"Vel, look at this," she demanded, as I leaned on the railing.

She grabbed the remote for the main monitor and turned it on. A video of the UN's special convention played on the screen, and I wondered why she had called me here for something so boring.

"Ugh," I said, fearful that, in her madness, someone had said something three hours in that buzzed her whistle, and that she would make me watch the entire thing for one part, which would probably be insignificant to those of us who retained our sanity.

"Don't give me that look Vel, just watch," she demanded, watching me to be sure I was looking at the screen.

I looked at the screen, and I read the text as it rolled across the bottom, out loud to avenge myself and hopefully avoid a three-hour meeting of the UN General Assembly.

"Today, the UN special council, consisting of the leaders of the eleven most powerful nations in the world: The United States of America, Russia, China, India, The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, and Israel, are meeting with the President of the United Nations to discuss the issue of magical terrorism," I said, sarcastically, reading the text.

The announcer on the broadcast came online and began to speak, so I stopped reading aloud.

"Introducing the newly elected President of the United Nation's General Assembly, Mrs. Gina Moore of the United States of America!"

The camera panned in on the President, and Leaha paused the video.

"Vel, isn't that," Leaha’s shock was evident in her voice and every fiber of my being froze at once as I stared at the monitor, but I eventually found the courage to speak.

  "My mother."
