Provoost was elected a member of the Belgian Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature in 2003. She lives with her husband and three children in Antwerp, Belgium.
About the Translator
John Nieuwenhuizen’s translation of The Baboon King by Anton Quintana won the Mildred L. Batchelder Award in 1999. He has also translated Falling (Vallen) by Anne Provoost and What About Anna? (En Met Anna?) by Jan Simoen. Born in the Netherlands, John later emigrated to Australia, where he now makes his home in Melbourne.
