A Key to Worlds: A Parallel Worlds Novel

by Mara Amberly

While Lauren and Evan looked around Katy’s dining room, Nessa walked back out to the portal, which swirled subtly in the morning air. Alright then, I need to close you.

There was no item to crush this time, so she reached out with her mind. She thought she felt the connection, like a string between herself, the portal and James’s world. She recognised the feeling in her mind of a portal being closed. How it felt when that connection was severed, so she tried to do it mentally. It only took her a moment, and the portal disappeared. She approached the place where it had been and waved her hand through the air, but it was gone.

She knew then that her skills with her unique gift had improved. Hopefully with study, they would grow further.

Katy was woken by the sound of her guests, and she descended the stairs in her silken dressing gown. She glanced curiously at Lauren and Evan, and then hurried out to the back door. “You did it, Nessa. Didn’t you? Oh my God, you did.”

Nessa grinned. “I did and life just got more interesting, in the most wonderful of ways.”
