Touching the Wild

Having arrived at a pragmatic as well as an ethical and moral crossroads in our peculiar biological existence, we may have a small window—the most fragile possibility of a choice. History may prove that we have chosen poorly, or that perhaps we simply have failed to make choices, or that our choices lacked the flame of common sense and moral integrity. The historical model does not bode well for the inherent ability of our species to make wise decisions. In fact, history clearly testifies that a wise choice by any human civilization is essentially unprecedented in nature.

What will we do this time? The river of life is only so wide and so deep and as we continue to draw down the levels with our ever-increasing thirst for all that it provides. Will we continue to be the agent of death? Or will we ultimately prove ourselves to be worthy to share membership in these perfect waters.
