Malakei gave himself a mental headshake to get out of the lusty fog. He chuckled. “Nope.” He pulled a bottle of water out the fridge and cracked it open. With both drinks in hand, he walked over to Seth. He handed him the glass.

  “No liquor for you?”

“No. I don’t really drink. I had the glass of wine last night and that was good enough.”

Seth made a face. “Not even a beer? You don’t like losing a little of your inhibition?”

“Not with liquor or drugs. I’d rather get lost in music… or… sex.”

Seth grinned, raising the glass. “Well then, here’s to losing yourself.”

Malakei nodded and toasted his bottle with Seth’s glass. “And to you for losing the game.”

“Don’t be so sure. You break.” Seth turned and grabbed the stick. He handed it to Malakei.

“How do you know I want you to touch my stick?” Malakei grimaced the minute the words left his lips. He wasn’t really trying to egg him on.

Seth slinked up to Malakei. “You can touch mine, too, if you want.” He sipped his beer.

Malakei shook his head and turned away to focus on the table. He stood to the right of Seth and leaned over. Just as he was about to push the stick, music blared from the sound system, nearly giving him a heart attack.

“Fuck,” Malakei muttered. He watched Seth playing with the sound deck.

“Oh gods, sorry.” Seth smiled, turning it down.

  “You did that on purpose.”

“I swear I didn’t. Just thought some tunes could get us in the mood, you know?”

Malakei wondered what mood Seth was going for. He harrumphed and went back to aiming his stick at the white ball. He curled his fingers and hit it, causing two striped balls to fall into the side pocket.

“Well, well. You might be better than I thought.”

“I am better.” Malakei moved around the table, studying his next move. “Are we calling shots?”

  Seth shrugged. “Why not?”

The volume on the stereo went up a little higher on the Dallians’ track, “Decisive or Corrosive.”

“Dude, you’re wicked. You like the fucking Dallians?”

Malakei studied his stripes and pushed the stick through his fingers. “Nine ball, right corner pocket. I’ve always liked them.” The ball touched the edge of the hole and didn’t fall in. “Dang.”

“Ooh, guess it’s my turn.” Seth grabbed one of the other sticks and put his beer on the ledge. He strutted around the table, banging his head while he sang the lyrics. “Five ball, right side pocket.” Seth leaned over the table just enough to give Malakei a view of his lean body from the side. With that motion, his shirt hiked up, revealing the left portion of Seth’s inked torso. If only he could trace them with his fingers and memorize the things, he could die a happy man.

  “Jesus.”

Seth poked the stick, and the cue ball crashed with the five, causing it to go exactly where he wanted it to.

  “Mm-hmm. Nice.”

“Admiring my talent, aye, Malakei? I’m good on the guitar, the pool table, and in bed, baby.” Seth tapped the left side. “Six ball,” he sang in his accent to the tune of the new song playing by the same band.

Malakei snickered and stood, waiting for Seth to finish his turn. Unfortunately for him, Seth didn’t end quickly, and before he knew it, Seth ran his ring-covered fingers through his hair and called for the only solid ball left on the table. “Eight ball, sweetheart. Slider to the side.”

Malakei watched helplessly as Seth arched his back to get ready for the shot. He angled over to the left and lightly tapped, forcing the ball to roll into the hole.

  “Whoa. You’re….”

“Better. Yes. And we didn’t play for anything.” Seth placed the stick on the table and stood with his beer in one hand, eyeing Malakei.

Malakei shrugged. “Yeah, we don’t have to. You up for another game?”

Seth nodded with a grin. “Yep. And I’ll break this time.”

  Chapter Sixteen

“BETTER BRING it now, or never,” Seth sang to Hades Escaped playing on the dock, while he watched Malakei knock the last ball in.

  “Yes, finally. I won one.”

Seth shrugged. “I let you win.”

“What?” Malakei put the stick down and made a face.

“I did. I’d beaten you four times in a row. Had to, so you wouldn’t lose confidence.”

The song changed to a slower tune to fit the mood. Although Seth was into heavier music, he didn’t mind the switch, considering this would hopefully be his first intimate moment with Malakei.

“Whatever.” Malakei rolled down his sleeves.

“No, no, don’t do that.” Seth finished his third beer and ambled over to him. He grabbed his sleeves, pulling them back up over his forearms. “I like your skin.”

Malakei licked his lips. “You do? What is it about my skin that attracts you?”

“Is that a trick question?” Seth leaned in close, nuzzling the spot right underneath Malakei’s chin. Even after five games of billiards, he was still buttoned up.

Seth ran the tip of his nose over Malakei’s perfectly starched collar. Aftershave and a faint smell of cologne hit him like a ton of bricks, making him dizzy. Seth inhaled deeply, committing the pleasant odors to memory, hoping he could smell them on the regular.

Malakei exhaled loud enough for Seth to hear. “You’re going to make this hard for me, aren’t you?”

“Not just gonna, I am.” Seth licked up to his chin and lightly kissed it. The small fuzz on Malakei’s jawline brushed against his mouth and tongue. “You like me, Malakei.”

“Yeah,” Malakei said through shaky breaths. “I don’t want to mess up things for you.”

“And how the hell would you do that?”

“’Cause you guys are just getting started and….”

Seth put his finger on Malakei’s lips, stopping him. Every part of Seth wanted to throttle Malakei and kiss him senseless. The only reason he held back was to make sure Malakei was ready for it.

“You won’t. We like one another. A lot. We could be good together, you and I.”

  “Umm.”

Seth snorted. “We could.” Reluctantly, Seth moved away and gazed into Malakei’s gorgeous brown pools. His irises caught the light, making them appear as if they were glowing.

  “I…. Seth, this is….”

“Too much? You want me to stop?”

Malakei stared, mouth agape. “I don’t….”

“Then I won’t,” Seth said, moving in closer. To prove his point, Seth knelt on the edge of the table while the other foot stayed planted on the floor. This gave Malakei full access to Seth if he wanted it.

“Dammit, Seth,” Malakei ground out. “If you’re gonna be this close….”

  “Kiss you?”

  “Well, ye—”

At that moment, Seth cut off those last words, forcing his mouth and body on top of Malakei’s. Seth used all of his weight, causing Malakei to fall backward.

  Sweet Jesus.

Once Malakei lay flat on the table, Seth crawled on top of him. When their crotches mated through the fabric, Seth couldn’t help but move against Malakei to feel how hard he was. Lips still intertwined, Seth cared nothing of the outside world. It could be on fire for all he cared as long as he had Malakei underneath him.

For nights on end, he’d wondered what it would be like to be with Malakei. Now that he knew, he didn’t want to let the feeling go.

Grinding himself on Malakei, Seth nearly lost his breath. A surge of energy filled him, sending shocks to every part of his body. He devoured Malakei as if he couldn’t get enough.

“You want me?” Seth asked through hampered breaths and kisses. When his hand drifted down to Malakei’s neckline, Seth tugged at his collar, then loosened his tie to reveal skin. He unbuttoned the top two and made a trail with the tip of his tongue over the huge lump in Malakei’s throat.

  “Yes…. Oh God,
I want you. I want this.” Malakei sounded frantic. He didn’t stop Seth. Instead, his hands roamed Seth’s midsection, caressing his side and abs underneath his T-shirt.

Goose pimples formed on his flesh when Malakei touched him. Malakei was the On switch that turned Seth on. The electricity from his fingers sent shocks to every nerve ending in his body. Knowing this, it would be hard for Seth to settle down.

Thoroughly aroused, Seth continued nipping Malakei’s flesh, sucking hard as if his life depended on it. His skin tasted sweet with a hint of tang from where the cologne had been.

Regardless, it was still Malakei, and Seth desired it all.

Though he loved tasting him, Seth made his way back up to Malakei’s mouth to lock lips with him again.

Apparently thinking the same, Malakei hungrily accepted the kiss. He sucked Seth’s lips and tongue in succession while he fiddled with the button on his jeans.

Seth pulled away from him and stared. He could see the longing in Malakei’s gaze. “You want them off?”

“How about just open for now?”

“A modest one, aren’t you?” Seth rose just enough to unzip his jeans. His hard cock jutted out, already dripping with precum.

  “Wow.”

Seth leaned down again, covering Malakei’s lips. He reached between them, grasping Malakei’s erection through his slacks. “I wanna see you too. I wanna see that gorgeous dick.”

Malakei reached down to pull his belt loose; then he unzipped his slacks. Once he got them open, he reached beyond his boxer briefs. He tugged his hardened shaft from his trousers.

Seth admired the crown of Malakei’s cock, wanting to suck him down to the root. “Fucking gorgeous.” Seth kissed him again before rising to remove his shirt. After tossing it aside, he crouched over his lover and enveloped Malakei’s mouth again.

Wanting more of him, he carefully took his length along with his own in hand. While rubbing the tips of their cocks with his thumb, Seth stroked both in the same motion.

“Jesus.” Malakei moved along with his jerks and ran his hand through Seth’s tangled locks.

“Dammit, I’m not gonna last if you do that. Not….” Instead of saying anything more, Seth pressed their mouths together, still massaging and moving in the same rhythm with Malakei.

Less talking, more moving. Seth sucked in a deep breath and circled Malakei’s mouth with the tip of his tongue, then dipped it back inside.

Malakei groaned into the embrace and curled both arms around Seth’s neck, holding him close.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Seth said in between kisses. He continued to devour his lover’s mouth, controlling the moment. All the while, Seth braced himself for the explosion just beneath the surface.

Only the sounds of their movements on the table and the slapping noises of their bodies pressed together were heard. The smells of beer, cigarettes, and Malakei’s aftershave filled the air, making for a heady mix Seth wished he could bottle up and take with him.

Knowing he wouldn’t be able to hold out much longer, Seth closed his eyes tight and quickened his strokes. Lights sparked along with bursts of color behind his eyelids, telling him his climax was at its highest peak. After a couple more jerks, Seth spilled first, crying out in Malakei’s embrace. His heart hammered against his chest and his breaths labored. Seth didn’t recall the last time he’d cum that hard with anyone. Malakei being the object of his affection certainly added fuel to the fire.

Not long after, Malakei followed him, spurting several jets of his release onto Seth’s hand and midsection. Once he finished, Seth put his hand to his lips and licked it clean.

“Damn….” Malakei continued to stare, caressing Seth’s bare back.

“Damn is right, my man. What do you think about ol’ professionalism now?” Seth traced Malakei’s lips with the tip of his fingers.

“I can’t think of anything except for kissing you again.”

“Good answer.” Seth smiled and pressed his lips atop Malakei’s once more.

AFTER SETH and Malakei cleaned up, Malakei convinced Seth to return to his hotel room. Though Malakei wanted more, he needed to process what just occurred.

That moment. That single occurrence was his undoing. They hadn’t done anything beyond kiss and jerk each other off. Why the heck did it have to be so damn epic?

Besides that, Malakei had disregarded his own rule. He’d just told Barry and Sheena he wouldn’t do anything because it could ruin Seth’s newfound career and his band’s. The members seemed close, but what would happen if Malakei and Seth dated? It would cause problems for sure, and Malakei didn’t want to be responsible for breaking High Stakes up. Malakei had to do what was best, regardless of how much he liked Seth Davies.

Malakei needed to step back and not allow what happened tonight to happen again.

Seemingly, the night passed all too quickly for Malakei. When his alarm awakened him, he slapped it, then immediately jumped into the shower to begin his routine. After drying off, he moisturized, shaved, and brushed his teeth. When he finished, he walked into his closet and picked out his suit for the day, his favorite brown Armani with the burgundy tie. An excellent choice, knowing spring was right around the corner.

As per usual, Malakei made a breakfast shake and poured it into a large thermos he’d carry with him to the studio. With that and his satchel in hand, Malakei headed downstairs to the lobby where the valet would bring his car around.

Once his vehicle was parked, Malakei greeted the man and sped off. In a matter of ten minutes, he arrived and parked in the executive space underneath. He turned on the alarm, then hopped on the elevator that went to the top floor of the 315 building.

Upon Malakei’s arrival, the receptionist greeted him and gave him messages along with his mail. He walked through the double doors and down the hallway until he arrived at the studio where the band practiced. He was usually there earlier, but figured it would be better to be late on purpose so as not to disturb them. After all, Barry was in charge of mixing. After what had happened, Malakei didn’t see it necessary to be there.

Hearing the second song, “Preferential Treatment,” Malakei peeked his head in and smiled. As expected, the guys were rocking out as if they were putting on a show. Seth caught his gaze and winked at Malakei, but didn’t seem to lose his concentration.

Malakei nodded and closed the door. He would text Barry to let him know he was here if he needed him, but in all truth, he was sure he wouldn’t. Bottom line, Malakei should put some distance between himself and Seth. The most important thing was finishing this disc so they could create the hype, not getting each other off on pool tables. There was no question it felt nice.

  More than nice.

  Freaking wonderful.

Malakei couldn’t recall the last time he’d felt so out of control and loved it.

Sure, Peter was good. Better than, especially when he gave head, but Seth. Though he had no clue how Seth performed fellatio, he didn’t doubt Seth would be good at it.

The way he sucked on his fingers, his skin. The way he kissed. His mouth was so wet and hot. Malakei could explode just from kissing him.

How could this be? How could Malakei be so taken and obsessed in such a short time? And why wasn’t he trying harder to forget about it? Malakei would have to. High Stakes would only be around to record the disc. After that, they’d head out on tour and make appearances, meaning Malakei would be separated from Seth no matter what.

  Chapter Seventeen

“ALL RIGHT. That sounded great, guys. You want to take a break while I put this together?” Barry asked them.

“Yeah. I want to go see my man.” Seth smiled and removed his guitar.

Morty and Gio laughed. “His man, he says. Tell your man we want to hang out at his condo!”

“Piss off, Morty. You’re not hanging anywhere unless he’s ready to invite you. I’m not telling him a damn thing,” Seth spat.

“Aw, dude! You’re gonna act like that already?”r />
“Sure am.” Seth walked backward. He gave his band members the finger, then kept on walking out of the doors to Malakei’s office.

In all truth, he had no clue where it was, but he figured it had to be close by. Besides, he needed to ask Malakei why he wasn’t there to watch the band. Perhaps he’d overslept. A good enough reason after last night. And what a night it was!

Seth could hardly sleep once he’d gotten back to the hotel. He’d stared at the ceiling, dreaming of Malakei, kissing and touching him. Fucking him.

Why hadn’t they fucked after that? In all truth, Seth wanted to ask, but he didn’t want to push him since he was still under the radar. Though he wasn’t keen on being with guys who weren’t out, he’d make an exception for Malakei.

Making a right turn, Seth ended up by the lobby again, meaning he’d lost his way. The receptionist smiled at him. “Mr. Davies? Is there something I can help you with?”

  “Yeah. Where is Malakei’s office?”

“Through there. I’ll let him know you’re coming.”

“No, please, no need. I’ll make sure Lena sees me before I just walk in there.” Seth really didn’t want to, but he chose his words carefully.

“All right. Take the path leading to the first door on the left and walk through.”

  “Yes, ma’am, thank you.”

Seth grinned at her and took the route she’d told him. When he walked through, Lena greeted him with a huge smile.

“Hi, Seth. Are you looking for Malakei?”

  “Yes. Is he in there?”

“He is. Should I tell him….” Lena picked up the phone.

“No… um… I kind of want to play a prank on him.” Seth didn’t know if she knew that was the best he could come up with.

“Oh God. I don’t think that’s such a good idea. Malakei doesn’t really like surprises.”

“Well, if he doesn’t, you can blame me.” Seth winked and walked to Malakei’s door. He slowly turned the knob and poked his head in.

“Yeah, Peter, they sound amazing. They’re going to be a huge success. Now I need to find them a promoter I can trust. Yep. Someone to take them everywhere. Back home, then here in the US and Canada.”
