  "Beautiful wedding, mate," Marco said.

"Thanks.” Damon looked relaxed, holding a champagne flute. "I'm glad you could come.”

"Wouldn't miss it for the world.”

"Nice girl you've got there," Damon said, indicating to Alex.

"Yeah," Marco said, returning his gaze to her.

"You're watching her like a hawk. She's not going to disappear.”

  "She might.”

Damon chuckled. "Like that, is it? Then you haven't noticed the way she looks at you. She's not going anywhere. At least not tonight.”

Sebastian joined them. "Seb," Damon said. Sebastian's eyes were a little bit glassy with drink and he looked relaxed and mellow, with Esme sleeping on his shoulder.

"This is a good place for a wedding," Sebastian said. The moon was coming up, shining on the darkening sea. "Very nice.”

"Are you staying in New Zealand for a while?" Marco asked.

"We're staying a month. Tomorrow we're going to Queenstown.”

  "Are you going to ski?"

"Maybe. I'd like to, but no skiing for Sam. Not this time.” His gaze travelled over to his wife, whose hands were absently stroking her belly.

Judith came over and look the sleeping Esme off Sebastian's shoulder. "I'll put her down on the couch by the fire inside," Judith said, smiling down at the little sleeping face. "She is just my little cherub.”

Sebastian sighed and circled his shoulder around, then rifled through his suit pocket, bringing out an oblong box. "Cigar?"

"Sure," Damon said and reached into the packet. With a smile, Marco followed suit.

"Cuban," Damon said, rolling it around between his fingers before taking the tip off. He retrieved a twig from the fire and they all lit theirs in turn.

The acrid smoke ticked the back of Marco's throat and he suppressed an urge to cough. He wasn't drunk enough for smoking, but this was a cigar and it was a special occasion.

"So, number two on the way?" Damon said.

  "Yes," Sebastian said with pride.

  "And you'll stop at two.”

"Absolutely not. I love everything about growing my family—every part of it.” Sebastian's eyes were longingly taking in his wife's body.

Still a bit creepish in Marco's eyes, but he was glad his sister had found someone who obviously loved her and her family as much as Sebastian did. "How long are you going to keep knocking my sister up?"

"Until she says no," Sebastian smiled, almost a little sheepishly.

Marco's eyes travelled to Alex, with her taut stomach. He'd be there one day. That really was a step beyond the pale for Alex at right now, probably for him too, but they would get there, and he couldn't wait. Smiling, he took another drag of the cigar. The future was bright and it stretched out before him. He didn't really care where it led, as long as she was there. "She's the one," he said quietly.

  The End

Peter’s story is next in the series. He insisted we couldn’t leave him there. The Gem.

The Gem – Book 4 D’Arth Series - Peter Dunham is an unrepentant bastard, and he likes his life just the way it is. At the top of his profession, he knows his position is secure, having worked hard to get where he is. But a car crash turns his life upside down and for the first time, he is forced to depend on someone. Interestingly, the girl brought in to help him doesn’t bend to his commands as easily as he expected.

Shay McPherson, newly arrived in London, is ecstatic getting her first nursing job, but it turned out more complicated than anything she’d trained for. The client was wilful, not to mention unreasonable, and it didn’t help that he seemed to enjoy making her blush—and she wasn’t a prude, for the record.

An Absent Wife - The desertion of Lord Lysander Warburton's wife had come as a complete surprise, even though he readily admitted that he'd never excelled as a husband. The death of the wife he'd ignored for close to a decade was a downright nuisance, making him further fodder for the gossips, and now a target for every designing matron in London.

In line with her consistent talent for being disagreeable, Lady Adele Warburton had run off with a lowly lieutenant, leaving safety and respectability behind, then died in a cholera epidemic in a far flung country.

In a last show of husbandly duty, Lysander decides to recover her effects, and grudgingly those of her lover, retracing the steps of the wife he'd barely known across half the world. But arriving in the mayhem of India, he finds that all is not as it should be.

Sequence Effect - Gwennie Elders doesn't regret for a moment the debt she took on to extend her grandmother's life, but when running into trouble with repayments she had to resort to drastic actions to save her family's business and apartment. It would only be a year of her life and she'd be unconscious throughout--to awaken debt-free and able to resume her life as a baker on the city's ground level, hemmed in by the towers where the wealthy and privileged lived. But there are no easy and options, and although she emerges from her servitude debt-free, her family's business and her means of support fleeted away while she was asleep, forcing her to seek a means to support herself in the coming war.

Amongst Silk and Spice - Sir Hugo Beauford had no idea what to expect when the king summoned him from Calais, away from the battles securing the French throne for their English king. A quest to find Earl Chanderling’s wayward daughter was not something he wanted, but being a knight in the king’s service, he was duty-bound to fulfill his king’s wishes - even if the bothersome girl he remembered had last been heard of in Venice. He’d never had plans to travel as far east as Venice, let alone much farther as this quest took more effort than he could have imagined - including dragging an unwilling and continuously challenging young woman across the known world.
