Star Wars - The Adventures of Alex Winger 7 - Rendezvous with Destiny Page 4

When Barzon’s son, Cord, was arrested, many viewed the arrest as an attempt to blackmail Barzon into cooperating with the Imperials. When the doctor was arrested only days later, he was taken to the Empire’s secret research facility to complete his research — he has secretly been trying to undermine Imperial efforts to complete his research on the hibridium ore.

Capsule: Sarahwiee was established as a secret research facility during the reign of Emperor Palpatine. It had been uninhabited, a frozen world offering few natural resources that might be turned for profit. To be absolutely certain that Sarahwiee would be relegated to obscurity, Palpatine had all references to the system wiped from the Imperial archives.

During Palpatine’s reign, and continuing during the uncertain years following the Battle of Endor, a select group of fleet captains supplied provisions to the Imperial troops and researchers stationed on the planet. It has only been in the weeks since the Imperial fleet’s defeat at the Battle of Bilbringi that free-traders have been hired to transport supplies necessary to continue Sarahwiee’s operation.

The garrison that houses Imperial forces is the only structure on the planet. It is situated in the southern hemisphere in an extremely mountainous region. There are no roads. The only way in or out is by ship. Access to the base’s two clocking bays is restricted to Imperial vessels and supply vessels which pass security clearance.

  Adventure Idea

The characters are members of Page’s Commandos and must penetrate the Imperial research labs on Sarahwiee. They decide to access the upper levels of the garrison using the cargo lift. However, as New Republic Intelligence pointed out, the use of this lift is noticed by security within the garrison. Though the characters are able to get to level 19 and plant explosives, their work is interrupted by stormtroopers. The characters must fight their way back to the landing bay, gain access to the control room and open the shield doors so their ship can escape. Once airborne, they must avoid TIE fighters from the Star Destroyer in orbit around the planet.

  Adventure Idea

The characters are starfighter pilots attached to a New Republic task force. The small fleet is waiting in a system adjacent to Sarahwiee to offer assistance to Page’s Commandos if needed. The fleet receives a signal from Page’s Commandos — Imperial forces have been alerted to their presence and the commandos expect to meet some resistance as they attempt to escape the system. The characters are flying X-wings or Y-wings as escort for a Mon Calamari cruiser, and must provide cover escort for the light freighters fleeing Sarahwiee with Page’s Commandos. The opposition includes an Imperial Star Destroyer and one Strike-class cruiser, as well as several flights of TIE fighters.
