The Last Di Sione Claims His Prize

Though he imagined that had something to do with the woman sitting at his side. Queen Lucia, his true lost mistress, finally returned to him. It was a miracle.

And it didn’t matter how many years he had left to his name, because he knew they would be the happiest years yet. And he imagined there were very few people who could claim such a thing.

At his appointment last week the doctors had told him he was doing well, something no one had ever expected to happen at his age. They also told him he was healthier than should be possible. That he was a miracle. He wasn’t entirely certain that he was a miracle, but there were certainly miracles all around him. Each and every one of his grandchildren, settled and fallen in love. Nate, brought into the family in a real and true way. Alessandro healed from the wounds left behind by his parents.

  And Lucia by his side.

Yes, as he looked around the family estate, lushly decorated for Christmas, glittering with lights, ribbon and boughs of holly, he couldn’t help but think that the miracle had nothing to do with him at all.

The miracle was, and had always been, love, available for anyone who would reach out and take it.

And though it was late in his life, he was taking it now.

He took Lucia’s hand in his, just as Alessandro pulled Gabriella into his arms for a kiss. He looked at Lucia and saw that her eyes were fixed to the painting hanging in the great room. Perhaps scandalous in some ways, but then, when it came to the Di Sione family, it was difficult to say what was scandalous and what was simply everyday business.

“I love you,” he said, squeezing Lucia’s hand.

She took her eyes away from the painting and looked back at him, offering a slow smile.

“I can see that. I can see it clearly.”

  THE INNOCENT’S SECRET BABY

Somehow Lydia was back against the wall with Raul’s hands either side of her head.

She put her hands up to his chest and felt him solid beneath her palms and she just felt him there a moment and then looked up to his eyes.

His mouth moved in close and as it did she stared right into his eyes.

She could feel heat hover between their mouths in a slow tease before they first met.

  Then they met.

And all that had been missing was suddenly there.

Yet, the gentle pressure his mouth exerted, though blissful, caused a mire of sensations until the gentleness of his kiss was no longer enough.

A slight inhale, a hitch in her breath and her lips parted, just a little, and he slipped his tongue in.

The moan she made went straight to his groin.

At first taste she was his and he knew it for her hands moved to the back of his head and he kissed her as hard back as her fingers demanded.

  More so even.

His tongue was wicked and her fingers tightened in his thick hair and she could feel the wall cold and hard against her shoulders.

It was the middle of Rome just after six and even down a side street there was no real hiding from the crowds.

  Lydia didn’t care.

He slid one arm around her waist to move her body away from the wall and closer into his, so that her head could fall backwards.

If there was a bed, she would be on it.

If there was a room they would close the door.

Yet there wasn’t and so he halted them, but only their lips.

Their bodies were heated and close and he looked her right in the eye. His mouth was wet from hers and his hair a little messed from her fingers.
