest of my life showing you just how much I love you, too.”

After a long while of simply lying on the bed together, they decided that it was best if they headed to Iron Horse for their reception. As they walked through the doors, their friends and family greeted them. The sight left Sam’s chest bursting with happiness. She was sure she was dreaming.

Daniel’s hand tightened around hers as he led her toward the bar. Brynn was standing on the other side and popped the top off two bottles of beer and slid them their way. Sam smiled, tilting the bottle toward her in thanks.

Jason had brought in a live band for the night and Zerina, Jeremy, Layla, Luke, and Liza were dancing, and the tables were draped in white linen. A buffet table at the back was filled with scrumptious foods, prime rib, roasted potatoes, green beans, baked macaroni and cheese, and a dozen other dishes.

“You got all this done in a few days?” she asked, meeting Daniel’s gaze, completely stunned by it all.

“Your friends are amazing people, Sammy. I told Jason what I wanted to do. He pulled a staff meeting and Layla, Zerina, and Brynn jumped to help. Layla and Brynn took over the catering needs while Zerina handled the decorating. Jason wanted to provide the location, band, and alcohol.” He winked. “Kind of nice having a bar owner for a brother.”

  She laughed. “No kidding.”

After an hour or so of mingling, dancing, and drinking, Daniel made his way back to her, pulling her away from the crowd. “We’ll need to make this truly official, you know?”

  She nodded, under
standing that they needed to do all the legal marriage paperwork.

“Unless you’d like to get married on our honeymoon?”

Her brow shot up. “Honeymoon? We get a honeymoon, too?”

He grinned. “Of course we do. How do a warm ocean breeze and white sandy beaches sound to you?”

She hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Like all I’m missing is the beer and great sex.”

He laughed, holding her waist. “I was thinking about Aruba or Jamaica.”

“Antigua,” she blurted out. “I’ve always wanted to go there.”

“Antigua it is.” He kissed her. “I hear they have excellent Jell-O wrestling.”

Her grin was impossible to hide. “Is that so?” She poked him in the ribs and he laughed, but the action didn’t stop him from continuing to tease her.

“Hmm, they even let you pick the flavor of Jell-O you wish to wrestle around in.”

She trailed her fingertips down his chest and cupped his groin, then asked, “Is clothing optional?”

His eyes darkened. “The use of clothing is”—she squeezed his hardening shaft—“frowned upon.”

She shivered as his hands swept low on her back, caressing her buttocks. “Oh, good. I’d hate to stain my new swimsuit.”

He groaned as she teased his cock, his breathing more erratic.

“Besides, licking every square inch of my body will be so much easier for you if I’m naked.” She released him and started to walk away.

“Oh, no, you don’t.” He brought her into his arms, leading her to the storeroom.

She couldn’t help the girlish giggle that bubbled up from her chest. “I’m feeling a bit like Brynn right now.”

He frowned, clearly not understanding. “I’m not following.”

With a quick glance around them she asked, “How do you feel about sex in a storeroom?”

“I’d have sex on a glacier if it was with you.”

She grinned. “Good. I think I need to let go a bit and enjoy myself. It is my wedding day, after all.” She pulled her shirt up over her head and handed it to him, unfastening her bra as she made her way toward the storeroom. Cocking her head to the side, she asked, “Are you coming?”

He licked his lips. “Not yet, but I have a good feeling I will be soon.”

She laughed, sliding her jeans down her hips to show him that she wasn’t wearing any panties. “Oh, I’m pretty sure you will be,” she told him, kicking her boots off.

By the time he entered the storeroom, she was completely bare and feeling insatiable. Within a few short strides, he had his shirt off and his jeans open. She sat on a stack of boxes, and crooked her finger for him to come to her. He did.

  “I’m all yours,” she whispered.

“And I’m yours. Always.” He slid inside her, a groan of pleasure escaping him. He kissed her, brushing his lips tenderly over hers as he slowly moved inside her. “You’ll never be alone. I’ll protect you, especially your heart, with everything I have, with all that I am. From this day forward, you are my breath, my life. I promise you this, I’ll never stop loving you.”

Tears welled in her eyes at his heartfelt declaration. And as they made love, she’d felt whole, as if every part of her life had finally come together and all the pieces fit beautifully. Holding him close, she kissed him, so full of love and joy and the prospect of making a life with him that it consumed her heart and soul, overwhelming her.

Things might not have started out easy for them, but together they would have an incredible life. She knew it. Felt it. This moment was the start of a bright future together, with a man she loved. This was perfect and Daniel was her forever.
