She nodded.
We went to collect our coats and put them on in the entryway before stepping outside into the frosty night air. The wind licked at the sheen of sweat from my face, trying hard to turn it into ice. I put my arm around Abigail’s shivering shoulder as we hurried around the building to where my big blue truck was parked.
Chapter 26
Abigail
Monday
The atmosphere inside of the truck was heavy on the drive back to my house. I knew what it was from my side, at least. All of that dancing, our bodies vibrating in tune with the music as the sweat poured down our bodies. It had been intoxicating to the senses, leaving my body aching for release that could only come one way. It was a school night and getting late besides, but I planned to invite Drew in for a nightcap.
“What did you think about the club?” he asked.
I’d been shamelessly staring at him in profile for this entire drive, and I had no intention of stopping now, even as he looked over at me briefly, a sexy smile twisting his full, kissable lips.
“It was great,” I replied. “I had no idea you could dance like that.”
His smile widened, but he kept his eyes on the road. The streets weren’t busy, but they were icy in patches.
“It’s been a while, but clearly you never forget certain skills after you learn them,” he replied.
I giggled, covering my mouth. The way a man moved on the dancefloor said something about what you could expect in the bedroom. We’d done things a little backwards — getting together in the bedroom before we’d ever gone out dancing — but that didn’t make it any less true.
He had natural rhythm, grace, and intensity that carried him through in both arenas, so well that I couldn’t wait to get him inside my house where I could safely strip off his clothing in private and enjoy every inch of him. I’d been wanting to put my hands and lips on him all night. We’d kissed, but not the way I wanted. I wanted to feel the muscly bulk of his body on top of me while my tongue ventured into his mouth. The hungry place between my legs was getting wet just thinking about it. I couldn’t believe how much I wanted him, and, despite the late hour, I didn’t plan to deny myself anything. I was going to go after exactly what I wanted tonight.
We pulled into my driveway, and Drew turned in his seat to smile at me. I spoke up quickly before he had the chance to tell me goodnight or give an excuse about how he needed to get going. I’d seen his eyes on the dance floor and felt how his hands had caressed the gentle curves of my body. He wanted me as badly as I wanted him.
“Do you want to come in for one more drink?” I didn’t even have anything to offer him to drink besides water, diet soda, or coffee (after I brewed it first), but if he agreed to come inside, drinks were the last thing I planned to offer him.
His smile seemed relieved. “That sounds nice. I can come in for a moment.”
We got out of the truck and hurried to the front porch. It felt like the temperature had dropped another ten degrees from the time we left the club until now, but that didn’t cool the heat I felt rising inside of me, at all. That fire would burn until I put my hands on Drew.
We went into the warm darkness of the foyer. I closed the door, sealing out the winter weather, and turned over the deadbolt, locking us in as much as I was locking the rest of the world out. I didn’t like coming home to pitch black darkness, and so had left the light on in the kitchen, which filled the foyer with bluish light. I turned from the newly-locked door, meaning to offer some string of words that would pull him even deeper into my house. Drew was right behind me, though, his eyes unreadable in the shadows that had fallen over his face. He was standing over me, the musky smell of his sweat entering my nostrils all at once, as though he’d held it back until this exact moment, when it could have the most impact.
Smelling him and having him this close undid me. I swooned, my legs weakening at the knees. I stumbled forward one inelegant step, and his arms wrapped around me, drawing me even closer as he lowered his lips to mine. My body sang when our mouths opened to allow each other’s tongues to enter. My head swam with the sweetness of his taste. I held him as tightly as I could, wanting him closer, though we were already pressed together. He kissed me like he needed this contact to continue living.
The heat between us rose from a spark to an inferno in an instant. My entire body was tingling at his touch and his kiss. I unzipped his jacket and stripped it from his arms and shoulders. He let it fall to the floor, not taking a moment’s break from kissing me even more passionately than before. Something had unlocked between us on the dancefloor, giving us access to even more of each other. I wanted to revel in that closeness, exploring it slowly with the tip of my tongue and my eager fingers.
Drew pulled back, drawing a moan from me. He unzipped my jacket and pushed it off onto the floor to join his. I took the opportunity to pull his sweater over his head, leaving him in a plain white t-shirt. Before I could order him into my bedroom, he kissed me again.
I melted into his mouth as my hands ventured under his t-shirt to explore the bare skin of his chest and back. Despite the dark brown hair on his head, the hair on his chest and stomach was golden and delicate to the touch. I ran my hands over that softness, relishing every curve of his muscles. His hands were doing the same to me, pushing up my sweater so he could feel my trembling flesh. I wanted him so badly it ached. My shivering legs were having trouble keeping me upright. I wanted him on top of me, inside of me, anything that tangled our naked limbs and brought me to shivering climax.
“Let’s go to the bedroom,” I mumbled between kisses, the words going directly from my mouth to his.
He reached down and pulled me up into his arms with two hands on my ass. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kept kissing him as he carried me deeper into the house on the way to my room, leaving our coats in a puddle on the floor in the foyer.
Drew set me down on the area rug in front of my bed and pulled his t-shirt off. I licked my lips at how gorgeous he was, how muscled and broad shouldered. I tugged my own sweater over my head, exposing my lacy bra and heaving breasts. I reached behind me and unhooked the bra, discarding it onto the ground. I wanted him to have full access to the wonders of my body.
I stepped out of my jeans next. He watched closely, the expression on his face nearly unreadable in the lack of light. The blinds on my windows were closed, but the streetlight on the corner shed enough light through them for me to see the rock hard length of his cock bouncing free as soon as he stepped out of his own jeans and boxer briefs. I moaned again, this time with need.
“I want you,” I murmured.
“I’ve wanted you all night long,” he replied in a husky whisper that seemed to vibrate in the air.
We stepped into each other’s arms, but he turned me around before I had a chance to get my lips on him.
“Let’s try it this way.” He bent me over the footboard of my bed. I barely had time to brace myself before his fingers were between my legs, moving my panties aside so he could taste the warm wetness of my sex. I breathed in sharply and arched my back. His fingers entered me, two at first, and then three. I groaned and widened my stance, wanting him as deep as he could get.
“Do you like that?” he asked, his hot breath on my naked back.
“Yes,” I moaned, breathless from the rhythmic movements of his fingers. He removed them all at once, and my trembling legs nearly delivered me to the floor.
He pulled my panties off slowly, his lips kissing the smooth skin of my ass. I felt his hot breath tickling my sex now and arched my back again, revealing it to him, all but begging him to taste me there with his eager mouth. His tongue moved over my clit, drawing another agonized moan from me. He parted my lips, tasting the sweetness inside, his tongue flicking deeper into me before withdrawing.
He stood to his full height and pressed his long, hard cock into me, parting the same lips he’d just caressed with his tongue. He took me by the hips and entered me all at once. I cried out at the power o
f his thrust and opened to him like a needy flower. He was so deep, the head of his cock impaling me. My insides trembled with pleasure, my entire body aching for whatever he would give me.
Sweat broke out at my hairline as I lifted my buttocks to take him even deeper than he was already going. I wanted all of him. I wanted to devour him with the sweet heat of my need. I never wanted to let him go now that I had him.
He pressed into me, burying himself up to the hilt, and I screamed his name, my insides undoing all at once, that luscious pressure releasing in a gushing wet orgasm that sent a spasm through my entire body, from head to trembling toes. He kept going, grunting behind closed teeth as his hips slapped into my ass, creating an ecstasy of tingling feeling. My body convulsed, and I could feel another orgasm building on the heels of the one that had just flooded every cell of my body.
“I’m coming,” he groaned and pushed harder inside of me, his strokes threatening to obliterate me. But I didn’t want him to stop. I wanted this luscious agony to go on for the rest of my life. He grunted, his body going rigid against mine as my second orgasm unraveled, shuddering through every inch of my sweat-soaked body. For a few brief seconds, we were a single heartbeat, a single head empty of all thought besides the overwhelming ecstasy of this moment. And then our muscles relaxed from their pleasurable spasms, and we became two separate people again.
I felt weak when Drew dislodged his body from mine. It was all I could do to stumble around the bottom of the bed to get to the mattress. I collapsed on top of my blanket, just needing a few seconds to rest my overwhelmed muscles. He stood over me, a small, regretful smile on his face.
“I have to go,” he whispered, finally. “It’s late.”
I closed my eyes at that. I’d known, of course — he had Sophia at home and a babysitter to relieve — but that didn’t stop me from wanting to keep him here with me. I wanted us to snuggle into each other’s heat and fall asleep. I wanted to wake in the morning and kiss his stubbly cheek.
“I’ll miss you,” I replied, drowsy with the lingering pleasure of our lovemaking.
He leaned to kiss me lightly on the mouth and then began to get dressed again, each article of clothing taking him further away from me.
Chapter 27
Drew
Tuesday
I was dragging serious ass after the late night out with Abigail, but it was worth it. I went right to sleep after getting home and dreamed about her all night, seeing her sweet, sexy body underneath me and feeling the welcoming warmth between her legs as it swallowed my cock. I woke rock hard, bleary eyed, and alone when the alarm went off. If she’d been next to me, I might have been able to do something about how much I wanted her. Instead, I got up to take a cool shower and reluctantly start my day.
I had an extra cup of coffee at home that morning while Sophia ate her scrambled eggs and toast. She kept eyeing me closely, but she was wrapped up in her own thoughts about the movie she and Brian had watched the night before about a princess who turned into a frog and back into a princess again. At least she seemed well rested. I felt like I’d been up all night, exploring Abigail’s warm depths with the full length of my cock. I couldn’t get over how great she felt last night. I wanted her that way again—bent over in front of me, her legs wide open, soaking wet and begging for me to plunge even deeper inside of her.
I shook my head. I had to drag my mind out of the gutter if I hoped to get anything done today.
I dropped Sophia off at school, waving at Abigail, who was waiting outside with a sexy smile on her face that got me thinking about how good she’d tasted when I dropped between her legs. The hair down there was just as soft and red as the hair on her head. I told myself that I’d spend more time down there next time, exploring every moist inch of her, but I’d been so eager to get inside of her. My need had been burning all damned night and demanded immediate quenching.
I drove to work, taking a back road to avoid some of the morning traffic. I was running a little behind schedule and was surprised to see that no one else was here yet. Brian was supposed to have opened the office this morning since Karen wouldn’t be in again until tomorrow. Maybe he’d had a late night, too, after leaving my house the night before. He’d been asleep on the couch when I got hom, and I’d almost let him stay there because he looked so peaceful.
I unlocked the building and went inside, turning on lights as I walked past Karen’s empty desk and back to where Brian and I spent hours together every day. I started a pot of coffee before doing anything else, even waking up my computer. My head felt groggy, not just from lack of sleep but from the constant repetitions of the sweet memories of my latest bedroom encounter with Abigail. In the bluish dark, I’d traced the tattoo on her petal white skin with my fingertips. That had turned me on, too — that she seemed like the girl next door, but was wild enough to get such a large tattoo. It was like a secret she’d whispered to me in the dark.
The door to the office opened, shuttling me out of my steamy thoughts. I’d made the coffee and was at my desk, pretending to review emails while I let memories of last night overcome my senses. I looked up as Brian strode through the door.
“I know,” he said, going straight for the coffee. “I’m late.” He made a disappointed noise at seeing it still brewing, meaning he’d need to wait a minute before getting his fix. He loitered next to it, leaning onto the table instead of going to his desk to start his work day. I didn’t give him a hard time over it. Besides starting the coffee, I hadn’t done much of anything since arriving at the office.
“What happened to you this morning?” I asked. “More car trouble?”
He shook his head, giving me an aggrieved expression. “No. I missed my damned alarm. I was letting Sophia play with my phone last night, and she must’ve turned it off.”
That certainly sounded like her, which was why I never let her play with my phone. I had too many important things on there to risk letting her mess with it. I’d gotten her a kiddie tablet for Christmas that came preloaded with games and digital books. She loved that damned thing, and so did I, mostly because it kept her occupied to the point that she didn’t want my phone, at all. It also let her feel like she was hot shit when I pulled out my tablet, as well.
“She has her tablet,” I replied. “Remind her of that the next time she asks to play with your phone. I got her that thing specifically to stop her from trying to mess with mine. It has all kinds of games on it.”
Brian opened his mouth to respond and then jumped for the coffee machine. It had just finished brewing, though it was still grumbling. He poured himself a tall mug and took a deep whiff of it, his light eyes rolling back in his head.
“Jesus, Brian, have you never smelled coffee before?” I asked, a sleepy grin on my face. I needed another several shots of caffeine in order to wake all the way up, but laughing at him certainly helped. I got up and poured myself a mug of coffee while he stood there guzzling his first one.
“It doesn’t feel like I slept much at all last night.” He looked at me, his eyes narrowing slightly. I knew that look and what it meant. “Speaking of last night, how did the date go with the hot school teacher?”
I took a long sip of my coffee, letting it sit still in my mouth for a few seconds before swallowing to buy myself some extra time. I could feel my synapses firing and the tight muscles in my back and shoulders loosening as this latest injection of caffeine did its work. “It was great,” I said, but didn’t expand on the statement.
“You sure were out late enough.” He lifted his dark blond eyebrows and looked like a little kid in search of a great bedtime story. “Does that mean what I think it means?”
I shrugged, but refused to go down that avenue with Brian. He had to know I had no intention of sharing the intimate details of my relationship with Abigail. That was a private flame I meant to keep burning between the two of us and no one else, not even my best friend.
“I really enjoy spending time with this woman,” I said, moving the c
onversation in the direction I wanted it to go instead of in the direction Brian was trying to push it. “I haven’t felt that way about anyone since Chelsea and I started dating. Being with her just feels right.”
His expression loosened, the impish glimmer fading from his eyes. He was still staring at me with interest, but I could see he wasn’t going to keep pursuing information about sexual encounters. As annoying as he could be, he was also one of the best men I knew. He’d helped Sophia and me weather the storm of losing Chelsea without waiting to be asked, and he was still doing it.
“That’s a good thing, Drew. You’re supposed to be enjoying your life. It’s what Chelsea would’ve wanted.”
“It’s just scary, you know? I gave Chelsea everything I had, and it nearly destroyed me to lose her. I don’t want to open myself to that kind of thing happening again.”
Brian set down his coffee mug. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he watched me. “I’ve never been in a relationship as serious as the one you had with Chelsea, but I have dated women that I fell in love with. It always hurt when things ended. I know how hard it was for you and Sophia to lose Chelsea. But meeting Abigail and letting her into your lives has really changed you for the better. I’ve seen it. You’re happier and more open. Even Sophia is happier. We talked about Abigail last night, actually.”
I furrowed my brow, my hands tensing on my coffee mug. I still didn’t know how to navigate dating on the one hand and parenting on the other. The two worlds were going to collide. In a way, they already had, but I still didn’t feel like I knew what the hell I was doing.
“What did Soph say?”
Brian shrugged, but his smile grew. “She’s over the moon that you and Abigail are friends. She wouldn’t stop talking about how much fun the Valentine’s Day lunch is going to be. She knows that Abigail isn’t her mom, but she’s excited to have a woman in her life who cares about her.”
