Worry filled Charlotte’s eyes. “But loving me does not preclude the fact Lily will remain in my life until she becomes of age.”
“It should not be any other way, and I would never insist otherwise if you were to become my wife.” He grinned. “In fact, I would love her as you do.”
“Wife?” The brow over Charlotte’s right eye rose. “Don’t tell me, Lord Beckett, that this is your poor effort to ask for my hand in marriage?”
“Marriage?” He finally found the woman of his dreams in the form of a redheaded, Irish-blooded, feisty lady with a mind of her own and a heart as big as the moon. A second later he dropped to one knee, took her right hand in his, and gazed up into her glowing countenance.
“Will you marry me, my darling Charlotte?”
“I dare say I shall marry you, Lord Beckett,” she responded with no hesitation in her voice.
He rose, pulled her to his frame, and embraced the warmth of her curvaceous body next to his flesh. As he kissed her sweet lips, he knew he had won the most incredible woman in the world.
