I knew that their reaction was mainly out of guilt. As much as I tried to explain it away, I felt the same way too. I knew back from high school that Paul drank more than he should. I had witnessed him being drunk on more than one occasion for no reason. Okay, so there shouldn´t be a reason to get drunk, but I recalled going to their house as a teen and seeing a couple of bottles of gin under his bed.
Not often and not every day, but the signs were there before we got married. Before we even considered having children, and I went along with it. Swept them under the carpet and now I had to pay the price.
