“The day we met darlin’.” Best day of his life, except for this one...

“Oh my god! I had the exact same dream!” Oh jinkys!

  “How is that even possible?”

She looked at him sheepishly. “I’m guessing that I kind of unknowingly projected my dream to you.”

“You can do that?” His little mate truly was remarkable.

She shrugged. “I’ve never done it before but I heard that some witches can send images into the heads of people they’re close to, like family or their mates...”

He smirked. “So the dream where I was a doctor and you were a nurse, the one where I was chasing through the castle, they all came from you?”

She blushed furiously, damnit he’d seen them all! He knew what a dirty girl she was!

“I gotta say darlin’ I really enjoyed them.”

She stared at him incredulously. “You did?!”

“Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed just sleeping so much in my life. And besides I like the idea of us sharing dreams, I’ll know I’m the man you’re dreaming of.”

She nibbled his earlobe. “I don’t think you have to worry about that, but it’s good to know that we’re together even in our dreams.” She raked her fingers down his chest, scraping his nipples. “Perhaps we could even bring a few of our dreams to life cowboy.”

  “Sounds like a plan.” Mine.

  Epilogue

The following day Don and Kayleigh made the joint decision to keep the news of their bonding quiet. Don would talk to the Alpha first about Kayleigh joining the pack and they would take it from there.

The library was opening for the first time since the storm hit and Kayleigh was due back at work. She arrived for work at 10am and by noon the whole town knew they had bonded.

Don grouched about her big mouth, but in her defence her boss Terri had asked her what she had done during their enforced time off. Kayleigh had buckled and told Terri everything. In her defence it was a very probing question and Kayleigh was only human!

Kayleigh then had to tell Melanie, she couldn’t tell Terri and not tell her best friend. She then had to tell Carly too. She didn’t think it was fair if Terri and Melanie knew and Carly didn’t. Then Terri and Melanie told their mates, who then told their families. Then Mrs Martin got wind of it and the rest is history. The Alpha was actually the last to find out.

Although disgruntled Adam had welcomed Kayleigh into the pack.

Don had been a little concerned about how people would react to their mating. He was old enough to be her father... But Kayleigh had the perfect response to anyone who judged them, or thought they shouldn’t be together. Fuck ‘em. They loved each other, they were fated to be together and the age difference didn’t matter one iota. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

As a mated couple their first step was to find a new cabin together. Don’s was far too small, the closet alone wouldn’t hold even a third of Kayleigh’s shoes, and there was no way she could part with a single pair. She said it was like Sophie’s choice with shoes.

They lucked out when they found out Jeanette was moving out of her three bedroom cabin to live with her daughter Kristy to help out with her kids. Which was becoming more pressing since Kristy had just discovered she was pregnant with her fifth pup.

It was like a game of musical chairs. Jeanette moved into her daughter’s house, taking over her grandson Casey’s room. Casey moved out of his parent’s house and into Don’s cabin, now his ‘bachelor pad’. Leaving Don and Kayleigh to move into Jeanette’s house. Bingo, everyone was a lot happier.

Casey had some privacy whilst also being close to his family, making him available to babysit. Jeanette got to spend more time with her granddaughters and ease some of the strain from Kristy. And Kayleigh got a whole bedroom for her shoes and clothes! Plus with such a big house there were so many rooms to christen. For the first few days clothes were not necessary at all.

Adam was also pleased that Don was closer to the rest of the pack, and starting to take more of an interest in pack life. Being with Kayleigh gave Don a renewed enthusiasm for training and teaching wolves and pups how to hunt and track. He finally felt free and satisfied. For once he truly believed the best years of his life were ahead of him.

Whilst Kayleigh, having put to rest the visions of her own wolf, took on more clients for readings. The fact that it was a vision that brought her to Rose to find her true mate really impressed a number of she-wolves all keen to meet their own true mates. The urge to mate and birth pups was strong.

For Kayleigh and Don the question of pups was a bit of a sticky subject. Don liked the idea of having a pup, but wasn’t sure how he felt about becoming a dad in his forties. Kayleigh on the other hand had never really wanted kids, after growing up with her own mother as a role model she wasn’t exactly enamoured with the idea of having her own. For the time being they decided to just enjoy being with each other.

They decided to take life as it came, one day at a time. Whilst enjoying and acting out lots of steamy fantasies!
