Juan Pablo Villalobos was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1973. His first novel, Down the Rabbit Hole, was the first translation ever to be shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award (in 2011) and the book has been translated into fifteen languages. Quesadillas is his second novel. He has researched such diverse topics as the influence of the avant-garde on the work of César Aira and the flexibility of pipelines for electrical installations. He lives in Brazil and has two children.
Rosalind Harvey has lived in Lima and Norwich, where she fell in love with Spanish and translation, respectively. She now lives in east London, where she translates Hispanic fiction. Her translation of Down the Rabbit Hole was shortlisted for the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize as well as the Guardian First Book Award. She has also worked with Anne McLean on co-translations of prize-winning authors Enrique Vila-Matas and Héctor Abad.
Neel Mukherjee is the author of the award-winning debut novel A Life Apart. His second novel, The Lives of Others, is to be published in 2014.
