Trust the Moon

Almost immediately, the familiar notes of “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” filled the room. Dylan turned the dial of the volume up, then straightened and pulled her with him. Without another word, he led her to the backyard and the silver light falling from the dark sky. He hadn’t been lying about the high fence, and even though they were in the middle of town, it felt like they were completely alone.

Their bodies merged, like it wasn’t their first dance, like they had been coming together like this since the song had first been released. His strong forearm wrapped around the small of her back, gently molding their lower halves together, while Gena did the same around the back of his neck. Her free hand rested over his heart. She was quickly learning it was one of her favorite spots on his body.

“I almost think I can pass on the ice cream just for another dance like this one.” She kept her tone low, almost a whisper. Any higher felt like it would shatter the spell the music wove around them.

“We’ll just have the ice cream later,” Dylan promised, his voice matching hers. He took a deep breath, and she knew he was inhaling the scent of her hair, the light musk from her skin. “See? Sometimes it’s not so bad not to shift.”

In moments like this, she had to agree with him. His rising erection nudged against her hip, but he made no movement to strengthen the contact, as if just the heat of her body against his was enough to satisfy him. It left her a little bewildered, though she refused to dwell on it. Dylan was simply proving himself to be different in yet another way than most of the men she spent time with. Or maybe he knew sex was a sure thing so there was no need to rush it. Either way, Gena appreciated it however long it might last. It had been far too long since she’d just been held.

He began rubbing her back in a slow circle. His hand was warm, especially in the cooler air of the night, but he didn’t pull her closer, or hold her tighter. She wanted to feel more of his body, though, especially when his heart started to beat faster beneath her palm.

“I have to admit, I didn’t see the night going this way.”

“Oh?” Her warm breath skimmed over his neck, heating her cheeks even more than they already were. “How did you see it?”

“I thought I would be punching out guys for leering at you while you danced.”

She chuckled. “Do you have any neighbors with peeping-Tom fetishes? You still could.”

“No, no peeping Toms. That I know of.” The song ended, but they kept swaying, not missing a beat until “Only You” started. “God, you feel good, Gena.”

“We do fit together just right, don’t we?” All it took to touch her lips to his skin was a tilt of her head, the slightest of pressure from her mouth. “I have to tell you, I didn’t see the night going like this, either.”

“How did you see it going?”

“I didn’t see dinner lasting so long, just because we were talking.” She dropped another kiss just below his ear. “And I thought we’d go someplace dark, hot and sweaty, and I’d find an even darker corner and fuck you against the wall until neither one of us could walk home.”

“Do you know what we’re actually going to do when we’re done dancing?” He waited until Gena shook her head before answering. “I’m going to take you up to my bed and make love to you.”

Her throat tightened. She regarded him for long seconds before murmuring, “I’ve walked away from more than one guy who wanted to do that, you know.”

“I figured as much. But…” Now his arm tightened around her, reminding her of his strength. “I don’t think you’re going anywhere tonight.”

Wordlessly, she shook her head. She might not have imagined this date playing out like this, but now that it had gone off in this direction, it had far too much momentum to stop. What scared her more than anything else—more even, than his quiet declaration about what he was going to do—was how she wasn’t fighting him on it. This wasn’t her style. But tonight, this wasn’t about her.

“I want to show you just what you do to me,” Dylan continued. “You’re probably thinking that you’re going to humor me, aren’t you?”

She finally managed a half smile. “Maybe I’m biding my time until I can ravish you myself.”

Dylan lifted his head. “I hope you’re not going to be doing that while we’re upstairs. Staring at the ceiling and biding your time.”

It was harder to tease him when he looked at her like that. “No.” The word slipped out before she could stop it. “I don’t think that’s even possible with you.”

He grinned and cupped her cheek. They were still swaying, but they might as well have been standing still. She stared at him, her breath caught in her throat, her face and throat feeling almost feverish. He tilted his head and instead of claiming her mouth like Gena had expected, he gently kissed her full bottom lip. “Good.”

A sound that could only be called a whimper arose in the back of her throat. “How long exactly are you going to make me wait before we go upstairs?”

“I thought you wanted to dance?”

  “I want you more.”

“I want you more too,” Dylan admitted. His mouth descended again, and she braced herself for a real kiss, but once again it was nothing more than a brush of contact. It was enough to make her throat tighten with frustration. “Come on.”

She felt like she was going to leap out of her skin when he pulled her back towards the house. Another song was starting on the record player, but she could barely hear it over the thudding of her pulse in her ears. It was an intoxicating elixir of desire, anticipation and fear, all stirred up into something new and vibrant, something that made it easier to climb the stairs behind Dylan, something that made it impossible to pull away and run.

The music was a distant hum when he pushed the door open. Gena didn’t wait for him to lead her any closer. She stepped up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, raining open-mouthed kisses along the back of his neck.

“Let me do this first.” She tugged his shirt free of his pants, to start undoing the buttons one by one from the bottom. “I’ve waited for this all night.”

Dylan obediently stood still, letting her pop each button free, exposing his chest an inch at a time. She could have sworn that he shuddered as she dragged his shirt down his shoulders and off his arms. His skin was smooth across his broad shoulders, dotted by freckles and larger birthmarks. She put her mouth against one, tracing the shape with the tip of her tongue, and this time he definitely shuddered.

Turning around, Dylan wrapped his arm around her, and his eyes burned in the dim light. She couldn’t look away from him as he hooked his finger beneath her chin and tilted her head back to better reach her mouth. This kiss wasn’t a glancing caress, but something far harder, his tongue pushing past her lips hungrily.

Gena moaned into the kiss, relieved to finally get to taste him. Though she molded against his body as best she could, Dylan denied her the full contact she needed, the contact she was desperate for. He seemed content to pour his passion into the long, deep kisses, kisses that made the back of her knees tremble and her toes curl. She had to settle for skimming her hands along his bare skin, etching the memory of each muscle into her fingertips for reliving at a later date.

Dylan tugged at her shirt, pulling it free of her jeans so he could fit his hand beneath the garment. Despite the heat of his palm, goose bumps blanketed her back. His fingers curled, caressing her softly as the deep kisses continued. His chest was as warm as his hand, and she couldn’t wait to feel his weight and heat pressing her into the mattress. A surge of desire raced through her, and she cupped the back of his head, trying to force him into kissing her harder, faster. Like he had done before.

Instead of giving into her hunger, he lifted his head and licked his lips. He looked at her with hooded eyes—she knew that look well. Her pussy fluttered in response. Looking almost solemn, he pulled her blouse over her head.

When his gaze flickered to her throat, Gena realized it betrayed the fast beating of her heart.
She swallowed. He followed that motion too. It made her pulse pound even harder.

“Halfway there.” She traced her fingers along his trim waist. “Unless you’re going to make me wait for this too.”

“I don’t think you’re used to waiting, are you?” Dylan buried his face against her neck. She felt his breath fan across her skin just before he kissed her. His mouth was firm, and she got a small thrill from the occasional scrape of teeth. He caressed her just above her waistband, teasing the sensitive skin. “Or are you in a big hurry tonight?”

“No to both questions,” she breathed. “I just…” She cried out when he sucked briefly at a patch of skin near her ear. “Jesus, Dylan, do you have any idea what you do to me?”

“It must be something good. Since you’re here.” Dylan unsnapped her bra and that garment fell away like it was nothing. He kissed down her throat, his mouth getting tantalizingly close to the curve of her breast.

Gena couldn’t think of anywhere else she’d rather be, even if she was impatient for more. She threaded her fingers through his soft hair, cupping the back of his head as he grew ever nearer to her nipple. Had she realized how soft it was before? How thick? She remembered the way his pelt had rippled beneath her fingers when they’d been shifted, and whimpered as the memory coalesced with the reality of him here and now. It was impossible to separate the two. Something whispered in the back of her head that was a good thing.

He skirted the edge of her areola with the scantest touch of his lips. Just the nearness made it pucker even more. His hot breath bled through her skin to add to the fire inside her flesh, but all she could do was stand there and hold on, pray that he wouldn’t torment her for hours on end.

She swallowed. Every time he kissed a trail around her nipple, she was more inclined to either beg him for relief or throw him to the bed and take it for her own. Neither option made her truly happy. She had no choice but to wait.

Dylan cupped her other breast, his palm just as teasing and light as his mouth. Her hands were in constant motion. She tested the texture of his skin, enjoying the smooth glide against her palms as she ran them up and down his back. She didn’t stop moving her hands until he closed his lips around her nipple, holding it in place with the barest pressure as his tongue flicked over the hard flesh. Each point of contact made her muscles flutter from her throat to her clit.

Gena almost sighed with relief when he made a move to unbutton and unzip her jeans, but her relief was short lived. Even as he guided the pants down her legs, he continued to tease her sensitive breasts.

“Dylan…” She couldn’t contain it anymore, not with everything roaring inside her. “What about the bed?”

“What about it?” Dylan snagged her panties, curling his fingers over the band. “I’m undressing you first.”

“Yes, but you’re doing it very…” her breath choked at the brush of his knuckles over her mound, “…slowly.”

Dylan chuckled, but she felt his amusement more than heard it. “I think you’re going to be okay.”

“I beg to differ,” Gena muttered, but really, there was nothing she could do about his excruciating pace except take it. Her short nails dug into the hard muscles of his back, and she tipped her head back, squeezing her eyes shut against the buffeting sensations. Silently, she willed Dylan to sink to his knees and use his mouth on her pussy, only to change her mind when it dawned on her he’d probably torture her with feather caresses there too.

Her underwear joined the pants on the floor, and she was left naked in the middle of his bedroom. He had seen her naked before, of course, but this was different. This time, she was far more vulnerable, far more exposed, and a part of her shied away from that. The rest of her felt too good to give in to the urge to run.

Dylan did lower himself to his knees, but instead of burying his face between her thighs, he left a trail of sweet kisses along the ridge of her hip and across her stomach. The occasional sigh told her that he was exactly where he wanted to be.

He was too far down for her to hold properly. Her only option for touching him was his head. So Gena explored everywhere she could—the angle of his cheek, the curve of his ear, the sharp line of his brow. It helped to combat the trembling in her legs, focusing her on something that wasn’t her own desires.

But it didn’t help that Dylan kept making these soft sounds in his throat—not quite moans, more than sighs. He acted like he’d never tasted anything as delicious as her skin, like this was the first time he had ever seen her naked or touched her body. The only way to drown them out was to let loose her own cries, breathy whispers she hoped would encourage him to throw caution to the wind and her to the bed.

His mouth finally reached her pussy, and she clenched with anticipation. He dragged the tip of his tongue down her slit, gathering the beads of arousal, teasing her with the pressure and heat of his mouth. He made a sound of satisfaction, and she automatically widened her stance, encouraging him to explore more of her folds. Gena couldn’t stop her cry of protest when he pushed himself to his feet. Dylan put his arm around her and spun her to the bed.

The first bounce against the mattress shocked her more than she expected. Her legs wrapped around his hips on instinct, but that only served to rub her wet flesh against the hard edge of his zipper, creating new shocks careening through her system.

“This is more like it,” Gena purred, right before devouring his mouth.

Dylan didn’t break away from the kiss. He responded in kind, allowing her to explore his mouth with all the hunger she had been harboring. She pushed her hips up, grinding against his erection. As soon as she did, he caught her arm, winding it above her head and holding it there as he moved away from her lips.

“Don’t try to distract me. I was busy with something.”

His slide down her body forced her to relax her legs, though he kept a grip on her arm as long as he could. When he let her go, it was to gently push on her leg, spreading her open to his mouth in ways he couldn’t do when they’d both been standing. His dark head bent over her mound, his lips and tongue bypassing her pussy to nibble along the tender skin of her inner thigh. Gena loved oral sex, but this felt different. She was more exposed than she could ever remember being, more vulnerable than when she’d been standing naked in the middle of the floor. The bed at her back was unfamiliar, and the hands and mouth that caressed her more tender than she’d ever experienced.

  “Dylan…”

Except she didn’t know what else to say. She could barely speak as it was, especially when his tongue delved past her outer lips to circle around her opening.

With his hands on her thighs, he used his thumbs to gently pull her lips apart, exposing her engorged clit. The tip of his thumb scraped against the hood, sending a shockwave through her system. His tongue continued to circle her opening, hot and wet. She tensed when she thought he would plunge his tongue into her channel, but he was even going to make her wait for that.

His thumb scraped over her clit again, and her hips jerked. Gena caught her breath, holding it until her lungs burned and he pressed the pad of his finger directly onto her throbbing flesh.

Her orgasm came from nowhere. All she knew was that the world went white, that every muscle in her body tensed, that the scream that tore from her throat was raw and tremulous. She thrashed against the bed, but Dylan refused to withdraw, holding her down with powerful hands as he continued to massage her clit. His mouth wasn’t on her anymore, but that didn’t matter. Nothing mattered except the fire chasing after the shocks in her veins.

She was still gasping for breath when she opened her eyes and gazed down at him. “Fuck,” she murmured. “Where did that come from?”

“I think you’re just a bit on edge.” He languidly licked her fluttering skin. “Feel better?”

“Much.” And she did. She felt like she was going to melt into the mattress. “So how come you’re not this on edge? What am I doing wrong here?”

  “I’m on edge,” Dylan assure
d her. He continued to lap at her, but it was clear that he was just collecting her juices, not trying to wind her up again. “But I already told you…I’m trying to earn that second date.”

She smiled softly. “I think you had it earned the second we started dancing.”

“Oh, that’s good to know.” He straightened, sitting back on his heels as he unbuttoned his trousers. His cock jutted free from the material, and she shivered at the memory of his length sliding into her slick channel. Dylan pushed and kicked at his pants until they dangled off the end of his feet—not his most graceful moment, but she didn’t need him to be graceful.

He climbed up the length of her body, looking more like a cat than his totem wolf. “For the record,” he murmured, his lips brushing against hers, “nobody has ever put me more on edge.”

Gena held him close, just breathing him in. “That’s because you’re barely legal,” she teased.

“Actually, you’ve got it backwards. I’ve spent most of the past eight years as a giant, walking hormone.” He reached between them and dragged the tip of his cock along her lips, the blunt head hot where it pressed against her clit.

She wasn’t so far gone that she’d forgotten her senses. “Stop.” It came out louder than she’d expected, and Dylan immediately stiffened. Slipping her hand down, she fisted his length, angling it away from her opening. “We need a condom.”

  “We need a… We what?”

“A condom. It’s the wrong time in my cycle to risk not using one.” A horrible thought struck her, and her hand stilled. “Please tell me you have a condom.”

“Yeah, I have one. I have a few, actually.” Dylan rolled away from her to the other side of the bed. She thought he would open the drawer in the nightstand, but instead he snagged a box of Trojans from beneath the bed. He pulled out an entire line of packets, tore one free, then dropped the rest, letting them fall to the floor.

Before he could rip open the foil, she plucked it from his fingers. After extracting the condom, she wrapped her other hand around his cock. He throbbed against her palm, the length jerking as she unrolled the latex down to the base.
