VAT support: When performing currency conversions you can factor in the Value Added Tax (VAT) into each conversion. CIH has preset VAT percentages for all U.S. states and Canadian Provinces but you can also edit these percentages as needed (Fig 1.).
Set precision on conversion output: Set the precision between 2 and 5 decimal places.
New calculator keys: A much-needed backspace key has been added to the calculator, as well as a lock button to prevent accidental calculator to conversion input.
Computer conversions: Convert a bit, byte, nibble, kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte and more—you get the idea.
Desktop version now included: This is great news for all desktop PC users: now your favorite Pocket PC conversion software is available on your desktop for no additional cost.
Something useful for everyone
I think that Burr Oak Software has incorporated enough new features in version 3.0 to satisfy even the pickiest Pocket PC users. I personally believe that the area code finder, the tip calculator, and the ability to incorporate VAT into my currency conversions are the three functions that I will find the most useful. I travel to Canada several times a year to visit family and friends, so I know for a fact that the ability to add the cost of taxes to my purchase will be invaluable. As for the tip calculator, it’s nothing big, but now I can make a little room in my RAM memory by getting rid of the stand-alone tips calculator software I already had loaded on my Pocket PC. The Roman numeral converter doesn’t seem like something users would find particularly useful, but if you are a map, magazine, or book collector like myself, then you know that many old publications used Roman numerals when listing the date of publication. In such cases you might actually be grateful for this little gem.
Finally, the desktop-version of the program is now included free with this update or with a new purchase of this product. Sound like a good deal to me.
Where can I get a copy of CIH 3.0?
The upgrade is free for all current registered CIH users. The full program and a 30-day trial version of CIH is available for all Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003 devices. The trial version or the upgrade can be downloaded from the Burr Oak Software Web site (http://www.burroak.on.ca).
The purchase price of the full version of CIH, which includes the desktop PC version, is $18.99. It is available from one of the following online resellers: Handango (http://www.handango.com), Pocket Gear (http://www.pocketgear.com), or RegSoft.com (http://www.regsoft.com).
