The Trap
Page 10
Where do you go to find peace and quiet?
I have a beautiful cabin on a river about a hundred miles north of where I live outside Anchorage, Alaska. The cabin is in a neat little town called Talkeetna. Whenever I’m pretty much finished writing a book, I print the whole thing, bind it, and take it to the cabin for several days of editing and relaxing in the local cafes.
What are you most afraid of?
I know this sounds bad for a grown man to say, but I fear loneliness the most. I don’t know why, but I don’t like to be alone too long.
Which of your characters is most like you?
I am Johnny from The Trap. Notice my name is John. I created him from my own life experiences.
What is your favorite TV show?
I’ve always loved M*A*S*H. It just makes me happy.
If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you take for company?
This is easy: my wife. She’s my best friend.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
I get this question all the time, and people expect me to name one of my thirty books. But the truth is, I’m most proud of my family; of having been a good father and husband.
Who is your favorite singer?
Elvis Presley. His first name is tattooed on my right shoulder.
