Falau nodded his head in agreement and took a sip from his soda. “You need a drink or anything? Sorry, no beers or any booze in the house. Grady and I are still doing well.”

“No drinks over your vacation?” asked Tyler with one eyebrow raised.”

“Not a drop. Not to say I was not tempted. The stuff was all over the place. Even in my room. At one point I put my hand on the bottle and was ready to drink it but was able to stop myself. And just like they always say in the meeting the problem passed and I was ok. It is just in that moment that it gets hard. But sober is sober and I am still sober.”

“Good for you. You look better. Where did you end up picking for vacation?” asked Tyler walking to the refrigerator and pulling on the handle.

“Why are you asking that? You can track me wherever I go. You know where I was.”

Tyler popped the top on the can of soda letting off the final hiss and crack of the can. “You’re right. I could look it up and see everything you did and where you were. Strange thing is that my system crashed and ate all the data for you in the last week. That has never happened. It is almost like I intentionally did it to get rid of the information.”

Falau directed his attention to the TV pointing to the player. “Nice shot!”

“Ya, a very nice shot. So, where did you go?”

“Florida. I went to see the mouse and kick around down there. Sorry to hear about your tracking system.”

“Ya, it is a bummer. I have it all fixed now. Went back online today after you got home.”

Falau looked over to Tyler and gave the man a smile. “It is a great thing that it is back up and working. It keeps all of the agents safe.”

  Bang bang bang.

The sound of another hand hitting on the front door distracted the men causing Falau to get up and walk to the steps. “Grady, can you get that. I think it’s the food.” called out Falau leaning over the railing.

“I got it. Just might take me a few to get up there.” said Grady shuffling his way to the front door.

Moving back into the room Falau placed himself back down in the same spot he had been in before.

“We got some crazy information about probes in a normally safe place.”

“Is a job coming out of it?” asked Falau.

“I don’t think so. Seems like the situation just took care of itself. You ever hear about the island of Madeira?”

“Ya, my family came from there on my father’s father’s side.”

“From what we know there were a rash of murders there. One cop shot. One cop killed. A kid killed and people burned. A total cluster fuck. It was like a war started.”

Keeping his eyes from looking at his friend, Falau nodded his head in agreement. “Sounds like bad stuff.”

“Then, the guys who were doing all this stuff just up and disappear. Gone from the face of the earth. Nobody knows what happened to them. All the people in the area are saying that they saw nothing happen. Only information we could get was from a five-year-old girl who said a white guy came around and hit one of the kids one day. She said he was a tourist.”

“Dangerous stuff to pick fights with locals anywhere. Guy is lucky if he didn’t get killed with that kind of behavior.” said Falau giving a short glance at his friend.

“The guy is very lucky. The judges were looking at the case and seeing if we had anyone in the area and that’s when my system went down. If we could have gotten someone there the killer would have been identified and taken out.”

The shuffling pattern of Grady’s feet started to make their way up the steps with the sound of the top of the bag being opened for him to steal a chicken finger from the box.

“The judges were interested in something like that? It’s not like this was an injustice in a trial.”

“True, but if a tourist went to an island and started to kill people then we might need to step in and take the person down. I am just glad you were not there and that nobody hurt you.”

The room fell silent and the awkwardness increased with Falau understanding that Tyler knew where he had been. His direct boss knew he was involved but was willing to cover for him now.

“I am sure the guy was not just there killing people for the hell of it. Who goes on vacation and does that. You would have to be a total psychopath. I would bet something happened and he had no other way out of the situation.”

“Maybe you're right, but I bet he had other ways he could have handled the situation. Maybe go to friends that can help with things like that.”

“I understand but sometimes the timing is everything. People sometimes are forced into something they don’t want to do but it is the only thing that we can do.”

“Food’s here!” said Grady with a chicken finger extending from his mouth like a cigar in a gambler’s mouth. The older man shuffled to the coffee table and placed the bag down removing the boxes one by one.

“Feast fit for a king.” said Grady with a large smile on his face.

“Looks good, man.” said Tyler looking down at the food and then back to Falau. “I am on your side all the time. Just don’t put me in a situation that I can’t be.”

“No problem.” said Falau nodding his head.

“I was talking to Grady about the food.” said Tyler with a wink and a smile to the other two men.
