Demon's Stand
Page 18
Demon followed as he roared… then they both groaned long and deep in unison.
“Oh, my god,” she gasped. “That was amazing. We didn’t even last three minutes!”
He nodded as he still said very little.
Shiloh waited for his words. If he had something to say, it was worth waiting for.
Demon cradled her head in his hands and stared into her eyes as he whispered to her lips, “Don’t you ever tell me again that you don’t belong to me.” Then he kissed her.
EPILOGUE
A few weeks later, they all waited for the judge to pass sentencing. Charlie, Henry, Stan, Demon and Shiloh had been here through several hearings and were so done waiting for justice to be served.
They had had to wait until the last appeal had been denied before the judge could pass sentence. He looked at the four men standing before him. “Gentlemen, this court has the pleasure of putting the four of you in the prison system for the rest of your natural lives. You have been found guilty of a number of charges including but not limited to murder, racketeering and money laundering. One of you will be back in court in a week or so charged with the violent death of a police officer and the series of attempts on other police officers’ lives. As for the rest of you, the charges add up to more than your lives, so I sentence you to spend the rest of your days in jail with absolutely no possibility of parole.”
Steven turned his head to glare at his brother Ralph and said, “You couldn’t just leave well enough alone could you?”
Ralph didn’t turn around, as he just scoffed, “No I guess I couldn’t. But it’s Simon’s fault.”
Simon glared at them both and said not a word. He, like the other two was dressed in orange and it appeared that he would wear that for the rest of his life.
They were all led out in cuffs and chains at their ankles by the bailiff and three officers.
Shiloh stood as did Demon.
Charlie came over and gazed into her eyes. He had nothing to say, he knew all was now said and done.
She gulped down tears. Her parent’s murders were finally solved and the killers dead or jailed. Donna’s killer was dead. She felt a weight lift from her that nearly took her breath away.
Charlie took her hands and nodded.
Shiloh nodded back as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Demon stepped up to her and swiped her tears away with his fingertips then put his arm around her shoulders. “Now, it’s time to live, Babe.”

K.J. Dahlen
Author of the bestselling Bratva Brothers Series & The Satan Spawn MC Series…
I live in a small town (population495) in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
