  MA: “Beats the out of me. It’s not like anyone is trying too hard anymore. H@#@, if we even get a tiny sliver of her success, we are golden.”

  MC: “You think we can do it?”

  MA: “Oh, we can TRY, but whether we sell any books and make something fans like is a whole other question.”

 

  MA: “So, I’ve been thinking about our earlier conversation.”

  MC: “Which one? We’ve had ten.”

  MA: “The one where we do something to compete with JK Rowling. We might as well go big or go home, right?”

 

  MC: “SURE!”

  MA: “Ok, so we are taking that conversation from a while back about School of Necessary Magic, and we are switching it this way…”

 

  MC: “Done?”

  MA: “Done!”

  MC: “Ok, so…who’s doing beats…”

  MA: “This is Young Adult. That’s not my area. I cuss too much.”

 

  MC: “You .”

  And that is how Martha became the main driver for The School of Necessary Magic. Mind you, I’m not sure if this is actually how it went down, but I like to think this is taken from real life. Important details may have been changed because I don’t freaking remember them all.’

  Alison is one fun character, and I’m glad you like her!
