Impossible (to Resist) Boss: Billionaire Romance
Page 20
Becca came from the doorway at the back of the room. “Adam just said that everyone’s waiting. They’re ready when you are.”
I took a deep breath and then grabbed my bouquet of flowers off the table. “I’m ready. Let’s do this!”
I was Mrs. Jason Kaine. Lilliana Kaine. Married to the sexiest man on the planet. It was a fairytale ending I never could have imagined.
I kissed my parents good-bye and Jason and I set off for our honeymoon. It had taken awhile, but Jason had won over my parents with his charm. They had been highly suspicious of his money and wary at the extravagant plans I had made for the wedding, but in the end realized how happy he made me.
We were heading off to Bora Bora. I decided a European tour of all the tourist spots could wait for another time. For our honeymoon, I wanted extravagant, luxurious and relaxing. And plenty of privacy.
We were staying in a picturesque thatched bungalow that was situated directly over the brilliant blue South Pacific. We could step out our door and into the inviting water or relax on the terrace or in the private infinity pool. The bungalows were opulently appointed with every amenity and even had see-through glass bottom floors to the sea-life below. Plenty of five-star dining options, a cocktail lounge and spa services were all available onsite if we chose to leave our intimate retreat. I was itching to get there and get our honeymoon started.
We were on the long plane ride to paradise when Jason asked me, “Are you sure you’re not going to miss backpacking through Europe?”
I smiled. “It wouldn’t be so bad, if I could share a tent with you.”
“I guess you’ll just have to settle for Bora Bora.” His fingers brushed a stray hair behind my ear.
Even now, his slightest touch had me breathing heavily.
“You happy, Mrs. Kaine?”
“Ecstatic.”
Happily Ever After.
Epilogue
Jason looked at his watch and frowned. Jesus Christ. This woman was already 45 minutes late. He hadn’t even interviewed her yet and he knew she’d be a disaster for the job. If he wasn’t so damn desperate for a new Administrative Assistant, he’d just leave and go home, but since Lilliana and Mia weren’t going to be there anyway, he’d might as well see it through.
His phone rang. He saw that it was Lilliana, so he answered. “Hi Lilliana.”
“Hey babe. How did the interview go?”
He heard a hint of irritation creeping into his voice. “She hasn’t bothered to show up yet. I didn’t complain much when she insisted on the interview at this inconvenient time, but now she’s late? It’s so unprofessional.”
Lilliana tried to soothe his nerves. “You said her resume looked amazing. And, didn’t she come highly recommended, too? Why don’t you give her a chance? She said she couldn’t do the interview until the end of her workday. Maybe she got caught in traffic?”
Jason grumbled. “At least she could call. How are you and Mia? Did you get to Becca’s okay?”
Becca had moved a couple hours west of Boston and Lilliana was going to visit her overnight. “Yep, no problem. Jason, I know you’re disappointed that we won’t be there tonight to celebrate your birthday. But, I promise we’ll celebrate tomorrow night.”
He tried not to sulk like a baby. He just knew he’d miss his girls tonight. “I know. Don’t worry about me. You haven’t seen Becca in awhile, so have fun tonight.”
“I will.” She sounded so happy. “Let me put Mia on the phone. Hold on.”
He heard Lilliana in the background, “Say goodnight to Daddy, Mia.”
His daughter’s tiny voice came on the line. “Goodnight Daddy! I love you.”
“Goodnight Mia. I love you, too, sweetie.” He felt a swell of pride as he thought of his daughter.
He heard Lilliana coaching her again, “say happy birthday to Daddy.”
“Happy Birthday, Daddy. Mommy said we’re going to have a big cake tomorrow!” She sounded excited.
“Thank you, honey. I can’t wait. I love you. See you tomorrow.”
He felt a hint of sadness when they hung up. He was almost ready to pack it in when his phone rang again.
It was security. “Hello, Mr. Kaine. I’m sending, uh, Patricia Weinright up.”
“Thank you.” He sighed and put down the phone. He was thinking about splashing some brandy into his coffee mug so that he could get through the interview without wringing the woman’s neck when she walked in.
He almost groaned out loud when he saw her. He knew right away that she was an odd one. She was dressed head to toe in a buttoned up trench coat and the only thing he could see of her face was bright red lipstick, because she was wearing a strange black hat with netting half down her face and oversized sunglasses. This was going to be a disaster.
He had to play along with the charade of an interview even though he knew he’d never hire such a kook. “Have a seat Ms. Weinright.”
“It’s Wainwright.” Her voice was unnaturally deep and breathy. Instead of sitting, she walked over to the blinds on the glass windows open to the office and closed them. “I prefer privacy.”
Her voice was so ridiculous; she had some kind of accent so strange that he thought she must be putting him on. “Everyone has already left for the evening, so we’ll have privacy. I expected you about an hour ago?”
She sat across from him. “Sometimes I am not so punctual. It’s a very bad habit. I need some discipline.”
“I see.” He frowned. He desperately wanted that brandy now. “Can you tell me a little bit about your previous work experience?”
She folded her hands on her lap. “Ya. I worked for my old boss. Very, very strict. So many rules. I must be very obedient or I’m fired.”
He tried not to stare at her strange hat. It had a purple silk flower affixed to the right side that bounced with her slightest move. “This is a very busy office. This position holds a lot of responsibility. Why do you think you’re qualified for the job?”
“I am very qualified. Too qualified.” She stood up and tugged at the collar of her jacket. “Does it seem to be very hot in here? Yes?”
“Ms. Wainwright, I’m not sure-”
She put up her hand. “Portia. You can call me Portia.”
Something about her niggled at the back of his mind. Had he met her before? No, he’d definitely remember someone this strange.
“Yes, it is very, very hot in here.” She fanned her face with her hand. “I am so hot and bothered right now.”
“Uh, Portia. This is –” He couldn’t finish his thought because she began taking off her trench coat. In a very seductive manner.
He stood up in a panic. “I don’t think this is going to…”
In one motion, she whipped off her trench coat and stood before him stark naked. His mouth dropped open, but he knew in an instant it was Lilliana.
Relief washed through him followed swiftly by happiness at seeing her and then almost immediately his cock responded.
“Maybe you can do a little test…to check my qualifications?”
He stepped around the desk and pulled off her hat. “My wife wouldn’t be very pleased about this.”
She pouted. “Would she mind if I gave you a little birthday present?”
He tugged at his tie to loosen it. “No. I don’t think she’d mind at all.”
Later, when most of Portia’s red lipstick was now around his cock and they had both been thoroughly satisfied, he smiled at his wife. “We broke the rules.”
She snuggled in his lap. “And it was glorious.”
He couldn’t believe how much he loved this woman. “Yes, Portia’s a bit frisky. But she has terrible fashion sense.”
Lilliana giggled. “You should have seen your face when I walked in.”
He shook his head. “I can imagine. How about we go home and see what other tricks Portia has up her sleeves?”
She answered in the weird accent. “So many. So very, very many. Just you wait.” She switched back to her reg
ular voice. “But we better go now. Becca’s dropping off Mia at 10AM tomorrow.”
They stood up and he picked up the trench coat for her. “You’re really going to walk out of here in this thing?”
She shrugged. “Either that or I go naked.”
“Put on the coat.”
She slipped on her coat and then picked up her oversized purse off the floor. “Oh wait. I almost forgot to give you your present.”
“I thought I just got my present.”
She pulled a small rectangular box wrapped in silver paper from her purse and handed it to him. “Open it.”
Grinning, he tore open the box. Inside was a white plastic stick with a…
“Is this what I think it is?”
Lilliana was smiling ear to ear. “It’s a pregnancy test. And it’s positive! Happy birthday, Jason Kaine.”
He felt a lump in his throat. “I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
THE END
Author’s Note
Whew! I hope you all enjoyed Lily and Jason’s journey – I definitely had a blast writing it. Lilliana’s character was written in homage to all my fellow insatiable romance readers. Billionaire romance is one of my favorite romance genres, but I wanted this one to be different. My main goal for this story was to make it fun - not wicked sexy, super emotional or moral storytelling – but just plain FUN to read. I hope I was able to brighten your day for a short while!
If you enjoyed this book, please consider leaving a review – even if it’s only a few words. I do not have a street team; I rely on organic reviews written by readers like you. A sizzling stepbrother romance with a twist (flip the pages to read an excerpt from the best-selling novel):
My Stepbrother the Dom
For years, I had the worst crush on my stepbrother, Cole Hunter. We used to ride bikes, skateboard and go fishing together - now I couldn’t even be in the same room as him without my pulse racing. I avoided Cole for years, until one wild night, when my best friend took me to a club. I thought I was going to see a grunge band, but it turned out to be a much kinkier kind of club. A club where anything goes, and well, things got a little crazy. Make that a lot crazy.
No one would ever know what I’d done, right?
Then I discovered who the man behind the mask really was…

My Stepbrother the Dom (Excerpt)
Chapter 1
AVA
/> “So, have you seen your brother since you’ve been back home?”
“Cole?” I squirmed in my seat. I hated talking about Cole with Julie. She’d had a monumental crush on him ever since we were in the eighth grade and Cole was a junior in high school. Her crush hadn’t diminished at all in the ensuing eight years.
Julie playfully smacked my arm. “Of course, Cole! Do you have any other hot brothers that I don’t know about?”
I picked up my beer and took a quick sip, hoping Julie wouldn’t see the blush that was heating my cheeks. “Nope. Last time I saw him was at graduation.”
“Is he still as hot as ever?” Julie’s eyes widened with excitement.
If my freakishly unnatural reaction to him was any indication, I’d say he was looking even hotter than ever, but to Julie, I casually shrugged my shoulders. “He seems the same to me.”
Julie frowned and asked almost tentatively, “Does he have a girlfriend?”
Feigning disinterest, I took another sip of beer. “I don’t know. I don’t talk to him about that kind of stuff.”
“What do you talk to him about? What is he doing now?”
I knew Julie’s curiosity would never be sated when it came to Cole. She could talk about him all night. Frankly, I wasn’t in the mood.
