"Is that right?" Mrs. Dundee said.
"That's what he does for a living. He works for a nonprofit that promotes science education in underprivileged areas." Trevor felt more comfortable talking about Diego and taking the focus off himself.
"I wouldn't mind putting my name to a check for a good cause like that," she said. "Tell Diego to hit me up and let me know what to put on the check."
"Really?" Trevor said, surprised that she was volunteering a contribution.
"It's another tax deduction, sweetie," she said with a smile.
Trevor rejoined Diego just as he was chasing down a canapé with a swallow of champagne. He tried not to get distracted by the sight of his throat working as he stepped up next to him.
"I mentioned your job and the nonprofit, and Mrs. Dundee said she would make a donation," Trevor told him.
"Did you just do my job for me?" Diego asked with a grin.
"No. All I did was mention your name and she volunteered to write a check. What's your secret?" Trevor asked and looked at him suspiciously.
"I didn't do anything. This was you, not me. I was over here stuffing my face with canapés," Diego told him.
Trevor shook his head at Diego's claim of innocence. "People hear your name and money starts falling out of their pockets. I think you're some kind of supervillain."
"I'm a good guy. Say superhero. Or at least Robin Hood," Diego said.
Trevor smiled at the image. "Let's keep dancing." He took Diego's hand and led him back to the dance floor.
Chapter 14
So far the night had been wonderful. Diego never imagined that he could enjoy the birthday party of someone he barely knew this much. But as long as he got to have Trevor in his arms, he was overjoyed. As they danced, balloons bounced around their feet. The floor had turned colorful with all the confetti and lots of guests danced with champagne glasses in their hands.
"I feel like it was New Year's just now. Then there's the Christmas room. It's so confusing in here," Trevor said.
"This place is crazy in the best way possible," Diego said with a big grin.
"I can see why you and Mrs. Dundee made an instant connection," Trevor told him.
Diego remembered how she knew right away that he had feelings for Trevor. "Are we the only gay couple here?" Diego wondered and looked around. He saw two ladies who looked very friendly, but he couldn't tell if that was just because they were drunk.
"Are we a couple?" Trevor asked his voice tremulous. He was funny.
"Of course we are. Pay attention," Diego told him.
"I'm driving us back home," Trevor decided.
That's what Diego was counting on or he wouldn't have let himself drink. Trevor only had one glass of real champagne and mostly drank the nonalcoholic, sparkling ciders. He was so responsible and gorgeous.
"I never want to stop dancing with you," he told Trevor.
Trevor stared at him speechlessly then he eyed him with an intent expression before quickly looking away. "I guess you and Jamie should crash at my place tonight," he said.
At first Diego only smiled. "OK," he said quietly. Then he added, "I'd love to."
Now he couldn't help it, he had to kiss him. He didn't want to do it in the middle of the dance floor though.
Grabbing his hand, he pulled Trevor along until he found a way to get outside. They were on a porch overlooking the garden. Suddenly, Diego stopped and turned to take hold of Trevor. He pulled Trevor hard against him and kissed him.
Maybe he was just surprised, but Trevor looked dazed. The kiss was too abrupt. Diego wondered if he was pushing him and started to apologize. "I didn't mean to..."
Trevor didn't let him finish. He grabbed him and kissed him with all the passion he had been holding back maybe for all of his life. That's how it felt to Diego, like he was tasting the fire inside him and if he wasn't careful he might be consumed.
When it was time to leave, Trevor said goodbye to Mrs. Dundee first so he could go and check if Zane needed to be changed before they left. Diego wanted to thank her for the donation so he stayed back.
"When they say 'painfully shy' that boy is exactly what they mean," she said as she gestured in Trevor's direction with her champagne glass.
Diego thought back to that kiss. It wasn't hesitant or shy. It was the most intense kiss Diego had ever experienced.
"I don't know," Diego said to her. "Seems like he got you to pledge to make a donation to the nonprofit I work for."
"With those pretty, blue eyes of his, he can get me to do anything he wants," she said.
"Thank you. I spoke to your assistant and I'll be sending her the information. Thank you very much, and thank you for inviting us. We had an amazing time."
"I'm glad I did. I can never have too many good-looking boys around. You two looked pretty dancing together out there. And that Lance is a friend of yours too. With his red curls, the two of us would be a matched pair. I envy Mr. and Mrs. H. Must be nice to have that curly headed angel sandwiched between them."
"I don't think I want to dwell on that too much," Diego said. He really wanted to beg her not to make it sound like they had a threesome going.
They arrived at Trevor's with two sleeping kids in their arms and laid them down to sleep in their party clothes. Stopping in the living room, Diego loosened his tie. He eyed the couch and hoped that wasn't where he would be sleeping tonight. Trevor joined him but then just looked down at the floor.
"Am I sleeping in your bedroom tonight?" Diego asked so there would be no misunderstandings about what Trevor had in mind.
"Yes," Trevor said simply but he refused to meet Diego's eyes.
"In your bed?"
Trevor said yes again, this time with a smile. His eyes were still cast down, hidden by his thick eyelashes, but he did take Diego's hand to lead him to his bedroom.
They stopped just inside, left the room darkened except for one dim lamp and locked the door behind them. Diego turned to face Trevor. Letting his eyes adjust to the low light in there, he took in the man in front of him – the deep blue of his eyes, the shadows and the glow on his face and hair.
As he stood facing him, Diego let his fingers play through Trevor's soft, dark hair while he looked into his eyes. "This is where we were headed all along. Some things are inevitable. We've been flirting all this time..."
Trevor interrupted, speaking in a whisper. "Who was flirting? I wasn't flirting. Much."
"I was definitely flirting, and now I'm going to kiss you."
"Nice of you to warn me," Trevor whispered.
He sounded incredibly nervous and once again Diego worried that he was rushing him. Then their lips met and Diego lost himself in that feeling. Kissing Trevor was so intoxicating that Diego almost forgot his concern.
But when he pulled back, he felt he had to reassure Trevor, "We don't have to do anything tonight just because I'm sleeping over here. We can do whatever you want."
"Everything," Trevor said with his head bowed so that his words came out only as a whisper against Diego's chest.
His hair tickled Diego's lips as he asked him, "What was that?"
"What I want is everything." Trevor still spoke in a breathless whisper, but he now raised his eyes to Diego.
Diego felt like he would be knocked down by the look in his eyes. They were filled with need and desire, pleading and threatening, and indescribably beautiful. Diego took him in his arms and kissed him long and hard. He could deny him nothing. He couldn't even breathe. Trevor was his world and tonight he would belong to him. They would belong to each other.
Taking off his suit jacket, Diego threw it blindly behind him in the general direction of a chair. His tie followed, but the rest would have to wait. First he had to get Trevor naked.
Diego peeled off Trevor's clothes slowly, his fingers trembling more than he expected. Trevor sighed and shivered with every touch. His skin was burning hot under Diego's lips. He was an inferno that would consume Diego.
Before he was
done stripping him, Trevor reached for the buttons of his shirt and undid them slowly. As his shirt stood unbuttoned, Trevor slipped his fingers under it to caress Diego's chest. His hands moved up and he slipped the shirt off Diego's shoulders.
Diego groaned, his chest rumbling as Trevor touched the ridge of every muscle, kissed along his collar bone to the veins of his neck then up to his earlobe. He growled when Trevor nipped him then captured his mouth with his own.
They tumbled into Trevor's neatly made bed, still half dressed and fumbled with each other's belts and zippers in a desperate struggle to get their pants off and reach each other's cocks. Diego was first to pull Trevor's pants to his ankles and his boxers around his hips. Then he pushed him down. Diego nuzzled his beautiful cock and kissed it until he swallowed it down and made it his. Trevor whimpered and cursed, dissolving into moans as Diego's mouth pumped over his cock.
Not wanting to lose the feeling of Trevor's cock in his mouth, hitting the back of his throat just right like he was made for him, Diego slowed down. His breathing ragged and fast, Trevor begged him for more. Diego obliged him, speeding up for a while but slowing down again to make it last.
Finally he went to it, sucking deep and hard until Trevor was coming, gasping and moaning. At that moment Diego felt that bliss had a new meaning.
When Diego was done swallowing every last drop of his come, Trevor seemed spent in every way. But as soon as Diego was done with him and rising up above him, Trevor came back to life. He kissed Diego hard and told him he was amazing.
Noticing that he never finished stripping him all the way, Diego pulled his pans and boxers off. Trevor kicked them away impatiently and reached for Diego's fly. They were both kneeling on his bed now, facing each other. Eyes hooded, his breathing fast, Trevor undid his fly then moaned low in his throat.
"You're naked and gorgeous. I have to warn you. I might come just from looking at you," Diego told him.
Trevor moaned again. "Fuck. I want you so much." As he spoke, his voice husky, he freed Diego's cock.
He started stroking it slowly while his eyes fell closed and his mouth stood half open and irresistible. Diego kissed him, swallowing his moans, mingling them with his own. While they kissed, Trevor stopped stroking him and pushed him down.
Making a space for himself between his legs, gripping his thighs, Trevor bent down slowly and licked around the head of his cock. Looking up at Diego, he then took the head in his mouth while his tongue kept swirling, driving him wild.
Letting the head pop out of his mouth, Trevor licked the shaft, letting his tongue learn and explore every inch, every vein. Diego gripped the sheets then let his hands ruffle Trevor's silky hair and stroke his neck. He had to touch him. Trevor's eyelids fluttered as he went back to sucking on the head for a while then let his lips and tongue glide up and down the length of his cock.
When he finally started taking the whole length into his mouth, he did it slowly, savoring every inch. The slow sucking went on forever. Breath hissing between gritted teeth, Diego cursed. He didn't know Trevor would be such a torturer.
Then Trevor let a moan vibrate all through him and then another one. He was ready to get serious. He started moving faster now, ready to push Diego right over the edge. His mouth was so hot and tight, taking him over and over again.
Coming was a blur of insane ecstasy and Trevor's name said over and over. Trevor was swallowing then they were kissing. Diego tried to put into words how he felt, but the words were incoherent, overlapping.
"You liked it?" Trevor asked.
"You amaze me. How can you even ask? God, I'll never stop wanting you," Diego said and kissed him again.
"Diego," Trevor sighed into his neck and they collapsed together, falling asleep naked and entwined.
Chapter 15
Last night was like something straight out of his fantasies, but it was real. Trevor had lived it, tasted it. With Diego, he felt like a new man, fearless and uninhibited, for a little while at least. Based on Diego's reaction, he did OK.
After a night like that, did they start their morning with a leisurely snuggle in Trevor's bed? Of course not. At the crack of dawn, Trevor sat bolt upright when Zane's crying woke him from a sound sleep. He got up while next to him Diego stirred and groaned. Dressing hurriedly, Trevor rushed to Zane's room and found that Zane was giggling and hugging his alligator.
"He was crying but then he was smiling and laughing," Jamie told him, amazed by his quick change of mood.
"As long as he sees a friendly face, he is OK," Trevor told him. "You did a good job."
After changing Zane, Trevor and the kids went to the kitchen so he could give them breakfast. While he was feeding Zane some cereal, Trevor heard Diego shuffle into the kitchen. Trevor eyed him only out of the corner of his eye, but he could still tell that Diego wasn't happy to be awake.
"Morning, everyone," Diego growled.
"Morning, Dad," Jamie said cheerfully between spoonfuls of his cereal.
Zane said, "Hi." And then he waved and waved at Diego.
"Look at all you happy guys," Diego said and gave all three of them a smile.
Once the kids were done with breakfast, Trevor put Zane in his playpen and left Jamie in the living room to keep him busy. Going back to the kitchen, he found that Diego had made coffee and was already having a cup.
Trevor poured a cup for himself too. The coffee looked a little too dark and muddy. After eyeing it suspiciously, he had a sip. The stuff was deadly.
"How can you drink this?" he asked Diego, appalled. "Are you human?"
"It's a little bitter," was all Diego would admit to.
"It's corrosive," Trevor told him.
"It's not coffee if it's not bitter. I want coffee to slap me around and wake me up in the morning," Diego said.
Trevor wasn't swayed by that argument. "I'm making a new pot. I like my beverages more drinkable and less prone to violence."
"I'll take your cup then," Diego said and grabbed it from him before he could spill it.
"This stuff will eat right through you." Trevor frowned as he watched him drink.
"Mmm. Just the way I like it," Diego said then he kissed him on the cheek. While Trevor started on making a new pot, Diego stuck close to him and even nuzzled his neck. "For the rest of the day. I'm going to be missing you so much."
"Drop by when you're done with work," Trevor said while Diego kissed his neck. He was completely under his influence, but then he remembered his job. "I start full time today."
"Did I make you forget all about that?" Diego said smugly.
"Yes, you did, and it's nothing to be proud of. I can't believe you want to babysit Zane again," Trevor said remembering that Diego offered to fill in until he sorted out his babysitting situation. Diego really had blown his mind.
"Why not? I love that little guy," Diego said.
"You're amazing. Thank you. I'll bring him by on my lunch hour." Trevor then remembered something else. "Here's my key in case you need anything from here," he said and gave him a copy.
"I'll get you mine too," Diego said and accepted the key almost solemnly, like it meant a lot to him.
"I trust you to take care of Zane. That's a much bigger deal than giving you my apartment key," Trevor pointed out just as Diego leaned in and kissed him.
"The exchange of keys is symbolic. It's like we're engaged or something," Diego said when he pulled back.
Trevor just stared at him for a moment. "I'm going to go talk to Zane now," he said taking a page out of Jamie's book. But as he joined the kids, his heart was beating wildly. Could the stuff Diego talked about actually happen?
Coming home from work at the end of the day, Trevor realized that he would have a lot to get used to. His longer workday cut into his time with Zane. It made him feel better that his little guy was with Diego and Jamie though.
Diego opened his apartment door with a cranky Zane in his arms. "I think he has a tooth coming out."
"He does. I saw it," Jamie c
onfirmed. "Zane has a tiny tooth poking out." Jamie wiggled his finger like the tooth was going to wriggle out like a worm.
Trevor took Zane, who was tearful and cranky. "My poor boy. Is your tooth being mean to you?" Trevor said and held him close.
He decided to take him to his place. Diego brought the playpen and Jamie carried a few of the lighter things.
"I ordered another one of these to keep at our place. A playpen. It arrives in two days," Diego said as he set up the playpen in its usual spot in Trevor's living room.
"You did?" Trevor said, surprised.
"It doesn't make sense to drag this one back and forth," he said. "Now what can I do to make this little guy feel better?"
"Let him gnaw on something cool," Trevor told him and they headed into the kitchen.
Poking in the freezer, Diego said, "I see some frozen pork chops."
Trevor didn't tell him he got those so he could invite him to dinner then chickened out and stuck them in the freezer for some other time. "I have some frozen cantaloupe slices in there. Zane liked it so I thought he might like it frozen too."
"I see orange Popsicles. I bet Zane would love one of those."
"He might, but he can't have it. Jamie can have one," Trevor said.
"Not me?" Diego said and looked at Trevor from behind the fridge door.
"You too."
Diego only got a Popsicle for Jamie and the frozen cantaloupe for Zane. Trevor had Zane sit in his highchair while Jamie sat at the kitchen table but turned to face him.
Stumbling over his words, Trevor made a confession. "Umm, actually, I got those pork chops so I could thank you for everything you did for me with the fridge and babysitting that first time, but then I wussed out."
Diego leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Because I came on too strong? Was this after I kissed you?"
"I kissed you too," Trevor whispered back.
"Let's not fight. We kissed each other. We'll leave it at that. What's important is that these pork chops have my name on them."
