  ‘That’s very politically incorrect.’

‘It’s hot, that’s what it is.’

She smiled. Well, it was their first anniversary. ‘Now that you mention it …’ She ran her finger around the rim of her glass, leaned forward so that the gold cross between her breasts popped out to dangle enticingly in front of her cleavage. Almost purred when her husband-to-be couldn’t for the life of him resist looking. ‘I’ve always had this boss-secretary fantasy. Let’s put it down to all the pent-up frustrations working as an office assistant for ten years. People just do such stupid things, you know. Someone has to instil some discipline.’

‘So,’ he said slowly, dragging his gaze up to meet hers again. ‘Are you telling me you’ve misplaced my important files again?’

‘Oh.’ She smiled, her turn to play the cat who got the cream. ‘I’m sorry, I’ve given you the wrong impression. They’re my important files. And I’m afraid you’ve had a terrible day at the office. Misplaced files are the least of your worries.’

He laughed outright, leaned across the small table, and kissed her fully on her lips. ‘We’ll do it your way. First time.’

Hand in hand, they left the hotel bar, heading across a totally different lobby, towards a totally different lift, to spend the night in a totally different penthouse suite. And then, as they both looked across to where the corridor where Andrew was shot used to be, he pulled up sharply, leaned down to whisper in her ear. ‘What do you reckon our chances of breaking into the linen room are?’

  No Place Like You

  Marnie St Clair

She went from having everything to having nothing—except what she really needed.

Heiress Lily Schofield never had to think about money, until suddenly she no longer has any. Left destitute by her father’s shady dealings, Lily has only one place to go: Mirabook, her mother’s country estate and the place she spent every childhood summer running wild with the station manager’s son, Josh. Until that last time, ten years ago, when everything went horribly wrong.

Strong, reliable and definitely country, Josh Farrell may have worshipped and adored his summer friend, but that was before he found out what she and her family were really like. Mirabook has stood empty for a decade, and Josh has been waiting a long time for the chance to turn the tables and make Mirabook his own.

But now Lily is back in town, looking to make the move permanent, and all Josh can see is the truckload of unfinished business she brought with her…

  Black Mountain

  Kate Loveday

An adventure set in the Australian rainforest, where the race is on to discover a precious plant—and an even rarer kind of attraction.

Elly Cooper’s friend Jackson has gone missing—along with a journal that contains her dead father’s lifelong work and the recipe for a product he described as the ‘fountain of youth’, potentially worth millions.

But the main ingredient is a rare plant found only in the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland. And only her father knew where to find it.

Elly enlists the aid of ex-policeman Mitchell Beaumont to help her find Jackson, the journal and the plant. But someone else is on the trail of the precious plant, and it seems they’ll stop at nothing—even murder—to get what they want.

It’s a race against time in the tropical heat as Elly and Mitchell battle the perils of the rainforest—and the feelings growing between them.

  Next To You

  Sandra Antonelli

A witty, quirky and unexpectedly moving story about cinema, secrets and a complicated love affair.

A love of ‘70s bubblegum pop music isn’t the only unusual thing about William Murphy—being a six-foot-three albino also makes a guy stand out. Will’s life is simple and he likes it that way. But when he meets his new next-door neighbour, complicated begins to look rather attractive.

Caroline’s trying to put her past behind her and grab life by the balls, which means finding new friends besides her dog, Batman. Will offers her neighbourly friendship, and as they bond over old movies, Caroline regains her confidence and unexpected love blooms.

But real life’s not like the movies, and their cute romantic comedy goes all Fatal Attraction when her vengeful ex shows up. Will learns that nothing about Caroline is quite the way it looks, and his simple life turns more complicated than he could ever imagine.

  Evan And Darcy

  Melanie Coles

Jane Austen gets a little dusty in this outback retelling of a beloved story about a man who learns that first impressions can be wrong when you’re looking for Ms Right.

Wheat farmer Evan Bennet is happy being single until his brother falls for the new girl in town, wealthy hotel owner Claire Bingley. Suddenly finding a girl seems more appealing…unless you’re talking about Claire’s best friend, pretentious lawyer Darcy Fitzwilliam. Her cold manners have Evan seeing red, and when a cute girl with links to Darcy’s past catches his eye, he’s even more determined to dislike her.

When a startling revelation turns Evan’s world upside down and he unexpectedly crosses Darcy’s path again, he’s forced to reassess his opinion of her. But just as he starts to open his heart, a crisis engulfs his family, threatening to destroy any hope of a future with Darcy.

With a cloud hanging over his family, Evan knows his chance of winning Darcy’s heart is gone… until some surprising news and a generous gift leave him wondering if her heart might be his after all.
