“I’m getting close,” she gasped. “That plug and your cock are a lethal combination.”

“Glad you approve, but just remember, you don’t get to come until I say you can.”

She groaned. “That’s so not fair.”

“You have to learn control,” Ross replied, keeping up the punishing rhythm he’d set, the tight walls of her cunt playing havoc with the sensitized head of his cock. “What is it they teach you in yoga about mind control? Something about withdrawal of the sense organs.”

“Withdrawal of the sense organs from external objects.” The challenging smile she sent him would have earned her a good spanking under normal circumstances. “Do you see yourself as an object, Master?”

Ross tapped her thigh. “Careful! Doing as you’re told is all part of being a good sub and pleasing your Master. You do want to please me, don’t you, sugar?”

“Yes, sir.” Her voice was a strangled moan, implying her mind control wasn’t working. Ross could empathize.

“Like I was saying, this is a very sensual and sexy position.” He disciplined himself to sound conversational rather than desperate. “It’s designed to make you feel vulnerable, and forces you to put your trust in me.” Ross chuckled. “But you’ve already done that, or we wouldn’t be here.”

“Yes.” She sounded as though she was losing the fight to control her blossoming orgasm, but Ross decided to push her just a little farther.

“Seeing as how you’re so flexible, the next time we try this position I might attach your wrists to your ankles, put a gag between your sweet lips, and then take pictures. Now that would be a sight worth seeing.”

  “Aw!”

Ross increased the pace and weight of his smooth downward strokes. His cock had filled and expanded inside her, and the little witch was closing her muscles around it, trying to prevent him from withdrawing.

“Okay, babe,” he said, feeling his groin constrict. “Let’s rock.”

His balls pulled tighter as his control unraveled. He’d miscalculated, testing her limits at the expense of his own. Funny, he’d never had that problem before. There was something about Darcy that redefined normal, and right now he was on the verge of shooting his load prematurely. Some Dom he was proving to be!

He pounded into her so hard that Darcy let rip with a series of increasingly frantic little mewing sounds as she moved with him, pushing herself up to meet his thrusts, her gorgeous body slick with perspiration, as was his. She closed around him, and cried out, her voice loud and uninhibited as she milked his cock like a woman on a mission, her expression wild, her hair spread all over the place below her, her breathing hot against his face as it loomed just above hers. Her abandoned reaction tugged at Ross on a level over which he had no control, chipping away at his emotions, stoking his raging need to make her his. She had barely stopped quivering before he let rip, pounding into her as a white-hot explosion tore through him. He cried out as sperm shot from the end of his cock in an endless stream, making his entire body feel as though it had combusted.

Darcy opened her eyes wide, staring at him as she gasped and he sensed her come for a second time. Ross continued to brand her with his rigid cock, watched her face, knowing without having to ask that nothing like this had ever happened to her before. The experience had never been so profound, so intensely exhilarating for him, either, and he couldn’t help wondering quite what he’d set in motion.

He collapsed over her, still taking his weight on his forearms, his cock still buried deep inside her. They were both breathing heavily, their skin dewy with sweat. Darcy’s eyes still sparkled with the residue of pleasure as she looked up at him, dazed and confused.

“What did you just do to me?” she demanded to know.

  Chapter Ten

Ross released her hands, pulled her into his arms and then collapsed beside her, flat on his back. Darcy rested her head on his broad shoulder, feeling like a different person to the one who’d entered this establishment just a few short hours ago. Their bodies adhered to one another’s, still slick with rapidly cooling perspiration, but they were both breathing heavily and Darcy didn’t think she’d find the energy to move for at least a month.

“What happened, darlin’,” Ross replied to her earlier question, dropping a kiss on her brow, “was we just had mind-blowing sex.”

  “Is it always that good?”

“I have to say that was pretty special, even by my own high standards.”

“I’m glad it wasn’t just me who had such a good time. I felt like I was in a lucid-dream state. It was surreal.”

“Well, if you think it didn’t happen, I’ll be glad to give you a reminder, but I do need just a little recovery time first.”

  “Spoil sport!”

He placed a hand over his heart and sighed dramatically, making her giggle. “The woman’s trying to kill me off with her insatiable demands.”

“Isn’t that every man’s dream way to go? Besides, I thought you wanted to explore the extent of my flexibility.”

“Oh, it is, and I do, but there’s plenty of time. We have all night.”

“Actually, I ought to get home. It’s late, and I have to work in the morning. My boss is a pretty hard taskmaster.”

“Home?” Ross leaned up on one elbow and looked at her quizzically. “You don’t need to go out in the cold, darlin’. I figured you’d stay here.”

She smiled at him. “Thanks for the offer, but I need clean clothes, and all my gear for the morning.” She lifted one hand and stroked his face. “I need my space, Ross. This is all happening too quickly, and I can’t figure out what’s happening when you’re around to distract me.”

“Is that what I am to you?” He pulled a wounded face. “Just a distraction.”

“Oh, I think you have one or two other things going for you,” she replied, laughing as she glanced at his groin.

Darcy was being economical with the truth. Being fucked by Ross was actually the most glorious experience of her entire life—one that had caused her to die a little inside because she was living one great big lie. She had never met anyone who made her feel remotely the way he could, and yet she couldn’t be honest with him. It was so unfair, she wanted to scream with the injustice of it all. The strain of keeping up the pretense would damned near kill her.

Having Ross discover why she was really here, and what she’d done to him and Leo, would definitely finish her off. Darcy felt miserable, and had never liked herself less. Part of her was again tempted to admit everything to Ross, but that would simply be guilt transference. Besides, she couldn’t take the chance, and would have to get through this alone. She had lived happily enough before she met Ross, and would do so again once she’d put this nightmare behind her. It was only smokin’-hot sex, and sex was overrated.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that’s all it is. This guy isn’t the best thing to ever happen to you, is he?

“What’s the matter, babe?” Ross’s concerned gaze was almost her undoing. It caused raw, gut-wrenching pain to rip through her, twisting and tearing at her insides, playing havoc with her strung-out emotions. It would help if he wasn’t so goddamned handsome. Shallow person that she was, his appearance had made a strong impression upon her. And if that wasn’t enough to contend with, unlike her, he had standards, and integrity by the bucket load. Was he for real? If so, he really should come with a health warning, or perhaps enroll in Rick’s conservation program, because he really was a rare and endangered species. “You look preoccupied. Did I hurt you?”

Yes, but not in the way you think. “I’m fine. Just a little stunned by what happened to us, is all.”

“The secret is in delayed gratification.” He looked smugly satisfied with himself. “The more you hold back, the better it is in the end.” He ran a finger lazily across her left breast, causing the nipple to pucker. “A bit like a kid on Christmas day being made to wait to open his presents.”

“Sometimes the wait is a disappointment.”

/>   He flexed a brow, grinned, then raised a threatening hand. “You’re disappointed?”

“No, Sir. Now stop fishing for compliments, and help me find my clothes.”

“Turn over, sweetness. I need to retrieve that plug. After that we’ll take a shower together, then I’ll walk you home.”

“There’s no need for you to turn out in the cold.” He kissed the protest clean off her lips. “There’s every need,” he replied in a possessive tone that stirred her heart, and increased her guilt. “You’re mine, and I take care of what’s mine.”

His possessive words melted her vulnerable heart. Not wanting him to see her face, and not trusting herself to speak, she turned over and obligingly stuck her ass in the air. She flinched when his large hands covered her buttocks and his fingers delved between them, gently probing. The plug slid out with a soft plopping noise and, perversely, Darcy already missed something she’d never imagined enjoying.

  “There we go,” he said.

He stood up, held out a hand and she took it. They went into his bathroom and Ross set the shower running. When he judged the temperature to be right, they stepped into the stall together and Ross insisted upon soaping her entire body. Darcy let him, anticipation surging through her because it was bound to finish up with him fucking her again. To her intense disappointment, he showed no signs of fulfilling that desire, even though he was rigidly erect again.

“Uh-huh,” he said, shaking a finger at her when he caught her gawping at his cock. “Twice in one night is enough to be going on with. You’re a beginner at this.”

“Not at sex, I’m not. Well, I’m not in your league, but still…”

“Ah, but what we did just now is about as close to vanilla sex as I come.” He was standing behind her, soapy hands massaging her tits, and he whispered the words into her ear, a softly persuasive purr. “If you knew how badly I want to spank that cute butt of yours again you’d probably freak out, and I have no intention of scaring you off. So, I’m going to rein in my raging desire, until tomorrow night, anyway.” He sucked her earlobe into his mouth. She moaned and pushed the butt in question against his groin, wondering if he could be persuaded to change his mind, even though she was supposed to be the passive obedient one. Passivity and obedience had never come naturally to Darcy, but it was quite fun, if frustrating, playing by his rules. “Now won’t that be something to look forward to.” He chuckled at her obvious discomfort. “Anticipation, babe. It’s the key to everything.”

“How could I forget?” she replied grumpily.

He laughed, and reached up to shut off the water. “Come on, sweetheart, let’s get you dry.”

He wrapped her in a large, fluffy towel and vigorously dried every inch of her. He was still erect, but it didn’t appear to bother him, nor did he show any inclination to ease up on his self-imposed abstinence. This was no time to get all noble on her! Still, perhaps it was just as well, all things considered.

Dressed again, Ross pulled her into his arms and kissed her long and deep, his tongue invading every corner of her mouth.

“You sure you need to leave?” he asked, when he finally came up for air.

“I’d much rather stay, but it’s better this way.” She rested her forehead against his shoulder. “This is all happening too fast.”

“Hey, you’re not having second thoughts.” He placed a finger beneath her chin and tilted it upward. His expression was wary. “Please say you’re not.”

“No, I’m not. I should have thought that much was obvious. I just need a bit of space to adjust.”

“But I will see you tomorrow night?”

“Of course. You’ll see me during the day as well. I’ll be up there, capturing the action, so to speak.”

“Okay, babe, I hear you, and I’ll stop pushing.” He led her back into their lounge, which was empty. She could hear muffled noise from the bar penetrating the walls. “Wait here, I’ll get your coat and we’ll leave by the side door.”

“I need to get my laptop.”

  “I’ll see to it.”

Darcy figured he didn’t want to be seen emerging from his private quarters with her, so didn’t push the issue. He was right to be cautious, as much for her sake as for his own, did he but know it. Fiona sprang to mind, and even though she was the one who’d said they should keep their relationship a secret from Ross’s assistant, she felt miffed because it was necessary. Shit, her hormones were all over the place, and stringing rational thoughts together was beyond her right then.

Muffled inside thick jackets, and wearing hats, they were unrecognizable from all the other ski-revelers thronging the streets. It was almost eleven at night, but Darcy knew the noise would continue until the early hours. She held gloved hands with Ross as they made their way toward the east side of town. He toted her laptop bag over his other shoulder.

“What made you stop working for that film company?” he asked as they walked along, dodging drunken skiers and piles of fresh snow pushed to the side of the road by the ever-efficient ploughs.

“My assignment ended.” She shot him a look. “Whatever made you ask?”

“Oh, no reason. Just curious.” He paused. “What happened to the producer you worked with?”

She shrugged. “I guess he moved on, too. Those companies don’t employ many full timers. Most are taken on one picture at a time.”

“Ah, I see. Is that what it was with you?”

“Yes.” She blinked up at him. “I already mentioned that, didn’t I?”

“Did you?” She caught a flash of his even white teeth in the near darkness. “Something must have distracted me.”

“You think I’d rather work for a film company than you? Is that what this is all about? Well, just so you know, the film business isn’t nearly as glamorous as they’d have you believe. It’s pretty cutthroat, as a matter of fact.” She tipped back her head and smiled up at him. “Besides, I’ve already discovered there are some pretty compelling fringe benefits attached to my job here.”

“Is that so?” Ross chuckled. “And we don’t even offer medical.”

“Just as well I never get sick then.”

“If you don’t move in with me real soon, we’re gonna have to find you somewhere better to live,” he said as they left main street and headed for the seedier side of town. “It’s not safe down here.”

“You want me to move in?” Now he’d really surprised her. “Isn’t it a bit soon for that? We barely know one another.”

“I’ve never asked anyone to share my space before.” He shrugged. “Never thought I would, either. I’m an exhibitionist at heart, but also a pretty private guy. But with you, babe, it’s a no-brainer. Something that feels this right couldn’t possibly be wrong.”

Oh, Ross! “I appreciate the offer, but let’s take it slow.”

“I still don’t like you living down here,” he grumbled.

“Stop fussing. Everywhere is safe in Nevella. There’s not supposed to be any crime.”

  “Yeah, but even so.”

Please stop being so caring. “This place is fine. Besides, I’m hardly ever here.”

“Okay, darlin’.” They stopped outside her block, and Darcy fumbled in her purse, looking for her keys. He took them from her hand when she found them and unlocked the outside door. They stood in the lobby, with its peeling paint and aroma of takeout food, and Ross again held her close. “This is as far as I trust myself to go.”

“Thanks for the door-to-door escort service.”

“My pleasure.” Ross scowled at a couple of guys who lurched through the door, leered at Darcy and then staggered up the stairs. “Sleep well, babe, and dream about me.”

The corners of her lips lifted. “Oh, I think I can safely promise you that much.”

As soon as he stopped kissing her, she pulled out of his arms, opened the door to her ground floor apartment, and waved over her shoulder at him. She shut the door behind her without looking back and leaned against it, letting out a long, a
gonized breath as she did so. Eyes closed, she remained where she was for what seemed like forever, wondering for the thousandth time how she’d gotten herself into such a mess. When she opened her eyes again, nothing had changed, no fairy godmother had waved a magic wand and made all her problems disappear. She was still in her dreary studio apartment. Chloe still wasn’t with her.

  Chloe!

Her heart clenched when she allowed herself to think of her daughter. How could she have forgotten about her, even with Ross’s skilled hands and persuasive lips to distract her? What sort of mother did that make her? She threw off her coat, sat down, and sobbed her heart out. She was such a fool. When would she learn that people never changed, no matter how much she wanted them to, and quit giving them the benefit of the doubt?

Her phone pinged, indicating an incoming text message, which made her head jerk up. It might be to do with Chloe. Darcy grabbed her phone, and smiled. It wasn’t about Chloe, but was almost as good. It was from Ross.

Hey, babe, can you do a complete backbend?

Darcy laughed through her tears. Did he never think of anything but sex?

Sure, she replied. What do you have in mind? As though I can’t guess. X

Fuck, I never should have asked. How am I supposed to sleep with such a raging hard-on?

  Try counting sheep.

  I’d rather count your orgasms.

Behave yourself. I have to work in the morning, and my boss is a hard taskmaster. He wouldn’t like it if he knew I’d been forced to masturbate because some sex fiend kept texting me his naughty plans, turning me on.

No masturbating unless I get to watch you. I will know if you have, and there will be consequences.

  How will you know?

I just will. Now get some sleep, or that boss of yours will get mad at you. Night, babe. X
