Still looking behind me, I hit what felt like a wall and landed on my butt. I looked up and used my hand to shield my eyes from the blinding sun.

“What the hell are you doing running and screaming through the maze like a wild woman?” Charles glowered down at me and didn’t offer a hand to help me up. As usual, he was the perfect gentleman.

“Um,” I pushed myself up. “Theo and I were, uh, playing hide and seek like we did when we were kids.”

Charles narrowed his eyes. “If you have time for such childish pursuits, perhaps I should find you a job in one of my offices. Start earning your keep.”

Theo thundered around the corner. Not seeing his father because of the angle, he swooped me up. It’s time I claimed my prize.”

I tensed my muscles. “Theo, your dad.”

Charles glared from me to Theo and back again. If he suspected anything, he kept it to himself.

Theo lowered me to the ground and cleared his throat.“Pops, it’s not like you to come into the maze.”

“I took the afternoon off. Wanted to have lunch with my boy.” The hostility in Charles’ eyes told me I wasn’t welcome.

“Sounds good! How about the three of us have lunch?”

“Well…” Charles paused and scowled at me with resentment on his face.

“Thanks,” I said, stuffing my hands into my pockets, “I have some packing I need to do for my weekend away with mom. I’ll give it a miss. Enjoy lunch.”

“Addy, wait. Stay.” Theo reached for me, but I dodged him.

  “Nah! I’m good.”

I sprinted out of the maze and up to the house. The withering look in Charles’ eyes, told me he sensed something odd, but I wasn’t sure if he knew what.

  Chapter Seven

“So how was your weekend with your mom? Find anything interesting?” Theo sat at the table opposite me. Traveling separate cars, we’d driven three hours to find a restaurant where we could have dinner and hold hands over the table without fear of being caught. And because our parents were in Nashville for the night, we had the house to ourselves.

“It was fun. It’s been a while since we spent time together. We used to be so close. I miss that. For ages, I thought she was vapid and lived for accumulating crap. But she knows what she’s talking about. The dealers all know her and respect her opinion.”

Our waiter cleared the table and sat a dessert menu in front of us.

“Do you think she suspects anything?” he asked, reaching across the table to hold my hand.

“I doubt it. She said she was sad I was leaving and offered to come help me settle in.”

  “What did you say?”

“I told her the boredom would drive her insane and that I’d be fine.”

I picked up my water glass and held it out to him. “A toast to two freaks who have fallen in love.”

Theo clinked his glass against mine. “To freaks in love.” His eyes glittered with such tenderness, my heart swooned.

It would be tough when he went back to base and I left for college. Not seeing him every day saddened me, but at least I would have my summer memories. If his transfer was approved, Fort Benning wasn’t too far away from campus. If we couldn’t see each other every weekend, then every other weekend would have to do.

“Have you heard when you’re on a tour of duty again?”

He sipped his water before answering. “Not for another year. Looks like you’re stuck with me.”

“Really? Here I was hoping I’d be able to screw around while my man defended our nation.”

He laughed. “Your sarcasm is going to get you into a whole lot of trouble.”

  “What kind of trouble, Soldier?”

He lowered his glass and looked at me from beneath hooded eyes. “The kind where you scream my name.”

“Oh.” My heart raced and my panties dampened at the promises his words held. “I think I’ve lost my appetite for dessert.”

“I don’t think I can wait until we get home.”

I leaned back in my chair and flicked my lips over my tongue. “I think I’m going to make you wait. First one there gets to tell the other exactly what to do.” I stood, and skipped toward the restaurant door.

A profile I recognized caught my eye. Michael, my mom’s assistant, sat engrossed in a conversation with a woman I didn’t recognize. I was sure he didn’t see me, and before he turned his head, I hurried out of the restaurant.

Theo came out a few minutes later to find me pacing the parking lot. “Did you see Michael? Do you think he saw us? Oh god. Oh god. Oh god.” My breath came in and out of my lungs so fast, I thought I would pass out.

Theo placed his hands on my shoulders to stop me pacing. “I saw him, too. Don’t worry. He was too busy making googly eyes at his date to worry about us.”

  “You think?”

“He wouldn’t have noticed if the building fell down around him. Stop worrying.”

I blew out a loud breath and nodded. “You’re right. It’s just… now isn’t the right time for anyone to know.”

He pressed a kiss to my forehead. “If I still make it home before you, is our bet still on?”

I laughed and pushed him away. “You have a one-track mind, you know that.”

He clicked open his car and jumped in. “You better get driving. My one-track mind has a night you’ll never forget planned.”

  Chapter Eight

Silence echoed around the house and defused moonlight streamed into my bedroom. I’d broken several laws to make it home before Theo.

Since we’d gotten together, every time we had sex it was fast and frantic. We were constantly aware that someone could find us. Tonight, no one was home, and I planned to take everything slow. To make love. To enjoy and explore each other’s bodies.

There was a rap on my door. Even though I knew it was Theo, I jumped. “Come in.”

My door opened and Theo stood there, leaning against the door jamb. Nervous energy tickled my belly. Expectation filled me. Thrilled me. Finally, we were totally alone. I smiled and tilted my head. “What took you so long?” I yawned and stretched my arms. “I’ve been here forever.”

He strode into my room until he stood a few inches from me. “What did you do? Break every statewide traffic law?”

“Maybe.” I cupped his beautiful face in my hands and ran my thumb up and down his rough jaw. “It doesn’t matter if I sprouted wings and flew. I won, so I get to decide what we do tonight.”

His lips curved into a wicked smile. “And what do you have in mind?”

I took his hand and led him to the bed. “You’ll see.” I stood on my tiptoes and flicked my tongue over the shell of his ear. He shuddered. He was as anxious and as excited as I was.

I ripped his shirt from his jeans and stroked my hand across his abs, running my fingers upward over the rise and fall of his muscles. “You’re perfect,” I said with a sigh.

“Oh, yeah?” His voice was barely a whisper.

“Yeah.” I removed my hands from beneath his shirt and moved them up his buttons.

“You’re not so bad yourself.” He lifted his hands to help me unbutton his shirt, but I pushed them down. “Let me.”

He smiled and didn’t say a word.

Slowly, I unbuttoned his shirt, kissing each exposed piece of skin. His muscles tensed. His heart thudded against his chest, reaching out to me. I continued to unbutton and kiss my way down until I reached his belt. His cock strained against his jeans, demanding escape.

Lowering myself to my knees, I unbuckled his belt, popped the button and dragged down the zipper, tooth by tooth. His breaths came shallow and fast.

“Kick your shoes off,” I said.

Theo toed off his shoes and kicked them to the side. I curved my fingers into the waistband of his jeans and shimmied them over his backside and muscular thighs. His cock sprung free, a drop of moisture already beading the tip.

Taking him in my mouth was tempting, but not tonight. Tonight I had other plans.
>
To tease him, I ran my tongue over his heavy balls and up his shaft to the tip and curled my hand around the swollen head. A rumble came from his chest. If he had a choice, he would wind his fingers around my hair and slide into my mouth. His fingers twitched, but he kept them by his side.

  “How you doing, Soldier?”

  “Holding on by a thread.”

I pushed his jeans down to his ankles; he kicked them off. I kissed my way up his strong legs. Rubbing my cheeks across his heated skin, inhaling his musky scent that would forever call to me.

Standing, I walked around him and trailed my fingers over his skin, my fingertips leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake.

  “Lie on the bed.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he said. His voice heavy with lust.

Theo lay on the mattress and I stood by the bed marveling at his physique.

“Watch me,” I said, even though, his eyes were already on me.

  “How could I not?”

When I peeled off my dress, he sucked in a breath. I wore black, see through underwear. My nipples, already hard, protruded through the sheer material.

Theo swallowed, the muscles in his jaw working hard. “If I’d known you had that on beneath your dress, I would have banged you in the parking lot.”

  “Is that so?”

He reached out to grab me, but I stepped away.

“Uh, uh, you get to touch when I say.”

He groaned. “I’ll get you back for this.”

“I’m not so sure about that.”

I cupped my breasts and swiped my thumbs over my nipples, delighting in the jolt of pleasure that zeroed in on my clit. Reaching back, I unhooked my bra and let it fall to the floor. Hooking my thumbs into the spaghetti thin straps of my thong, I pushed it down and kicked it off. Excitement coated my inner thighs. I was ready for him, for this.

I straddled him, trapping his cock between my wet folds, rubbing my clit against the helmet of his cock, using him to give me pleasure. His cock jumped, and he reached up, gripping my hips, digging his fingers in.

“You have no idea what you do to me,” he rasped.

Leaning over him, my nipples brushed against his smooth chest. “Oh, I think I have an idea.”

I caught his lips in a kiss. I sensed he wanted hard and fast, but I kept it slow and sensual, gliding my tongue over his swollen lips. Frustrated moans tumbled from him. “Fuck, Addy. You’re everything I’ll ever need.”

I sat up, and reached for my breasts, caressing them, pushing them together, swiping my thumbs over my nipples until they screamed with sensitivity.

  “Pinch them,” I whispered.

Theo released my hips, caught my nipples between his thumb and forefinger and pinched to the point of pain. I cried out and my pussy fluttered, aching for something to grasp. I continued to rub my clit against him, keeping my unhurried pace. The beginning of an orgasm coiled low in my stomach. It wouldn’t be long. He tweaked and teased my nipples, my hips moved faster as if they had a mind of their own, chasing after the orgasm that was in reach.

  “Theo. Oh, Theo.”

Higher and higher. Faster and faster. I threw my head back and squeezed my eyes shut concentrating on my pleasure. Theo released my nipples and returned his hands to my hips. Unable to stop myself, I grabbed my breasts and played with my nipples, pulling the taut buds. I ground against Theo’s hard cock which was now slick with my arousal. My climax came hard. I screamed and sobbed as the pleasure consumed me. Setting me on fire.

I was vaguely aware of Theo’s whispered words of encouragement. The waves lessened and my head flopped forward, my body humming from the vibrations of my powerful climax.

Neither of us spoke, both of us lost in the power of the moment.

Like a heartbeat, his cock throbbed beneath me. If he wanted, he could flip me onto my back and slam into me, taking what he wanted. Every muscle in his body strained and I knew holding back was killing him.

“Thank you.” I leaned over and kissed him hard and deep. Moans sounded from his throat and drifted into my mouth. He traced his hands up and down the ridges of my spine, over the curve of my ass, along my thighs, up my arms. It was as if he was mapping my body, committing every rise and dip to memory.

Theo reached forward and palmed my mound. He slid two fingers inside me and I clamped my muscles around him, riding him as I would his cock. Pleasure soared within me, sending me to the clouds. I twisted and turned until he hit the spot that always drove me insane.

I cried out and rode his fingers hard. Quivering, shaking, and calling his name. But it wasn’t his fingers I wanted, I wanted him. I needed him to stretch me, to claim me. He withdrew his fingers and slid them to my clit, still sensitive from my orgasm, and massaged the swollen bud, sending me into the stratosphere. My pelvis writhed and jerked, rising higher. The tip of his cock nudged my entrance. With a groan that came from deep inside, he rose up and plunged deep, ramming into me.

The intensity was too much and I fell forward, holding onto him for dear life. I caught his bottom lip between my teeth and sucked. I moved down to his neck, his chest, and bit. Hard. He plowed into my depths and pressed his fingers against my clit. With his free arm, he clasped my head, holding me to him.

Our sweat mingled. Our breaths came loud and fast. Our hearts beat in time. I didn’t know where one of us began and the other ended. The intensity of my love, of what we shared, brought tears to my eyes. And for the second time, I gave myself over to pleasure.

“Theo, Theo, Theo,” I chanted against his neck, thrashing against his touch.

I forced myself to sit up and splayed my hands over his chest. I had to watch him when he came, needed to see the wonder, the pleasure, on his face. I lifted my hips and slammed down on him over and over. For a nanosecond his face froze. His hips rose from the mattress. His fingers dug into my hips and he pounded into me hard and fast with desperate abandon, exploding deep inside. I trembled from the tips of my toes to the ends of my hair.

Panting, I sagged onto his body. Neither of us said a word. He eased from me, and I lay beside him, stroking his sweat-slicked chest.

  “I love you,” I whispered.

He pressed a sleepy kiss to my forehead. “Not as much as I love you.”

I snuggled into his warmth and yawned. “Don’t fall asleep.”

  “I won’t. Promise.”

  Chapter Nine

I wasn’t sure what woke me first: my bedroom light being switched on or my mom’s screams. I sat up and yanked the blankets around Theo and me. Blood pounded furiously through my veins and realization slapped me across the face.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Anger and disbelief twisted her face. She pointed a shaking finger at me. “When Michael told me what he saw, I refused to believe him. Said there was no way… Not my daughter. Get dressed. Now.” She turned her attention to Theo. “How could you? How could you do this to your father and me?” Tears streamed down her face, her mascara leaving spidery black trails. “Under our roof? You’re siblings. You grew up together.”

Theo’s face remained expressionless. He reached down and dragged his jeans under the covers and slid them on. “I love Addy, Stephanie. We’re not siblings, and we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Charles marched into my room. “What’s the meaning of this?” His eyes filled with enough hate to burn holes in my skin. “You little bitch. How dare you put your slutty hands on my son.”

Theo strode toward his father and straightened his back, standing to his full height. “Don’t you dare talk to her like that.”

“Son,” Charles said speaking in the smarmy way he did when he wanted people to agree with him. “She’s not good for you. She’ll ruin your life.”

“Dad, you don’t know what you’re talking about. She’s made my life better. I love her.”

Charles’ face turned several shades of red. My mom didn’t come to my defense. Instead, she crossed her arms and paced the bedroom
floor. “How could you, Addison. How could you?”

“Can you please leave and allow me to dress,” I said, my voice tinny and small.

Theo pushed his blustering father out of the room and my mom followed. Before Theo shut the door, Charles shouted. “Both of you in my office in five minutes!”

I closed my eyes and drew in a deep breath. “This is why I didn’t want to tell them. They see us as siblings, not step siblings.” I pressed my head into my knees and sobbed.

Theo sat down on the bed and ran his hand through my hair. “Ssssh, it’ll be okay. I promise. It’ll be okay. We’ll go to the office and talk to them. Make them see sense. They’ll have no choice but to accept us.”

  “And if they don’t?”

“They will,” he said, his voice filled with a confidence I didn’t feel.

I lifted my head to look at him. “I hope you’re right.”

  “I am.”

We strode into the office holding hands, united in our love. They wouldn’t break us apart no matter how much they tried. My mom walked back and forth in front of the hissing fire. A tissue crumpled in her hands. Train tracks of mascara darkened her eyes and cheeks.

Charles sat behind his desk with his arms crossed. A cigar smoldered in an ashtray in front of him and he glowered at us.

“Addison, you are to pack your belongings and leave first thing tomorrow,” he said. “I don’t care where you go. You’re forbidden to come back to this house as long as I’m alive. I will not have you under my roof. You’ll go to hell for what you’ve done.” I looked at my mom, who kept her head down and mouth shut. Her precious antiques were more valuable than me.

“Mom?” She didn’t acknowledge me. “Mom?” I said louder.

She raised her glazed eyes and stared at me, shock covering her face. “It’s for the best. You were never happy here.” A sob worked its way into her voice, but she swallowed it down.
