Will
“I can’t wait to go back to your place,” she whispered in my ear.
I shoved some fries in my mouth and gave the girl a quick wink. I had no idea of her name or even how she came to be sitting next to me at the diner. I did know that we had all been at a metal club, had copious amounts of alcohol together and I was now a ravenous beast that needed to eat like my life depended on it. Other than that, the girl was nameless and I would have looked like a royal turd if I asked her in front of everybody.
I looked across the booth to Janey who also had a tagalong sitting next to her. I didn’t know his name either and I didn’t like him; he was hanging all over her, expecting to get lucky. I looked to Zac who was staring at him like he was something that had been found under his shoe. I couldn’t hold back a grin, happy that he felt the same way. This guy needed to go.
My nameless girl put her hand on my thigh and got even closer to me, making it very obvious that she was not interested in eating food. My eyes moved to Janey across the table to find her glaring at the girl trying to annoyingly sit on me.
Interesting.
She wanted my nameless girl to go too.
“Hey blondie, pass the salt please?” interrupted Janey, quite clearly close enough to get it herself. The girl turned to look at Janey across the table, not amused at the nickname. She shoved it over with her spare hand, while her other one started to grope me under the table. I cleared my throat and then took a sip of my drink. This girl sure had a firm grip on her. Janey glared at her and then at me, not even bothering to use the salt she had requested.
“Why do you want salt, babe? You’re not eating anything,” asked the guy next to her, his mouth full of a burger.
“I’m planning on doing tequila shots on your cock later.” The guy choked on his burger and quickly wiped a napkin over his mouth. It was my turn to glare at her. Over my dead body.
“We can go now if you like?” he said quietly to her.
“You look hungry, have some fries,” I said to Janey, pushing my plate across the table to her.
“You want me to eat your fries?” she asked, her eyes taunting me.
“Babe, I’ve got plenty of fries on my plate,” said the guy.
“She wants these ones,” I stated. The guy looked over, narrowing his eyes at me. Janey took some fries from my plate and popped them into her mouth. I couldn’t hide the triumph on my face.
Conversation went on around us as I stared at her across the table, wordlessly telling her all that I wanted. She returned my stare, chewing on my fries and wordlessly telling me what she wanted. Yes, we had both been drinking - yes, we may have even had a few lines of cocaine earlier on in the night, but we were both of sound mind. We were finally toying with the idea of giving in to our desires. I could see she wanted it as much as I did. It was in her every movement, in every glance, tonight and every other night before it. I could see the want she had for me in her eyes, especially after every time the guy next to her tried to say something funny and failed. We had been playing at being friends for too long; if we didn’t follow this through soon I was sure that we would both combust. I heard her guy say a joke at the table. No one laughed, least of all Janey. She was busy taking more of my fries and staring at me. I wanted to be inside her so much, it was getting painful. She was all I ever thought about and each day and night we spent together, I found her harder and harder to resist.
We wanted the same things in life.
Each other.
How long would it take for her to just let go and be with me?
We continued to stare at each other across the table, alone in our thoughts, together. We were oblivious to the others around us, watching and waiting for someone to make the first move. We were daring each other to jump and finally give in to the passionate torment we had been putting ourselves through. My need for her prickled over my skin; making me feel anxious and unsatisfied. I wasn’t known for my patience and this beautiful friend of mine had me spinning my wheels for too long. I no longer wanted to pretend that it was okay when she took up with some random guy at the end of the night. I no longer wanted to see her searching for happiness when I know she could have it with me. I wanted nothing more than to show her that life could be good, that I would be here to protect her and show her how to smile again.
She suddenly stood up and announced she was going to the restroom. She didn’t look at me as she left the table, leaving me with the decision to follow her. I watched her guy give her ass a squeeze as she left the table and I swiftly knocked my girl’s glass of lemonade over the table. Most of it ended up in the guy’s lap.
Score.
There was a slight commotion as I muttered an insincere apology while he quickly grabbed napkins to soak it all up. A waiter came over to see if we needed help while I stood up in the commotion and announced to no-one in particular that I needed to make a call. As I reached the restrooms, I barged my way through the door into the hallway. She was leaning against the wall, waiting for me. Joy spread through me, like the moment on Christmas morning when you get your first bike. I didn’t give her a chance to say anything before I was pushing up against her and setting my mouth over hers. She groaned into my mouth and grabbed onto me, returning everything I gave to her. I wanted her like my next breath, needed to be inside of her before I died. My hands went under her top, yanking her bra cups down so I could feel her handfuls of perfection. She moaned again as she kissed me hard, releasing months of pent up frustration and need. We had both had our share of one night stands over the last few months, but nothing would compare to this. Everything else did not exist because we wanted nothing more than each other. I kissed down her neck, biting it before I sucked a nipple into my mouth. Her body went soft as she groaned again, holding me to her, wanting more. My hands went to her ass and I lifted her up against the wall, taking a moment to enjoy the feel of her legs crossing behind me and squeezing.
“I want you so much,” I said, returning to her mouth and kissing her hard.
“Fuck me, Will,” she panted.
“Let me take you home; where we can do it properly,” I breathed heavily, as her fingers shoved down between us to my zipper.
“No, now. Here,” she panted. “I want you to fuck me.”
I knew she deserved more than just a fuck, especially in a hallway leading to the restrooms but as I took one look into her lust-driven eyes, I knew this was the only chance I would get. This was my one chance to be inside this beautiful girl that already had my heart.
“You deserve more than – ”
She covered my mouth with a searing kiss, stopping my words. “I want you now, Will. Just now. No regrets. No promises. Just right here, right now.”
“Janey,” I said, holding her face with my hand.
“Please,” she pleaded, almost desperately. “Just fuck me.”
Her pleading eyes and her heavy panting were my last coherent thoughts before my control snapped. I wanted her in any way I could have her. Regrets and promises be fucking damned. I moved her away from the wall, holding her against me as I walked down the hallway. I wouldn’t take her in the restroom so I searched for another spot, away from anyone coming to take a piss. She continued to kiss me, rubbing her pelvis against my throbbing cock as I searched for another door. I found a maintenance closet and yanked the door open. It was small, with some shelves and a mop bucket. It would have to do. I went in and closed the door behind me, pulling at the light above us that flickered on. I saw my lust mirrored in her own eyes just as she started to undo my zip.
The small closest was filled with our heavy breathing and impatience while we furiously tried to get our clothes out of the way. I let her legs down as I pulled my wallet out and got a condom out. She impatiently grabbed it off me and started to put it on my cock herself, the action making my brain shut down completely. I let her take control and tried to think of something else while she did it, knowing I was
going to lose myself respect in any moment. I hadn’t seen anything hotter and as she finished, I pulled at her lace underwear, ripping it in two. She suddenly laughed.
“I liked those!”
“I’ll buy you another pair,” I said into her mouth as I kissed her hard. She went to turn around, so I could take her from behind but I pulled her around to face me. Without a word, I pulled her up hard against me, making the shelves rattle at her back. She put her arms around my neck, holding on, knowing that she was going to have a seriously hard ride.
I kissed her again, her mouth attacking mine again as l lifted her onto my cock. She let out a long, drawn out groan as I filled her and I was in Heaven. I pushed her up against the shelves and drove into her. With each thrust she let out a little squeal, her legs tightening around me, her fingernails scratching my shoulders. I was finally in a place that I had been dreaming about. This one girl that had made me question my sanity and desires. This one girl that had toyed with me for so long that I had a constant itch I couldn’t scratch.
Now I was scratching this itch. As I thrust into her, hearing her cries of pleasure I knew that I wanted this itch forever. I drove in to her as I felt her body tense just before she climaxed. I went along with her, everything in me exploding into smithereens. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t speak, couldn’t fathom not having this girl again.
We stayed joined together, up against the wall, with my jeans around my ankles for a moment, trying to get our breathing back to normal. I belonged here, in her, with her legs wrapped around me. I had finally found home.
“We should get back out there,” she said against my neck.
“Let’s escape through the back and go somewhere and do that all over again,” I said.
“They’ll look for us.”
“I’ll tell the guys not to,” I said. “Let me take you somewhere.”
She slid herself out of my arms, making me wince from the sudden movement. “We shouldn’t. This was a one time thing, Will. I can’t do –
“Then give me the night,” I said taking a hold of her cheek and forcing her to look at me. “Give me what time we have left and let me rock your world.”
“You already have, believe me,” she said with a satisfied smile.
“You haven’t seen anything yet,” I promised, kissing her softly.
“There’s more?” she asked.
“Hell yeah,” I said kissing her again. “I solemnly swear that you will be unable to walk in the morning.”
We were dynamite together and she never allowed herself to open her heart and stay with only me. The sex was always amazing. The best I had ever had. No-one had come close through the years. She was it for me; my equal. And just as I officially claimed her as my girlfriend, she went to rehab and completely unclaimed me.
Chapter Nine
Present
Will
I awoke the next afternoon to the smell of bacon and my mouth started to water. Was there any other way to wake up? Yes, with Janey beside me, but that hadn’t quite worked out the way it was meant to. She was gone - obviously hours ago - back up to her room without me.
“The beast has awoken,” said Zac from the dining table, his mouth full of breakfast.
“Just in time,” said Ava, taking two plates over to the table. “Come and eat.”
I sat up and winced at the sharp throb in my head. Why did I do this to myself? The mornings after were just not worth it. I shuffled myself over to the toilet and closed the door behind me, the click of the door reverberating inside my sore head. I was going to eat some breakfast and then go back to bed. Today was going to be a write-off.
“Did you speak to Janey?” asked Ava as I came back out and over to the table.
“Yep. She seemed happy.”
“With the new job or seeing you here, waiting for her?” asked Zac with a smirk. I gave him the finger and then proceeded to gulp the coffee that was set before me. Bacon and eggs were next. I couldn’t handle any conversation until I was done.
“She’s still sleeping; she must have worked hard,” said Ava stopping to take a sip of her coffee. “I hope this all works out for her.”
“I take it the cash on the coffee table is hers?” said Zac.
I nodded and said, “Tips. There will be a lot more where that came from.”
“I spoke briefly to her last night,” said Ava looking to me. “Did she seem happy to see you here?”
I shrugged and said, “I don’t know. Yes and no. She’s still hell bent on moving on, even when I know she doesn’t want to.”
“So why is she forcing it then?” asked Ava.
I let out a sigh and said, “I don’t know but it’s obviously something about me. Something that’s stopping her letting me be part of her new life for some reason.”
“That’s what I don’t get. You both make so much sense together,” said Ava.
“She needs time. We need to let her do her thing. This is the first time in her life she’s taking responsibility for herself,” said Zac. I nodded in agreement.
“She’s clean as well; for the first time in years. That’s got to be a good thing and she seems to be coping off her meds at the same time,” said Zac with a shrug. “We need to let her work it out.”
“And what about her friendships with us? With Will?” asked Ava.
“I’m working on that,” I said, rubbing my now full stomach. “I think we all know that I won’t give up on her.”
Ava smiled at me and then leaned over and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I looked to Zac with a smirk and said,
“Told you she always wanted me.”
Ava shoved my shoulder and I laughed, until the sharp pain in my head made me nearly pass out. My phone buzzed and I pulled it from my pocket to check the message.
Unknown - I have information you need. Meet @Essence Bar - Tomorrow 10.00pm. Concerning your father
I frowned at the message, then tried to focus on it and read it again. My father? I had no idea who he was. Who the hell was this person and how did they know me? I texted back.
Will - Wrong number
It buzzed back immediately.
Unknown - No Will. Right Number. Be there.
I cocked an eyebrow in surprise and then rubbed my eye, trying to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating in my hungover state.
“Everything okay?” asked Zac.
“Yeah, just family stuff,” I said slipping my phone back in my pocket. “I’m going to love and leave you.”
“Want me to drive you back?” asked Zac.
“You’re probably still as drunk as me. I’ll organise a lift now,” I said, getting up and taking my plate to the sink. I leaned against the kitchen counter and texted one of the family drivers to come and get me at the same time as Janey appeared in the kitchen. She was freshly showered; her hair still wet and she looked and smelled amazing.
“Hey,” I greeted her with a smile.
“How’s the hangover?” she asked, getting some bacon and taking a bite.
“Dreadful,” I said, reading the incoming confirmation text from my driver.
“So how did it all go?” asked Ava.
“Not too bad really; I mastered the art of pouring beers and survived. I got some tips and was propositioned for a quick fuck after my shift,” she said with her mouth full of bacon. “All in all a good night.”
Ava laughed.
“Wait, what?” I asked.
“When can we go in and get drinks from you?” asked Ava.
“Or go in and laugh at you,” said Zac with a wink.
“Wait, who propositioned you?” I asked.
“Let me get settled before you come in and have a laugh,” said Janey, getting another piece of bacon and putting it in her mouth. Could I be jealous of bacon? I watched her lips move as she chewed, wanting more bacon all of a sudden. I just knew she would taste of it if I kissed her right now. I wondered who had propositioned her, knowing I would ask her as soon as she finished her bacon. I was clearly h
ungover and sleep deprived.
“I saw all your tips on the table; you could work every night to your advantage, looking like you do,” said Ava.
“Poor unsuspecting clubbing fools,” chuckled Zac as he got up and went outside for a cigarette. He casually took Ava with him, which left us in the kitchen alone. I watched her grab a plate that Ava had left for her and pull some bread apart. She popped it in her mouth and chewed thoughtfully.
“Who propositioned you?” I repeated, leaning against the counter.
“It doesn’t matter,” she said with a laugh. “But I don’t think he was used to the rejection.”
“Did you tell Jake? He can ban anyone from the club if needed.”
“Will, it’s totally fine,” she said with a smile. I frowned, trying to stop the familiar urge to protect her from everyone and everything. According to her, I wasn’t hers to protect anymore. I let out a sigh and rubbed my hand over my head, wishing the hangover away.
“I’m out of here; I’m in a food coma now and need more sleep.”
She suddenly laughed as she pulled apart more of the bread, about to say something and then stopped herself.
“What?” I asked.
She looked away and chewed her bread and said, “Nothing.”
I stepped over to her, my hand going near her own on the counter. “Tell me,” I said softly. She shook her head and refused to look at me as she focused on her plate.
“I was just remembering something, that’s all,” she said with a swallow. I watched her look at everything except me, feeling the air change between us. Our hangover cure was always: food, great sex, and then lots of sleep. My blood pumped faster at the thought and I hoped she was remembering that part of our lives. I stayed close to her, waiting for her to say something else. She swallowed the rest of the bread and then looked at the glass of orange juice near me; she would have to reach around me to grab it from the kitchen bench I was leaning on, so I deliberately didn’t move. She leaned into me, her eyes knowing, as she grabbed the glass. Her eyes didn’t move from mine as she took a long sip of the juice. My hand went up before I could consciously stop it and I wiped the excess juice from her top lip with my thumb as she put the glass back down. My thumb lingered there, our eyes burning into each other as we almost failed to control our urge for each other. I wanted to kiss her again; I wanted to bury my nose into her neck. Her tongue darted out before it just as quickly disappeared, like she wanted to lick at my thumb and then thought better of it. I felt my body move even closer to her, so our bodies were touching. I snuck a glance over to Zac and Ava outside to see them both laughing at something on her phone. No-one was watching.
