“Just say yes, Susannah,” Adam called from the other side of the door.

  She huffed indignantly.

Riley grinned. “I guess we have an audience.”

  “I guess so.”

His hands went to her waist, easing her against his hard length. “I need to kiss you, Mrs. Holt, but I won’t until you’re sure.”

What would her life be without him? She would live it, she knew, but it would be lacking. The love she’d wanted for so long shone fiercely in his eyes, poured down on her. “And we’ll go back to Texas? That’s where I want to be.”

“Absolutely.” He lifted her hands and brushed his lips across her knuckles, the stubble of his whiskers tickling her.

“I love you, Riley,” she whispered. “Kiss me.”

  “You’re sure?” he teased.

She slid her arms around him. “Never more sure.”

“I’d be obliged.” He covered her mouth with his, tasting of peppermint and sweet desire.

Maybe her brother’s heavy-handed attempt at matchmaking hadn’t been such a bad idea.
