I'll Be Good to You

“I wanna tell you baby, the changes I’ve been going through, missing you. Till you come back to me. I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

The crowd is losing their minds over his singing. Women are actually crying as they stand to their feet, hands waving in the air wildly. Men are smirking while telling him to sing.

“Don’t you remember you told me you love me, baby. You said you’ll be coming back this way again.”

Nas at his side is nodding his approval while the two female presenters look as if they are debating fucking Johnny on the stage in front of millions.

Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh Tia, Baby...I love you. I really do,” he sings in his soulful, honey voice. With a nod, “Thank You,” he finishes before he walks away with a standing ovation.

“Tia, where are you, gurl? Whatever happened, after all of that… He sung Luther’s Superstar, for Christ sakes,” the host cries.

“I need to get ready,” I announce.

  CHAPTER ELEVEN

  JOHNNY

My heart is heavy. I went through the rest of the awards show praying, hoping for Tia to appear, but nothing. She didn’t even text or call me. Of course, she might not have caught my speech, but I know Ryann or someone had to have shown her by now.

“I’m doing this press, then I’m leaving,” I inform Chana while we’re led to a large open room with many interviewing stations. I stroll by a few celebrities that are sharing their excitement of winning. A few stop to pat me on the shoulder as they tell me not to give up on love.

“When he’s done, it will be your turn, Mr. Thicke.”

I nod while I plaster my shoulder to the wall to wait. A chill runs up my spine. A heat that I haven’t felt in a while tickles the hairs on the back of my neck. Slowly, I turn. My world stops. Widen eyed, I root myself in place to keep from falling on my ass. Chana turns worried to figure what’s come over me. It doesn’t matter that the room is filled. I only see the slow approach of one woman. I’m dumbstruck by the effortless, amazing grace and stunning beauty of Tia. My greedy eyes eat up every inch of her from her hair to her firm breast, full hips, to her exposed shapely thigh to finish at the tips of her shoes, only to start the process, again.

My heart contracts. I know she’s coming, but she’s not moving fast enough for me. I need to hold her, touch her, kiss her to prove to myself that this isn’t a dream. I hope Chana caught the trophies I push on her to free up my hands. My long strives weave me through the people. In no time, I’m towering over Tia. Taking a deep breath, I inhale her scent as I fight to control the beating of my heart.

“Tia,” I whisper in a gravelly voice.

I raise my hand to touch her, then pull back. I’m unsure of what I should do. Suddenly the lack of noise and movement registers. A quick glance over her head shows me that all eyes, cell phones, lights, and camera are focused on us.

“I came for the rest of the concert.”

Her comment causes me to lock gazes with her again. I open my mouth, then she moves.

“I was hoping for a private concert,” she adds.

I close my mouth. I freeze as her hand gravitates towards my face. I can’t stop my eyes from going hooded as I turn my face to fit in the cup of her hand.

“I, I think I love you,” she whispers on a broken breath.

I have no words to respond. My hand snakes around her waist to pull Tia in my embrace. I marvel over how perfect she fits at my side as if it was my rib that was taken to create her with the dust and clay of the earth. All I know is that I’ll never forget the way she tastes or the way she makes me feel as I pour my soul into this kiss. In my mind, I find myself praying that it will brand her, bind her to me forever.

“I left the ring at home, but will you marry me?” I pant against her parted lips.

I don’t blink as I read her face. There’s no fear in the depths of her eyes.

“First the ring, then you’ll get my, yes.”

The smile that creeps on my face is damn near cracking it. Tossing back my head, I laugh. Without a wave goodbye, I began to drag Tia from the room with the sounds of cheers at our backs. I’m already setting the date for the wedding two months from today. Our first child will be conceived on our honeymoon. Finally, the man that’s claimed to have it all actually does have it all.

  THE END

  Hello Readers!

I had so much fun writing this book to the point that it wrote itself. My love for the classic R&B was the soundtrack and my love for Jon B…and a bit of Robin Thicke did the rest. Of course, I had to tat up my version of the singer and make him a bad boy with a big heart. In this book, I touched on a lot of issues. Keeping toxic people around just because they are blood or because you share a history. The fact that it’s alright to move on from people that refuse to grow, yet they want to leech off your success or talents. It’s alright to seek professional or spiritual help to heal to ensure you are ready for the future, and also, the struggles many people are facing when dealing with their sexuality.

I think I can list out more things, but seeing how you just read the book, I’m sure you got the little messages of hope, strength, and love that I laced into the lives of these characters.

As always, thank you for all the support, leaving a review, for sharing the link, telling your friends, and for just being the awesome readers that you are. Most of all, THANK YOU for enjoying what I so love to do, which is creating one love story at a time. SO, what’s next? I think it’s time for the New York Detective, Kegan McCormac and his now wife, Moneà to entertain us for the rest of 2019.
