Welshman's Bride

Page 22

by Bancroft, Blair

“Hush!” Rhys was off the chair, clasping me in his arms, holding me tight. “I was blind, Joss. Abominably slow to see how serious things were. I could not believe anyone at Glyn Eirian would wish you harm.”

We clung together in silence until I managed, “Time to wipe the slate clean and start again.” I lifted my head to meet his gaze, stripping away all doubts and defenses to allow my love to shine through. “But perhaps the rest of our challenges can wait until morning?”

“And so they can.” Rhys chuckled before reaching for his cravat and making short work of becoming naked as a jaybird.

I am happy to say that the day ended infinitely better than it began.

  1Special Note:

The Eisteddford, a celebration of Welsh poetry and music, is an ancient tradition. First begun by Rhys ap Gruffydd in 1176, it did not have clear sailing through the centuries. Put down by both the English government and the church (Nonconformists as well as Church of England), it had faded into obscurity until revived in Corwen in 1789. (Amazingly, there was even an Eisteddford at Primrose Hill in London in 1792.) Druids did not enter into the celebration until 1819, but they seem to have helped the Eisteddfod cling to life until it was finally organized on a national scale in 1860. With the occasional exception of some years during World Wars I and II, the Eisteddford has been an annual event ever since, and has become famous throughout the world for its support of the literature and music of Wales.

  About the Author:

Believing variety is the spice of life, I also write Regency historicals, lighter Regencies in the Jane Austen tradition, as well as Romantic Suspense and Mystery (please see the list below). I will shortly be adding SyFy, as Rebel Princess, Book 1 of my Futuristic/Paranormal series, Blue Moon Rising, will be published by Kindle Scout in the near future.

The Golden Beach (GB) books are not a classic series. Some have connected characters; others, only a connected setting, a very real Florida Gulf Coast resort and retirement community whose name has been changed because the residents would like to keep its uniqueness a deep, dark secret.
