In the meantime her life was a patchwork of lies she would need to unpick. She thought of Connor Hills, travelling with them in the hold. Had he found happiness in Ireland? Had he come to terms, discovered some peace, before his past - whatever it was - had come back to haunt him? She knew it was fanciful, but she couldn’t help hoping that Connor Hills and Sean O’Donnell might be one and the same person. If that was the case, perhaps a part of Sean had never let go. Perhaps he had come back to find her. It was a romantic notion - even an implausible one - but it would be a fitting end if she was the one who was finally taking him home.
