Stuck With You

As he’d expected when he’d planned this, she looked relieved. “Saddle bronc riding does sound better. At least there’s that saddle for you to hold on to, and a horse sounds like a far easier animal to manage than one of those bulls.”
“It does, doesn’t it?”
“Uh, what did you mean, for the time being?”
“Until we have a baby. Then I’ll quit for good.”
“A baby?” Her eyes filled with such warmth that he cursed himself for not taking her off to some secluded corner for this discussion.
“That’ll be your compromise, having the baby, since you didn’t seem too excited about having children.”
She reached a hand to his cheek. “I didn’t really mean that. I want to have your baby,” she murmured.
Desire surged through him. He took both her hands and stood, pulling her to her feet. “Let’s get out of here. They can mail me my buckle.” He pulled her down the steps. “We’ll get my stuff, and I’ll introduce you to my buddies. They can pick up my prize money.”
“I don’t think you should just leave like this, Wyatt.”
“Don’t think just because I love you that you can tell me what to do, Charity.”
Fortunately she laughed. “Okay. It’s your rodeo.”
He paused. “So, do we have a deal? I’ll switch to saddle bronc riding and you’ll get pregnant?”
Her mouth curved in that saucy smile that drove him wild. “I’ll do my part if you’ll do yours.”
“Oh, I’ll do my part.” He pulled her into his arms for a quick kiss. “Often and well,” he murmured as the glow of sensuality filled her eyes.
He’d have to get her through the introductions to his friends in a hurry, he thought. Not only was he eager to get back to the hotel, he didn’t want her talking to the guys and asking questions. Knowing Charity’s quick mind, it wouldn’t take long before she discovered that he’d tricked her just a little. He wanted her to be completely bound to him before she learned what every rodeo cowboy worth his spurs knew—saddle bronc riding was the most dangerous event of all.
