The Case of the Captain's Hair (The Wolflock Cases Book 1)

"How on earth did you know where she was!? And how did you get the Captain out?" Mothy asked a little exasperatedly, but still smiling.
Wolflock took a breath of clean fresh air and began.
"The Captain mysteriously began hiding away after the last group of people came on board, so one of them had to have a relation to the problem as it would have been highly unlikely that the two events would be unrelated. Then, when I went looking for a washcloth I found a passage into the Captain's chambers by accident and found out that..." he stopped and looked around for anyone listening, then beckoned for Mothy to lean closer, "...he's bald."
Mothy looked astonished, "Wow... Yes... I can certainly understand that part of it now. But he had..."
Wolflock shushed him quickly and continued in a low voice, "He has a snuffle. It went missing he said and his pride was mortally wounded. I offered to get it back for him believing it to still be on the ship. Snuffles are loyal normally and won't ever stray far from their feeders. That's why I asked you about the other passengers. I also remembered seeing Tinni talking into a bag when I first boarded, which, when her mother said she was missing on the ship also, lead me to think that she was the one hiding the snuffle. The only place people go as rarely as they can is in the hull and it would be the only place she could really hide, so logic would place her there. And now that all is right we have a happy Captain, more privelages and a bit of sun!" he finished his conclusions brightly and leaned on the railings.
"Marvellous! Positively marvellous! What a fabulous brain you have, Wolflock!" Mothy exclaimed and leant beside him.
"It's only logic, Mothy. Simple, yet beautiful logic."
