Spy on you and turn the info over to the resistance. I feel a glare coming on and I’d really like to choke the guy, so I take several calming breaths and level him with a stare. The sound of his nose crunching under my fist would put me in a good mood for days, but it’s more important to keep the peace, perform my job for the resistance, and do whatever it takes to protect what’s mine.

I smirk, and I’m gratified to see his face go red again.

“I’m her bodyguard. Anyone wants to get to her, they’ll have to go through me first.”

The dad looks me up and down. No doubt he’s taking in all two-fifty pounds of muscle and coming to the correct conclusion. No one’s going to mess with his daughter with the Neanderthal around.

His shoulders droop, and he cocks his head. “You have any bad genes?”

My smile is all teeth. “Tons of ’em.”

“Shit.” He shakes his head. “I’ll be watching you.”

I cross my arms over my chest and look down at him. “And I’ll be watching you.”

Amelia rolls her eyes. “You will not, Dad. You’ll be too busy trying to convince your grandchild to be a Wester instead of a Martell.”

“You will not turn my kid into some tennis-playing pussy.”

She giggles, and my heart kicks up. A glance at Wester and I spot the same awe on his face.

The guy pinches his brow and shakes his head. “I’ll have to find a way to fake the DNA.”

  CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

  Amelia

“Oh God! Oh Jackson, don’t stop! Don’t—”

A moment later my body twitches, and I cry out as ecstasy ripples through me. Barely thirty seconds later Jackson comes, and I collapse facedown onto the biggest, softest bed I’ve ever had. He withdraws from my pussy and rolls over.

My legs shake, and I don’t think I could move even if I wanted to. I can’t resist that chest of his, though, or that lovely line of fur that leads down his abs to his cock, and I reach over and pet him like he’s a kitty.

He purrs. I smile, but my mind is not on him. I’m glad for everything I have; this weird room inside the Arc with its blue lights embedded like stars in the domed ceiling, the stirring in my belly, and the fact that’s there’s all the food I could possibly want and more. Dad’s right, though. I don’t say anything, but I do want better.

Jackson scoops up a handful of my hair and lets it fall through his fingers. “What’s wrong?”

I blink up at him. “Nothing.”

He frowns and raises himself up on his elbows. “Don’t give me nothing. What is it?”

I toss him what I hope is a happy-looking smile. “Everything’s perfect. Look where we are? I have my father back, I’m going to have a baby, I love you, and you’ve been so good about everything, helping me, standing by me.”

  “Why wouldn’t I?”

“I know. Thank you. You’ve helped me so many times. I’m very lucky you hate giving up your things.”

He shakes his head. “I stand outside your bathroom door when you pee. I wash you in the bathtub. I fuck you three times a day, and the rest of the time I can’t get you out of my mind. There’s a reason my parents kicked me out and girls hid from me. I make people uncomfortable. I’d be in prison by now if Yellowstone hadn’t happened.”

“You would have chained some girl in your basement.”

He nods. “When I was younger I stalked girls, and if they were stupid enough to fall for me I fucked the shit out of them, but I never actually took one. It would have happened eventually. I’m ruled by my cock, and I need to be master.”

“Did you just say master? God, Jackson, that’s so hot.”

  He smirks.

“Is that why you like me? I let you do what you want?”

“Like you? The word is obsessed.”

I sigh, rest my chin on his chest, and stare off into nowhere. “I know.”

  “What? What do you know?”

“I just wish… You know when I said I loved you, I meant it. I’m so in love with you. I just wish that for you it was more than sex.”

A series of expressions crosses his face before finally he eyes me like I’m the one who needs to be medicated. “Anytime I can’t be with you, I turn into a total prick. Then when I hold you, I get choked up and I can’t speak. My heart goes crazy when I see you, and when you laugh, my heart drops all the way down to my balls.”

  “Really?”

“I try to do everything as right as I can because I want you to be proud of me. I would have been happy in the shittiest town out there just because I was with you. If I could bury my cock inside you and stay there forever, I would. I’m not a poetry guy, you know that, so call it what you want. Obsession, sickness. To me it’s love.”

My stomach flutters and sends butterflies to my chest. I want to wrap my arms and legs around him in the warmest hug he’s ever had. “I didn’t know you felt that way.”

He lifts a shoulder. “Big hairy beast like me.”

“I love big hairy men. You make me wet.”

He chokes on a laugh. “Oh yeah?”

“I’m still not giving you anal.”

A grin spreads across his face. “Oh, you will. You’ll beg me.”

“No way. Your dick is too big. It’s huge.”

His chest fills up, and his eyes gleam.

“Fuck. You’re the perfect woman,” says my Jackson, my lover, my five o’clock shadow. All girls should get themselves a stalker. In my experience they make the best boyfriends ever.
