“Doctor, I’m scared perhaps she should remain in an intensive care”, requested Mrs. Babera.
“If you so desire but that won’t make her any better”, replied Dr. Nic. “you see Mrs. Babera! I think Jenny’s suffering is a sense of hopelessness which is a reaction of the great love she must have lost in her dad’s death! To make matter worse was horrible way she lost this great love!”
“Mrs. Babera!” says Dr. Nic. “The former is your responsibility to prove to her that no love is lost in your family. As a matter of fact, you’ve got to express your motherly love to her like the baby she was once! Then leave the latter for me to handle professionally.”
“I shall do as you say doctor”, replied Mrs. Babera.
“You can book your daughter’s therapy appointment with my secretary in your way out”, said Dr. Nic.
“Thank you once more doctor!” says Mrs. Babera. “I’m indeed very grateful”.
All this time that Dr. Nic and Mrs. Babera were talking, poor Jenny was just there, like she was in another world.
When the family got home Mrs. Babera quickly called a handy man to fix Jenny’s broken door. Then after, Mrs. Babera packed in her luggage to live with her daughter. Like lesbian, she began sleeping in the same bed with Jenny and bathing with her also. She will never let Jenny off her sight. If Mrs. Babera must go out she goes with Jenny. From now on, Mrs. Babera and her daughter Jenny have become like soul mates!
But Jenny never resisted her mother’s intimate actions. She doesn’t care whether she should like it or not. She just kept all things to herself and played the robot.
Somehow though, Jenny Must be touched affectionately deep within by her mother’s intimacy towards her. She must have some piercing love; she must have felt her mother’s love. But the only way she could express what she feels inside was her tearing eyes always!
Nonetheless, Mrs. Babera never cares to understand if what she was doing is good or bad or Jenny should like it or not. All she is ever concerned about is to save Jenny’s life at all cost!
“By Monday, Jenny’s therapy with Dr. Nic will begin”, Mrs. Babera thought. “And I shall wait for her each day for an hour. I just hope my Jenny can come around!”
So by Monday morning, Jenny’s therapy section began.
“Today, I’m going to enlighten you on a topic I tagged accident and responsibility”, said Dr. Nic. “The issue of accident and responsibility can be trace from one’s pre-conception to conception and growing up.”
“With regards to your pre-conception, your parents compatibly match-up themselves in love. They fortified their union intellectually and economically in order to create an enabling family environment, not just for themselves, but for you to develop some day into a responsible adult!”
“With regards to your conception, your parents did well to see that you are very much alive, healthy and beautiful.”
“And for your growing up, your parents have done so much to adequately cater for your needs and necessities!”
“Now suddenly, an accident from nowhere has occurred, killing a member of your beautiful family. It takes responsibility to be both human and supportive.”
“As human the death of your dad hurts every members of your family. Perhaps, you might think it hurts you the most, but the truth is that it hurts all equally yet differently. Your mom and your grandparents are hurt equally as you are. You are hurt as a teenager. They are hurt as adults. More still, your mother is hurt as a widow”.
“In times like this, supporting one another can really help to lighten up one another burden and grief. This is the responsible thing to do than to allow yourself to be locked in the same grief which your family all share. Destroying yourself will also mean destroying the others that share your grief. This becomes a cycle of destruction among the members of your family that shares your grief. Imagine if you should destroy yourself in your grief, believe you me, your mother and grand-parents cannot recover. Please don’t wipe out your family’s future, be responsible!”
“Share your mother’s own grief as she shares yours! Share your grand-parents’ own grieves as they share yours too! Be responsible in one another and you would see that your grief will go away, believe you me!”
After Jenny’s first therapy section with Dr. Nic was ever, she quickly starts making true changes in her life. Mrs. Babera was outside waiting for her daughter Jenny. Jenny came to her, and for the first time in a long time, embraced her mother with an overwhelming passion and affection! And Mrs. Babera responded with an overwhelming tenderness as well!
The first week of Jenny’s therapy section proves very successful. Dr. Nic continues to educate and enlighten her more about shared responsibilities and it imparts on human challenges including accidental challenges. Jenny reacted positively to it, she greatly improve her relationship with her mother and grand-parents.
But she is kind of building her world only at home. She is now getting herself more attached to her mother and grand-parents. And she treats the outside world like it shouldn’t exist. Like a bad omen, she is beginning to see the outside world as a statue of vices, which stands to invade the Joys, love and happiness of every home!
“Jenny”, her mother called.” Can we go out?”
“Mom!” Jenny replied. “I hate to go out not now not ever”.
“But Jenny we got to do some shopping for your outfit at your dad’s funeral”, replied Mrs. Babera.
“No mom!” said Jenny. “Anything is fine by me.”
“Oh! No Jenny!” replied Mrs. Babera. “You can’t be serious?”
“Okay mom! You can go out”, replied Jenny. “But I should be home with grandpa and grandma.”
“Jenny! This isn’t funny”, said Mrs. Babera with a sense of being worried. “Your grandpa and grandma don’t have any problem of taking good care of each other. But you need to take care of yourself now. Going out with your mother will help you realize yourself better, can’t you see?”
“Mom, don’t be perturb”, said Jenny. “I just hate the world outside, I hate the world for taking dad, mom!”
With these words coming at of Jenny’s mouth, her mother got terrified.
Chapter Three
Mrs. Babera is really worried to death about her daughter’s recent problem.
“Gosh! This can’t be happening to my daughter”, she thought to herself. “I must let Dr. Nic know about this.”
Then she called Dr. Nic’s secretary Mrs. Kimberly.
Greennh! Greennh!! Greennh!!!
“Hello! It’s Mrs. Kimberly on the line.”
“Hi! I am Mrs. Babera – Jenny’s mother.”
“What can I do for you Mrs. Babera”, asked Mrs. Kimberly. “You and Jenny were here this morning. Is she alright?”
“She is alright though”, replied Mrs. Babera. “Can you put me through to Dr. Nic? She requested. I’m worried about Jenny’s recent attitude and I would like to discuss it with him.”
“Okay! Mrs. Babera just a minute please.”
Then after speaking briefly with her boss, she put Mrs. Babera through to him.
Hello! Mrs. Babera. How is Jenny that you want to talk to me so urgently about?” asked Dr. Nic.
“Gosh!” Mrs. Babera exclaimed. “I’m afraid that my daughter has developed a very disturbing phobia about the outside world.”
“I don’t understand what you mean. Can you be more specific”, asked Dr. Nic.
“I mean she has locked up herself from the outside world. I think this is pretty serious!” replied Mrs. Babera. “She hates to go out, she said: ‘I hate the world outside for taking dad out of our lives!’ Isn’t that pretty serious doctor?”
“Mrs. Babera you are right!” replied Dr. Nic. “I appreciate your telling me this but I assure you that your daughter is quite recovering. That of course you know, don’t you?”
“Nonetheless, your daughter may still be holding her grudge on something. That is why this information of yours is very vital to me. At least we no
w know what she may be holding her grudge on”, Said Dr. Nic.
“Thank you doctor! You are my daughter’s healer. And I believe in your great work”, replied Mrs. Babera.
The following week Dr. Nic encounters Jenny differently on her therapy;
“Jenny! Your mom and I and everyone concerned about you are indeed very pleased with your recovery so far! And I want to believe that you can also see that for yourself, isn’t it?” asked Dr. Nic
“Thanks doctor! You are very correct”, replied Jenny.
“Jenny! What do you think about the outside world before now, please be honest with me?” asked Dr. Nic
“I used to think that the outside world was a place to be, and to explore when I’m grown up!” replied Jenny.
“And what do you think about the outside world now?” asked Dr. Nic.
“Now, I’ve realize how false the outside world was. It’s one big evil in disguise which shouldn’t exist!” replied Jenny.
“Behold! Your opinion about the outside world in the past was very promising and healthy”, said Dr. Nic. “But your opinion presently, I’m afraid, is very unhealthy, bias and immature.”
“You cannot live with such an ideal about the outside world girl! Don’t put your promising life to an early end even before it begins!” warned Dr. Nic. “Shutting your life from the outside world because you are afraid of its evils, not because you find your life’s treasures and destiny off it, will only bring you self-destruction!”
“What I’m trying to say Jenny”, said Dr. Nic with a straight forward look at her. “Is that though your two opinions may be realistic but the latter is very immature. There are two things you must know about immaturity today. Jenny!”
“First is the application of the word: ‘Love your enemies’ and secondly, are the distinctions of the ‘world and humanity’.”
By now, Jenny was very focus and serious to know what Dr. Nic had to say. She knew her attitude was wrong but she cannot help it under her present condition. Yet she wants to overcome it!
Then suddenly Dr. Nic said, “Jenny! It’s time up. We shall continue with this discussion tomorrow”.
For the first time, Jenny sadly and reluctantly left Dr. Nic Office. She felt like there was no tomorrow. If tomorrow does not come, she would just be stuck in her wrongs of to days!
When Jenny got home with her mother, she remained her recovery self. But Dr. Nic has fire her up with curiosity and yearning for a much better life. She believes that he has the answers to unlock her seemingly shut-down mind. She wants to see life in a mature way than she never had!
“Mom!” Jenny called out to her mom. “I’m sorry for all the pains I must have put you through. Everything will be fine and we can have our lives back when this is over”, said Jenny.
“Oh Jenny!” replied her mother. “You are most sweet. I’m very proud of you. I believe in you my dear daughter!”
Now, Jenny embraces her mother and her mother embraces her also. Their emotions and affections connected magnetically. And their future was assured in each other like never before! After a while, Jenny brought up a stunning idea of changing environment to her mother.
“Mom! I wish we could change place. Move to a new state and start our lives happily anew”, said Jenny.
“Yes! You are right, Jenny!” replied Mrs. Babera. “Let’s say after your father’s funeral, I shall sell this house then we shall move to California.”
Then Mrs. Babera went on to make a joke on Jenny’s idea by saying: “Oh babe! You still my intelligent Jenny. Changing environment is perfect for you and me”.
With a touch of smile and sense of appreciation, Jenny concluded: “California! It shall be for you and I, mom in the fall”.
The following morning the thought of Dr. Nic woke Jenny up from sleep. Her heart and mind yearns and burns with curiosity about today’s therapy. By this time, she had already earned the right to her own privacy but her mother has always made it an habit to check on her each morning.
“Good morning Jenny!” said Mrs. Babera.
“Good morning mom!” replied Jenny.
“Mom!” said Jenny. “I’ve been thinking”.
“What could you be thinking this early morning order than your day with Dr. Nic”, replied Mrs. Babera.
“You’re right mom for he’s such a professional”, said Jenny. “But how did he became my doctor, mom!?”
“It was Dr. Greg who recommended him to grandpa for your medical needs”, replied Mrs. Babera. “Dr. Greg attended to us shortly after the accident. He was also very good and professional like Dr. Nic.”
“Then we have to invite them both at dad’s funeral”, said Jenny. “That way, of course, we shall specially thank them both for all their professional supports given to us”.
“You are right Baby” as Mrs. Babera embraces Jenny. “Do you still remember those two men who saved our lives in the accident?”
“Mom, whoa!” Jenny exclaim with surprise. “Those men save our lives after all. And they tried all they could to save dad’s life, poor dad!”
“It’s okay Jenny”, replied Mrs. Babera. “Mr. Jeff and Mr. Jacob wish to honor dad by attending the funeral”.
“That is so sweet of them mom.”
“Okay! Jenny, you got to tidy your room and yourself while I do same“, said Mrs. Babera. “When you finish you join me in the kitchen. So after the regular morning domestic activities Jenny and her mother set off to the hospital of Dr. Nic.
Then at last Jenny therapy section with Dr. Nic begins at the usual 9am – 10am.
“Jenny!” said Dr. Nic. “You look radiant today like never before. What is the secret if I, may ask?”
“I guess, I’m improving day by day, thanks to your magic”, replied Jenny.
“My mom and I have decided to move to California after dad’s funeral”, said Jenny.
“Whoa! That is good spirit move”, replied Dr. Nic. “And who must have initiated the idea to move if I may asked?”
“I did”, replied Jenny. “I think it does gonna be a new beginning for me and for my mom.”
“Very well spoken Jenny”, replied Dr. Nic. “A new beginning is what you need. New environment inspires new personality; environment makes people as people make environment. Hence today’s therapy section will be very helpful for your new personality.”
“With regards to our new line of discussion – the world and humanity, it’s important to know how and when to apply the word: ‘love your enemies’. To love your enemies is best apply as being harmless to both the world and humanity. This is also a moral responsibility because if we hurt the world we hurt people, and if we hurt humanity we also hurt people”, Dr. Nic continued.
“The world suffers a repelling force of nature which tends to make it self-destructive. This self-destructiveness of the world always has direct effect on human advancement”, said Dr. Nic.
“Let me make some few examples to buttress this relevance to you Jenny“, Dr. Nic continued. “This first example is fossil fuel and global warming. Fossil fuel promotes the advancement of humanity. But global warming is a direct scare to the promotion of fossil fuel in the advancement of humanity.”
“Humanity had been in great need for energy before the discovery of fossil fuel. Humanity had need for energy for the transport and manufacturing industries. After the discovery of fossil fuel, these advancements have overwhelmingly improved our humanism over the past generations. But today, humanity is faced with the grim effect of fossil fuel to our poor world. Global warming is real, and fossil fuel stands it course. Such is the distinction between humanity and the world. Major human advancement has been plaque with a repelling force of nature which constitutes the world.”
It is also striking to note that people often constitute the world in this fashion. The transformation of people to meet the advancement of humanity is a constant struggle from generations to generations”, said Dr. Nic.
“Another example is the machinery and accidents”, Dr. Ni
c continued. “Machinery promotes the advancement of humanity. But the corresponding accidental causations, which may be deadly, are the world’s response. In other words, technology in all its forms, whether big and complex or small and simple, have all improves humanity advance. But accidents are the repelling forces of natures which the world poses to these beautiful technologies.”
“Now, there is the need to possess a new cultural sense of maturity and responsibility. This is called safety. Safety is the culture of saving humanity at one-end and to humanly protect the self destructiveness of the world as much as we can, collectively and personally. For to save humanity is to protect the world and to protect the world is to save humanity said Dr. Nic.
Then Dr. Nic stared sternly into the eyes of poor Jenny and said: “what about you Jenny? Does this mean anything to you girl?”
But Jenny was confused and speechless. So Dr. Nic tried to make her understand directly!
“Baby you have what humanity craves for. These are the assets of your beautiful and responsible mind and heart. But the world wants to take them away. Don’t let them! It’s up to you Jenny!”
After dad’s funeral Mrs. Babera sold the family house in Florida. She had to sell it in order for her and Jenny to move over to California. Soon after she sold the house, they move to California. While Jenny’s grandparents move back to Texas.
Mrs. Babera housing agent had spotted the choice of house for her. They find this new house in San-Francisco and Jenny just loved it.
The house is situated nicely just at the outskirt of the main city. There are five same houses in that neighborhood. There is a beautiful garden surrounding each house at the background. There is also a beautiful front passage leading to each of the houses. Each house has its own garage too.
