For Cindy, Cait, Josh, and Rachel at CAA; and Tim at Brillstein—your encouragement and support mean more to me than you know. Thank you for telling me to keep writing early on after I, without explanation, sent you a random essay last year. Thank you for sharing your own stories. And thank you for persuading me to do something kind of insane by writing this book!
Thanks to Lauren Roseman, Lauren Manasevit, Kate Childs, and the wonderful S&S marketing/publicity duo of Maggie Southard and Elizabeth Breeden for knowing not only what this book is, but how to get it out to the right places. Thanks for taking this on and helping me share my cousin.
For Lorne—well for starters, thank you for changing my life ten years ago. And for all the times you’ve changed my life since then. And thank you for reminding me that it’s okay to show your heart AND do comedy. Who knew?
For Rashida, my little sis—thank you for trusting me. Thank you for inspiring me and teaching me but most importantly making me laugh so damn much. Thank you for bringing Queen Sabrina into my life! I love you, sis.
For Jack—thank you for driving me crazy in all the good and bad ways. Thank you for letting me share so much of our story. And thank you for all the things I get to keep to myself. You were, and every day continue to be, such a wonderful surprise to me.
For Kevin, Joel, Matt, Graham, Crystal, Erin, Tommy, Shawn, Markus, Bianca, Sam, Cayenne, Laura, Susannah, and Caitlin—thank you for being my chosen family. I love you all so much.
For Mama, Dad, Nat, Colleen, Sammi, Steve, Sarah, Josh, and Jack—thank you for being my bio and “non-bio” family. I love you all and can’t wait to finally see you all again! And Mama—thank you for being the person I knew would read the book as soon as I sent it. This book is for your B and H, too.
For Ed, Laurel, and Leda—thank you for taking such great care of me, kind of immediately and no questions asked, in New York. You’re all really good at this “family” thing.
And for Owen, Liz, Erica, Hal, Monét—thank you for all the ways you made life so much more beautiful, funny, colorful, magical, musical, and wonderful for all the people who share the giant gift and devastation of missing you very much. Aren’t we all lucky to have gotten to share our own time on this earth with you.
