Alien Shifter Force: A SciFi Alien Shifter Romance

He sighed. Now that the enemy was defeated, they would need to work out a way for Zalon to fix the ship. Kate was headstrong and fierce—he wasn’t looking forward to discussing their future. Would she agree to accompany him back to Dreon? He had accepted that theirs might not be a traditional union, but he had assumed up to that point that they would have a union. What if…
“Redon?”
He looked down at her. Her eyebrows were raised, as if she knew his mind was racing in circles. He shook his head. They would find a way, he thought dreamily. They’d work something out. The high commander would be pleased to find out his elite force hadn’t perished in the crash—if it was any other planet, he might have been allowed to stay. But this was different. This was earth—the planet the prophecies had foretold. Redon couldn’t help but assume that he’d be ordered away immediately, lest he in some way damage the precious gift that was the key to his people’s future.
“What you thinking?” Kate smiled.
He shook his head. “Nothing. Later. Find Aron.”
She nodded and accompanied him back onto the ship. Inside, Redon and the others found new spacesuits from the vast supply in the cargo hold. He was pleased to see that the injured crew members were beginning to recover.
More surprising was the news that Zalon and Aron hadn’t yet returned. He frowned and shook his head. Timon had no further information—of course he knew they had agreed not to make contact with the ship because of the risk of the signal being tracked by the enemies. But now all was safe. Too bad Zalon was the only one who might have been able to restore the communications lines.
Sighing, he left the hold and went to the engineering room in search of one of Zalon’s technicians. Well—Zalon’s one technician. The other one had been killed by the impact.
Redon gritted his teeth and remembered the fierce orange glow of the blaze. He had expected revenge to feel better, but all he could think of was the fallen.
Kate caught up with him just as he was about to enter the engineering room. He knew it wasn’t the right time to have this conversation when there was so much to be done, but he couldn’t help it.
“Kate,” he said gravely, grabbing both her hands.
“Redon?” she whispered. How he loved her soft voice and plump lips. In a way, he wished they’d veered off from the others and purposely isolated themselves from the rest of civilization forever. She was all he wanted or needed. She made his heart soar in the way he had expected getting vengeance would. And his cock throbbed with need whenever he was near her, no matter how much time they spent together.
He smiled down at her. “Dreon mate for lifetime,” he said hesitantly, wishing she could understand his native tongue—he’d have been able to explain it better then.
She nodded.
“Kate understand?” he frowned, hoping he had chosen his words correctly, which didn’t always happen.
She nodded again. “Yes. I understand.”
He sighed. “Redon home Dreon.”
Amusement flashed through her eyes.
“Kate home…”
She shrugged playfully and he groaned. He needed to know what she was thinking. Growling, he placed both hands around her waist and lifted her up.
She squealed. “Drop me.”
“Kate tell Redon…”
His ridges buzzed as they always did when he was nervous—or aroused. Now he was both. She still hadn’t answered his question.
She grinned and pulled their hands to her chest. “Kate see Redon cabin?” she said playfully.
He swallowed, suddenly overcome by desire and the need to feel her soft skin under his.
Chapter 24
Kate rolled over onto her side and traced her fingers over the ridges at Redon’s temples. They had stopped vibrating now and she wasn’t surprised—if she’d thought their first night of lovemaking was intense, it was nothing compared to what he had just done to her body. Now she knew the meaning of the phrase ‘mind-blowing sex’: up to that point, she had always thought of it as an exaggeration or a cliché that people felt the need to lie about.
Nuh-uh.
Her body was still tender and sensitive. She grinned and hugged herself. After facing near-certain doom, the thought of a life with Redon and his irresistible body seemed like a dream come true. In fact, she had to keep pinching herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. If Redon’s sexy habit of gently nipping her skin counted as pinching, then she’d been pinched a hell of a lot of times and she still hadn’t woken.
He stirred.
“Kate?” he whispered, voice hoarse from sleep.
She didn’t know how long they had slept for, but it was dark outside the ship now. “Yes. It’s Kate.”
“Kate,” he said, reaching his arm around her.
Kate moaned with pleasure as he pulled her close to him and held her against his chest.
“Redon?” she whispered.
“Yes?”
She smiled to herself. She’d been thinking about it constantly because she didn’t want to make a rash decision. There was no denying it—she wanted him, no matter where that might be.
“Life mate. Kate Dreon. Earth. Other planet. With Redon.”
From the way he squeezed her to him and gasped, she figured he had understood what she was trying to say. Just to make sure, she pulled herself away and stared up at his face. His golden eyes were shining in a way that she had never seen before. She smiled and stroked his cheek.
That was another thing she’d need to do, she thought. Learning Uniton had never been top of her priority list before, but things had changed. She couldn’t wait to learn Uniton or Dreon so they could communicate properly.
Outside of the bedroom, that it. Our communication methods in the bedroom are just fine.
“No more battle, Kate.”
She bit her lip. His face was deadly serious. Kate hesitated. On the one hand, the prospect of being pampered by her huge sexy alien filled her with excitement. But what was she seriously going to do all day? She couldn’t cook and she was only tidy because she was used to the regimented life of the force. Plus she couldn’t imagine life as a civilian when she had been a soldier for so long.
“Kate?” he growled.
She sighed. “Kate soldier. Always.”
His eyes glinted. “Yes. Redon protect Kate. Always.”
Then again, Commander Jessop had been about to arrest her for treason. So there was that. She sighed. She knew she’d need to approach the base and try to patch things up. She guessed that her role in defeating the alien invaders would earn her a pardon, if not a full reinstatement to her role. But was that what she wanted?
She sighed. Even if Athena and Aron had been back to help translate, it would be no help. She couldn’t get her thoughts in order. There was one thing she knew, though: she was sticking with Redon. They could iron out the details at a later stage. It didn’t matter what she did or where they lived or what he did. All that mattered was that they were together; them and whatever mini-Redons came their way in time. She smiled at the thought of a little version of herself with the power to shift into a fierce Drayon, or was that a power only male Dreon had? She hoped not. She could imagine her own daughter clearly now. A fierce little mix of her and Redon.
He was watching her intently.
“Redon?”
“Kate.”
“Female Dreon. Drayon?”
“Yes,” he said, without hesitation.
She smiled.
“Why Kate ask this?”
She shrugged, trying to plaster an innocent look on her face.
A smile spread slowly across his face as he realized what she’d been thinking. He lunged forward, picking her up as if she weighed nothing and rushing her back to his cabin. Her body tingled at the prospect of what was coming. She had never felt like that before; never known somebody who she couldn’t get enough of. She was hooked.
