Alyssa's Desire

"I hope you are all smart enough to realize that she is currently out to get me and that you should take what she says with a grain of salt, and quit eavesdropping outside my goddamned door!"

Everyone scrambled to get back to work. Even though Jack Coleman was a very nice man to work for, he was the boss and he was clearly angry. No one wanted to be on the receiving end of his wrath today and so the office functioned in near silence for the rest of the afternoon. Everyone just stayed quiet and focused on their respective jobs.

The whole ride home that evening, Alyssa kept thinking about Jade's words. Could it be true? Is it possible that Jack was flirting with her all those times and that he had feelings for her? What would she do about Antonio? She liked him a lot and their relationship was going great but she was truly in love with Jack and she would choose him in a heartbeat. She didn't want things to go any further with Antonio if being with Jack was a possibility. That wasn't fair to Antonio. Besides, the last thing she wanted was to hurt the cute pizza boy who had protected her and stayed awake all night so she could get some sleep for work. On the other hand, if she broke up with Antonio and there was no truth to the accusation that Jade made, then she would be losing out on a chance at a good relationship. Alyssa just didn't know what to do. She knew that Antonio would be there when she got home and she would have to make a tough decision.

By the time Alyssa got home she had made that decision. She would break up with Antonio. She cared for him but she knew it would be cruel to string him along if she was secretly in love with somebody else. Her original intention with him was just to get laid, but they had not had sex yet. Instead Antonio seemed to be trying to build a relationship and she didn't want that anyway. She wasn't ready for a commitment to someone else, even if she had no chance with Jack. She drew in a deep breath and she unlocked her door, preparing to end things with Antonio.

"Antonio? Where are you at? I think we need to talk about something."

There was no answer. Alyssa called for him again and then she looked around her apartment. He was nowhere to be found. She went into the bedroom and noticed that the bed was made and a note was resting on the pillow. She opened it up and read it.

Bellissima, I am so sorry for this. I care for you truly, but this whole thing with drug dealers and people throwing things at windows and making threats, it is just too much. I can't get involved with it because it puts me and my family at risk and our business as well. I am sorry, Alyssa but it is over between us. Please stay safe. Antonio.

"Well I guess that takes care of that problem," said Alyssa aloud as she tore up the note and threw it in the garbage can by her bed. She was happy that she didn't have to break his heart, but it still hurt. She lay down and curled up into a ball, covered herself with her blankets and cried herself to sleep.

  Chapter Thirteen: A Murderous Connection

The next morning Alyssa awoke before dawn. She was still upset about her break up with Antonio but she was greatly relieved that she didn't have to hurt him. She had quite a bit of time before work and so she decided to watch the news while she was getting ready. Little did she know that they were about to air a story that would change her life forever. The headlining story was about a thirty-eight year old man by the name of Sam Masterson who had been arrested on multiple charges of murder and kidnapping. The news showed the man being escorted through the courthouse and much to Alyssa's surprise; Jack was walking right beside him! Alyssa quickly ran over to her TV to turn up the volume and find out what was happening.

Sam Masterson was part of a wealthy family from upstate New York. His father, James Masterson was a former mayor and prospective congressman. According to the news, Sam Masterson was arrested after someone called the police to report that they had seen a young woman running across a field dragging chains behind her. Upon investigation, the police discovered several young women that were being held captive inside Masterson's home and numerous human remains were found buried in his yard!

Alyssa cupped her mouth with shock and she couldn't help but wonder why Jack was escorting this dangerous potential serial killer through the courthouse. The firm of Coleman, Patters and Schleicher didn't normally handle those types of cases. They did have a team that covered criminal defense and Jack Coleman was one of those lawyers, but honestly the firm generally only took on cases that they knew they could win. Even so, these were usually white collar crimes, not murder cases. Alyssa literally had no idea what was going on. She finished getting ready for work and headed out the door an hour early so she could get there and find out firsthand what was happening.

When Alyssa arrived at work it was a virtual media circus. There were news reporters and cameras in the lobby and news vans parked outside. There were people everywhere and the office was so full that it was standing room only in some places. Alyssa was so overwhelmed at all of the craziness, that she had no idea what to do. She walked toward her cubicle and she saw Jack standing with a group of junior associates and paralegals. He noticed her when she walked in and he called her name and motioned for her to join them. Alyssa was a little hesitant but she walked over to the group. Jack turned to address her.

"Alyssa, I told you that I wanted to bring onto my team with the next big case. Well, we have the mother of all cases today. You're one of my best paralegals and I really need you on board with this one. Now it will mean longer hours and weekends, but I will give a bonus to everyone who works on this case. Plus, if you do a good job on this, I will bring you on my personal staff on a permanent basis. So are you on board?"

"Yeah, absolutely. I'm just a little confused; we are talking about the Sam Masterson case, right? I didn't think we handled things like that to be perfectly honest," Alyssa admitted.

"Normally you would be right. We do not normally take on high profile, low chance cases, but this one is different. Sam Masterson's father has been a client for us for years and he has donated considerable money to the firm during that time. He has asked us to help his son and we don't want to lose that family's connections, even if it means bad publicity and a certain loss for the firm," Jack said.

"So our existing relationship with the Masterson family is so important that it outweighs the consequences?" Alyssa asked for the purpose of being really clear on the situation at hand.

"Exactly. So Alyssa I want to introduce you to Julie Carmen," Jack said as he pointed to one of the junior associates. "She can help to bring you up to speed and get you started and then we will all meet in my office at eleven."

  "Yes, sir, Mr. Coleman."

Julie Carmen brought Alyssa into her office and proceeded to give her a rundown on what was happening. According to Julie, the whole situation was a total nightmare for the firm. Apparently James Masterson was significant in helping to start the firm because of his monetary investments and his political connections. Not to mention the fact that James Masterson owns a large portion of the firm's stocks and therefore they simply could not refuse to represent his son, no matter the cost.

The Masterson family had requested that Jack Coleman handle the case personally because Jack was about the same age as Sam and they had known each other for years. Plus Jack had an impeccable record as an attorney. Julie then confided in Alyssa that Jack was under a tremendous amount of stress as a result. He knew Sam Masterson was guilty and that they had zero chance of winning his case. The very best they could offer the family was avoiding the death penalty or maybe getting him sent to a mental health facility rather than a prison cell. No matter what was going to happen, the Masterson family was not going to be happy and the media was going to tear apart the firm for their involvement. The whole situation was a form of corporate suicide as far as Jack was concerned. Julie warned Alyssa that due to stress of the situation, Jack was not his normally calm and collected self. She told Alyssa not to take it personally if he snapped at her, because he was coming down on everyone.

Alyssa was in an emotional whirlwind. She was really happy that she would finally be wor
king with Jack. This was the opportunity she had been hoping for every since she first laid eyes on him. On the other hand, with this being such a bad situation, Alyssa's chances of getting close to Jack or even impressing him with her work was slim to none. She breathed a deep sigh of frustration and then she asked Julie what she could do to help.

Julie brought out a series of boxes that were all filled to the top with files. She told Alyssa that working a case like this was like being a detective. They had to go over all of the evidence themselves and double check all of the facts. The paralegals were going to be responsible for a lot of this leg work. She handed a very heavy box to Alyssa and told her to start combing through it. Every piece of evidence, every statement, and every receipt needed to be verified. Alyssa's job was to start making calls and double checking on everything in that box. It was a take your time but hurry it up kind of a job. Alyssa needed to be meticulous in her work and make sure that every detail was accurate, but she also needed to work as quickly as possible to be ready for the trial proceedings.

Alyssa did not waste any time. She started going through the files and making phone calls. She took notes on everything she did and she became so focused on her tasks that for the first time since she started working there, she was not thinking about Jack. That was until Julie came to collect her for the meeting. Alyssa excused herself to go the restroom before attending. In hopes of being the employee that Jack had a thing for, she made it a point to fix herself up a little. She opened the top button of her blouse and she touched up her makeup. She couldn't help but hold onto the hope that Jade was correct and that just maybe working with Jack directly would be the push he needed to act on those feelings.

At the meeting, Alyssa was trying hard to pay attention to what Jack was saying but he looked so good that she had trouble concentrating on anything but his perfect body. She could see the muscle tone under his clothes and when he sat down she couldn't help but gaze at his trousers, just imagining the delightful cock that must be hiding beneath them. She was thinking about how nice it would be to suck it and she was kind of running her tongue over her pen while she was thinking about this. Jack happened to glance in her direction and he saw her doing this. He stumbled over his words for a second and he gave her a second glance. Alyssa suddenly realized what she had been doing and she quickly fought to compose herself. She did brush her hair back and give Jack a coy smile that accompanied her red cheeks. Jack smiled back and then he went on talking about the case.

Embarrassed that Jack must have realized what she was thinking; Alyssa made it a point to keep her thoughts clean for the rest of the meeting. She noticed that Jack kept looking at her though, far more than he was before he caught her running her tongue on her pen. Had she inadvertently captured his attention? Perhaps this was too much to hope for, but Jack did seem to be glancing in her direction an awful lot. Alyssa couldn't help but wonder if he really did like her.

The meeting ran for more than two hours. There was a lot on information to take in. Everyone was discussing the work that had been done that morning and was comparing notes. Jack was making sure he was aware of everything that his entire team was working on and there was a lot of discussion as to what needed to be accomplished. There was so much to go over that everyone agreed to a working lunch and they ordered food from a nearby deli.

When Alyssa got her food, she sat down at the table to eat and to go over her notes. Jack was sitting at a nearby table, doing essentially the same thing. She noticed him watching her over the top of his papers. In an unusually bold move, Alyssa decided to try and see if Jack truly had noticed her earlier and if he would respond to a similar gesture. Alyssa was eating carrot sticks and ranch dressing. She dipped a carrot and delicately placed it into her mouth. She then sucked the ranch right off. Then she licked the side of the carrot and then briefly sucked on it again before taking a bite. All this time she kept eye contact with Jack. He definitely noticed what she was doing. He looked around quickly to see if anyone else was watching them. Everybody was busy either eating or working or a combination of both. So he watched Alyssa as she teased him with the carrot. He smiled and blushed and then she did the same. Then Jack kind of laughed to himself, gave Alyssa a final look and then he tried to go back to what he was doing. He kept peeking at her though and the entire lunch they kept glancing and smiling at each other. Alyssa was sure that this was a sign that she had Jack's attention. She was determined to tempt him into following through with whatever dirty thoughts were running through his mind when he looked at her.

After lunch they had to really buckle down and work on the case. Jack went into his office to work and Alyssa went back to the room she started the day in. It was just as well, neither one of them would be able to concentrate if they were in the same room together. At the end of the day, Jack stopped Alyssa in the hallway and told her that she was doing a really good job and that he hoped that the two of them would continue to work closely together. Alyssa told him she wanted the same thing and then she kind of licked her lips as she said goodbye. Jack smiled and they both looked back at each other as they walked away.

That night Alyssa was so worked up over her interactions with Jack that she fucked herself with her personal toys as hard as she could. She just couldn't get enough after flirting with Jack all day. It really did seem like he wanted her too and that pushed her desire to a whole new level. She masturbated for nearly two hours until her pussy had become raw and sore and her arms ached from pulling the toys in and out. She had cum so many times and so hard, but she still wanted more. Never in her life had she wanted a man so badly. She just couldn't wait until she saw him the next day.

The Masterson trial was moving really fast. Jack, Alyssa and all of their coworkers were putting in crazy amounts of overtime and working nonstop to prepare. Jack wanted to file motions to delay the proceedings in order to give them more time to build a defense, but the Masterson family wanted to push forward. They had insisted upon an insanity defense in hopes of getting Sam moved to a mental institution rather than a prison cell. The family had accepted that Sam was guilty and so their hope was that if their son had to spend the rest of his life incarcerated that he would at least have the best accommodations that they could get.

Jack had argued that an insanity defense was one of the hardest to pull off and that he did not want the family to get their hopes up too much. The Masterson's were insistent that Jack make it happen anyway, and so that was the focus. The pressure was clearly getting to Jack. He constantly looked stressed out and overwhelmed and he was snapping at the workers on a regular basis. He made it a point to be really nice to Alyssa though. Over the next few weeks they were together all the time, but they were surrounded by coworkers and there were very few opportunities for flirting. Alyssa would occasionally smile and caress her shirt along the bust line, or chew on her pen like she did that first day. She tried to add subtle but clearly sexual gestures in her interactions with Jack whenever she could. She knew they were both crazy busy but she wanted to make it clear that she was interested. Jack always smiled and blushed when he noticed these small flirtations. He resisted flirting back, but he always seemed happy about it and no matter how stressed he was he always smiled at Alyssa.

After two months of extensive preparation, the firm was finally ready for the trial proceedings to begin. Alyssa was happy that she would no longer have to work day and night trying to get ready, but she was sad because now Jack would be spending his days in court and not with her. Still this was inevitable. The last day before court Jack told Alyssa that he was pleased with her job performance and that he intended to make her a full time member of his legal team. This news made Alyssa very happy and she seductively told him that she would do anything to continue to work with him. She figured he picked up on the innuendo because he blushed a little bit. Then he told her that he looked forward to working with her more in the future.

For the next two weeks Jack was in court all day and Alyssa had returned to he
r normal duties. She was back working in her old cubicle doing much the same things that she did before the trial. The trial was going better than the firm had expected. They had managed to secure testimony from several psychiatrists who indicated that Sam Masterson was severely mentally ill and that he would be best placed in a high security facility for the criminally insane. So far it seemed as if the jury was agreeing with this as a potential sentencing arrangement.

Finally the trial was over. The jury had found Sam Masterson guilty on seven counts of murder, nineteen counts of rape and nineteen counts of kidnapping. They agreed to accept a plea of insanity and Masterson was in fact sentenced to life in a maximum security mental health facility for the criminally insane. He would be kept in a padded cell and cared for by psychiatrists. Although he would be strictly confined, he would receive treatment and a hefty cocktail of medications. This seemed to please Sam Masterson as he told Jack that if he had to be locked up at least he would be doped up on prescription meds to the point where he either wouldn't know where he was or he wouldn't care as much. Since Sam was apparently happy with the outcome, his father was pleased as well and he thanked the firm and Jack Coleman for their service.

When Jack returned from court on the final day, he asked all of the associates and paralegals who worked on the case to come to his office for a small victory celebration. He had coffee and donuts delivered and invited everyone to relax for the last two hours of the day. Jack made a little speech in which he thanked everyone for their hard work and dedication. He told them that they had faced the impossible and managed to get their client the best possible outcome. He then stated that everyone who participated in that case would receive a small bonus in their next week's paycheck as a thank you. This of course was in addition to the overtime pay that they were all entitled to.
