I stood by Miriam’s car whilst Jordan stood with his body leaning against Kyle’s.
It didn’t take long for the rest of the family to show up, the boys all pumped up and Miriam just laughing at their hyperactivity.
When she saw me at the car, I gave her a warm smile that she returned. “You seem in a good mood, sweetie. Something happen?” She sang as she got herself in the car.
I took one last glance at Jordan, who decided to do the same with me. He gave me his usual wry smile before getting in the car. I did the same and rode shotgun. “I guess you could say that.” I answered Miriam’s question with a smile I couldn’t take off my face.
“Hm, I hope it wasn’t too much of a ‘something’.” She told me before Craig got himself in the back of the car.
With her words, I noticed she knew what happened. But it didn’t affect me as much as it did. Instead, I felt like I was given her blessing…
“So, enjoy the game, Freesia?” Craig asked me as he sat in the back seat, still with some excess energy in him.
Crap, I completely forgot about the game! I wasn’t paying attention to any of it at all!
I gave him a sheepish look. “Yeah, it was… It was great!” I spoke to him.
“Great? Try awesome!” He yelled, reaching in the sky and pumping his arm in victory. “The Yankees totally thrashed the other team!” He added.
Oh, so the Yankees won. Somehow, I wasn’t as excited about knowing that as I thought I would be… But then again, something, or rather someone, completely different was on my mind.
“I am going to remember this for a long time!” Craig announced.
I couldn’t help but chuckle at myself, before looking at my reflection in the passenger window. “Yeah, me too…” I whispered, feeling my heart warm again. “It really was a memorable day…”
