“I don’t understand.”
“Ahh, that’s right. He revealed to me, while quite drunk at the time, that it was Julie’s idea to attack the dragons on the full moon.”
“Why would Connor take her advice on the matter?”
“Because, Elliot, a true mate, from what I understand, is the other half of you. He trusted her and her opinion. Perhaps, it made sense to him. On the full moon, we are at are strongest, however, that is only physically. Had we attacked on any other day, we might have had a chance. Had the majority of our pack not been weakened by their animal forms and could have used a sword or fire a silver bullet from a gun, our chances would have been different. This cannot be denied. Royce knows this, and he had been holding his resentment for nearly fifty years,” I said.
“If he does take the challenge, Julie will be no match for him,” Elliot said.
“Not only that, but neither will I,” I said.
Elliot smiled and rose from his chair, then walked over to my bar and poured himself some more whiskey, then returned to his chair, crossing one of his tremendously long legs over the other. “Your eye is on the position?”
I sighed. “I have always wanted to rise to greater heights. For so long, I have wanted growth in the ranks, yet Julie has passed me over for lesser wolves. I have watched wolves younger than I am, with fewer accomplishments than me, rise to Beta Capo. I would have challenged Julie if I didn’t think Royce and other wolves as powerful as I am wouldn’t follow my rule. Julie gets respect, because she was our Alpha’s mate. She has a great deal of his essence and some of his strength,” I said.
Elliot downed his drink and nodded. “She has done that almost as a punishment to you. I don’t know what you’ve done to cross her, but she doesn’t think highly of you.”
It was true, from the moment I’d embarrassed her for daring to defend her honor at the meeting of the Alphas all those decades ago to me wanting to marry Sanese, I had fallen out of favor. I was sure that Graham, the last remaining wolf who had murdered my parents, played a part in her resent of me. Much like with Elias, Graham was of that fold along with Bernard and Angus, who had turned Elias against me. The day would come when I would get my revenge… I had patience; I could wait.
“I would follow you as Alpha,” Elliot said.
“I know,” I said with a smile.
“Do you think Royce would challenge Julie for the position?” Elliot asked.
I sighed and shook my head. “He may resent her, but he respects his father too much to challenge her, let alone to kill his father’s mate.”
“Even if he did, would you fall in line under him as Alpha?”
“If he did, I would have no choice.”
“But that isn’t want you want.”
“Royce is my oldest friend.”
“Yes, but he is also the one thing that is truly standing in your way.” Elliot got up to pour himself a glass of whiskey this time.
“For fuck’s sake, just take the bottle,” I stated, seeing as he’d already made four trips to the bar for the whiskey. Might as well take the rest.
Elliot chuckled and did just that, returning to his chair and taking a swig straight from the bottle. “Could you betray a friend?”
“What kind of man would that make me?” I asked.
“One who would never let anyone or anything stand in the way of your quest for greatness.” That came from my wife, Charlene, who had entered the room.
“My love,” I said as she approached me. “What are your thoughts?”
She climbed onto my lap and I could tell that she wasn’t wearing any underwear. Not only could I smell her lust, but it was in her eyes as she looked down at me. “I am but a loving wife who would see her husband rise to the position of power he is worthy of.”
“What about Julie?” I asked as I cupped both of her asscheeks. It didn’t matter that she was wearing a dress, I could still fill those firm mounds beneath the wool fabric.
She shrugged. “Alphas are challenged all of the time. If she were to be killed by Royce, and then Royce killed by you, that is the way it was meant to be.”
“Ahhh, but I am not strong enough to challenge and defeat Royce,” I said. “And even if I did, the pack respects him too much for me to gain their obedience. I cannot have that dark cloud over my head if I am to rule.”
“Then… we make it so Royce doesn’t defeat Julie,” Elliot said.
Both Charlene and I turned to him. “What do you mean?” I asked him.
“Julie can’t defeat him, right? She’s not stronger than Connor was. She won’t be able to defeat you,” Elliot said.
I nodded. “She has Connor’s essence, which connects us all. That’s why the pack is still at the strength level we were when he was alive. But no, I’m older and more powerful than Julie. I still don’t see where you’re going with this, Elliot.”
Elliot took another swig and Charlene scoffed. “Because he’s drunk and talking out of his ass.”
“I assure you, my lady, I can handle my drink. Just listen,” Elliot said, then leaned forward, bottle still in hand. “We have to turn the pack against Julie, so when you do kill her, you will have the respect of the pack, even those as powerful as you.”
“How?” I asked.
“By making it seem that Julie killed Royce because she was afraid that he would defeat her and take over the pack,” Elliot said.
“Ahh, I see. Yes, that would work. And I would step in, challenging Julie to defend Royce’s honor,” I said.
Elliot nodded. “All we need is for Royce to issue a challenge.”
“Why not go with the rumors that he was interested like what is circulating now?” I asked.
Elliot shook his head. “Rumors are just that. We need for him to threaten Julie with the possibility. For the challenge to be made.”
“He will kill her,” Charlene said.
I nodded. “Challenges usually take place right then and there once it is issued.”
“Well, that’s where some finesse will have to be made. We three must coax them in that direction. Charlene, you should whisper in Julie’s ear that you heard the rumors. And Deacon, you should plant a seed in Royce’s mind that he will make a better Alpha,” Elliot said.
“Well, the mechanisms of this plan are just… truly Machiavellian. Honestly, I have forgotten that you were capable of such schemes,” I said with a wicked smile, because I liked what Elliot had come up with, to a point. It still involved me betraying Royce, something I wasn’t sure I could do.
He sat back and shrugged. “You want to become Alpha, you have to take out two pieces on the board to do so. A king and queen, my dark knight, they must go.”
The thought of Royce dying didn’t set well with me. As much as I wanted to be the Alpha, could I kill a friend? I’d known Royce damn near my entire life; he’d brought me through some tough times. I didn’t know if I was ready to act on my urges, especially since it seemed as though Royce would not challenge Julie anyway.
I sighed. “Let us revisit this plan at a later time. I’m not yet ready to make such drastic decisions. Julie, I could not care less if she dies, but Royce… that is another matter altogether.”
“When and if he does look to want to challenge her, I would have you make the hard decision, Deacon,” Charlene said.
I frowned, because such words coming from her was somewhat out of character. “Royce and his wife are your friends as well. Are you so eager to see Agnes without her man?”
“I would see my children be elevated above all others as the offspring of the Alpha,” Charlene said, then she placed her hand over her stomach.
My eyes widened as I followed her movements and the meaning dawned on me. “Are you with child?” I asked, looking up at her, my mouth agape.
She smiled widely and nodded. “Quite so, my love.”
“A seed was planted already, I see,” Elliot said, then raised his drink to us. “Congratulations.”
I barked out laughter
and leaped from the sofa, carrying Charlene in my arms as I twirled around with her. We kissed in celebration until the spinning got to be too much for her.
“Please, stop and put me down,” she said, chuckling.
I did just that, placing her ever so gently on her feet. “Such a sensitive constitution,”
She tossed me a look, but rolled her eyes. “You are fortunate enough to not have to bear a pregnancy.”
I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face if I had tried. I was going to be a father, this was the greatest day of my life, topping even the day when I’d become a full wolf. “Oh, my darling, you have given me the greatest gift.” I kissed her again.
“For you, Deacon, I would see you get everything you want, because I know that when you rise, we rise. Our children will be princes and princesses within the pack. For that, no sacrifice is too great. You cannot allow Royce to rise to the position of Alpha, or you will never have the opportunity,” Charlene said.
I nodded then, because now, I fully understood that if I was to achieve my dreams and make sure my family was elevated to a station they deserved, then I could not let my love for Royce, or our friendship, get in my way. “I promise,” I said.
Charlene nodded once, then walked away. I turned to Elliot to see him finishing off the bottle of Whiskey. “Can you believe it?” I asked him.
He was good and drunk now and the look on his face was very mellow. “Took long enough, I know.”
“Go home, you’re drunk,” I said. Having been reminded about how long it took me to impregnate my wife put a damper on my elation.
“What… what I say?” Elliot asked, holding his arms out to his sides, confused.
“We’ll talk later. Go… I want to be with my wives.” I decided to just send him off. He nodded, then rose. With a few staggers, he did make it to the door, then onto his horse. I was sure he’d make it home just fine, considering he lived close enough. For now, I only wanted to hear the moans of my wives as I pleasured them both, albeit separately. Life was definitely looking brighter.
~*~
Seven months passed by as I watched Charlene’s belly grow with the life of our child. I was standing outside the bedroom while Julie and Sanese were inside with her. Both women were there for support as Agnes, a midwife, was coaching Charlene through childbirth. Elliot and Royce were waiting with me as we listened to the screams and words of comfort coming from the other side of the door.
“Women’s work in any species, that’s for certain,” Royce said.
“What man would want to see it anyway?” Elliot asked, then shivered in disgust. “The beautiful folds of a woman’s sweet pussy ripped open by the large head of a bloodied babe pushing its way into this world. It’s a travesty, Sir.”
“Well, thank you for the visuals I didn’t ask for,” I said, then took a puff of my pipe.
Elliot laughed and rose from his chair. “Want me to take your mind off of it, Sir?” he asked once he was standing before me.
I looked up at him and cocked an eyebrow as he ran his tongue over his bottom lip. I spread my legs and nodded. “That would help.”
Elliot grinned and lowered himself between my legs and undid the buttons on my pants. He reached in past my drawers to pull out my semi-erect cock. I stroked his hair back, brushing some strands behind his ears so I could get a good look at his lips as he took my cock between them. I closed my eyes and moaned in pleasure as I was enveloped in the silky, wet heat of Elliot’s mouth. I allowed the screams of my wife giving birth to fade away while Elliot took me to heaven with a skill that he simply improved on over time.
Every once in a while, I’d look down to see his head bobbing, a trail of spit slicking my shaft as he sucked, licked, and kissed my cock. If there was one part on my body I loved to be worshipped, he was worshipping it. “Ahhhh fuck,” I purred and let my head fall back on the cushion of the chair.
Royce laughed. “Looks like you’re really enjoying that.”
I cracked open one eye and nodded. “Immensely.” I closed my eye and spread my legs even farther apart. The room was filled with the sound of Elliot’s lips smacking, his tongue slurping, and my moans of ecstasy. “I’m… I’m close…” I warned him, though I knew Elliot would suck me until I came undone. He was a man that didn’t believe in wasting a man’s seed. True to form, he started sucking me harder and faster, working my cum up from my balls. My muscles tensed, my thighs quivered, and I cried out as I filled his mouth with everything I had to give. I quaked in the chair that creaked under my weight and movements. It wasn’t until the last drop had been syphoned from my cock that I collapsed in the chair, leaning sideways.
Elliot slowly sucked my cock until he reached the tip, then popped my sensitive head with his lips, kissing my slit. “There, all better, Sir.” He laughed when he saw what pathetic state I was in and began to tuck my cock back into my pants. He buttoned them up, then rose. His own cock was rock hard, but I wasn’t in the mood to reciprocate and he knew it. We really didn’t have that type of relationship either. He reached down, grabbed his aching cock, and gave it a nice squeeze. “If you don’t mind, can I go take care of this, Sir?”
I cocked an eyebrow. “And miss the birth of my child?”
He looked back toward the closed door and pouted. “Ah fuck… yeah… sorry about that. I guess not. I do want to see your baby, Sir.”
Elliot looked at Royce and the Beta Capo barked out a laugh and shook his head. “I don’t even know why you cast your lusty gaze to me, my young wolf. I only enjoy the females.”
Elliot gave him a half smile and shrugged a shoulder. “Just thought I’d ask, Sir.” He groaned a little, then returned to the sofa where he’d been sitting. “This fucker is aching. I’ve got to take care of it.”
“So, take care of it. I don’t mind watching,” I said.
Elliot didn’t hesitate after being given the permission. He reached into his pants and pulled out his very large cock. He’d split many a wolf in two with that thing from what I’d been hearing. Males and females got to be at his mercy or in most cases, lack thereof. Elliot was a powerhouse when it came to fucking, and by the way his hand was pounding his cock, up and down as he grimaced in pleasure, I knew he would shoot soon. But once he’d seen my child, he’d seek the real thing. A nice, tight ass or pussy to fuck into oblivion.
With one long groan, Elliot arched on the sofa, white ropes of cum, thick and sticky, spurted from his cock and landed on his hand, the floor, and his thighs. Some dribbled down the length of his shaft to his hairy balls. He trembled as the sensation of blowing one hell of a load worked its way through him and he smiled afterward, his hand resting on his lap.
I rose and entered Sanese’s bedroom. First, I cleaned my own cock off, then took the wash cloth, wetting it in the basin, and returned to Elliot. “Here, clean yourself up. I won’t have you touching my child with those messy hands.”
Elliot took the cloth and cleaned himself up very good and just in time. I could hear the sound of a baby wailing with the last scream of my wife. I rushed to the door, opening it, because I could wait no longer to see my child. Agnes was holding the baby, cleaning all the blood and whatever else off of its skin.
“Darling, are you all right?” I asked Charlene. She looked so worn out. Her hair was plastered to her face and forehead with sweat. Her legs were still open and blood was soaking the bedsheets.
“I’m fine,” she said, but I could tell she was still in some measure of pain. No doubt, giving birth was unlike any other event a werewolf could endure and it had taken its toll on Charlene. From the moment she went into labor until the moment the baby was born had been a total of six hours. I couldn’t imagine being in a constant state of pain for six hours. As I looked at Charlene, I couldn’t fathom not being married to such a remarkable woman and wolf.
“May I enter?” I asked.
“Please let us prepare her first, okay?” Sanese said.
I didn’t argue. I shut the door and paced the floor
until I was given permission to enter. I rushed over to Charlene, kissing her lips and her forehead first, then I looked down at the bundle of life that was nestled so sweetly in her arms. “Oh, my God… oh my,” was all I could say. For so long, so many centuries, I had wanted this moment and it was finally here.
“He’s beautiful, isn’t he?” Charlene asked as she gazed lovingly at me and then our… our son.
“We have a son?” I asked, and as much as I didn’t care to show any sign of weakness, I couldn’t prevent the tears that flowed from my eyes. My son, oh what a glorious day this was indeed. I kissed Charlene again, then I leaned forward and planted a little kiss on the forehead of my newly born son. “We must celebrate his birth immediately.”
Charlene laughed, “Not today.”
I chuckled. “No, not today. May I?” I asked, gesturing to our son.
She nodded and allowed me to scoop his tiny body from her protective arms. Oh, my goodness, he was so precious, so vulnerable. As I looked down at my son, I wondered if this feeling of pride and… humbleness was something my own father had felt when he held me for the first time? “He is perfect, in every way.” I fingered his little fingers and toes and marveled at how amazing he was to grow inside of my wife’s belly until he was ready to be born. A miniature human, and by the frown on his face, it would seem that he wasn’t all that ready to leave the warmth of her womb. I laughed at his expression. “No doubt, taking after his father.”
Charlene smiled. “He is very handsome like his father. What… what should we name him, my love?”
I looked at him and the name came to me so very easily. “Drake. Drake Gables the second.”
“Drake?” she asked. “I like it. It’s a powerful name.”
“It was my father’s name.”
Charlene knew how much I honored my parents. How much it meant to me to be able to name my son after my father. She was my confidant, even more so than Sanese. And now that Charlene had given me a child, a boy… she would always be my most valued wife, which was what she wanted. Again, I kissed my son on his chubby cheek and his fingers.
