“Dig in. None will go to waste.”

“So the electric came back on?”

“It does it from time to time. On and off. You get used to it.”

“You get used to a lot around here, huh?”

“I get used to what I need to.”

“Right.” She put a couple of pancakes and waffles on her plate, dripping lots of yummy syrup over them. Her mouth was watering for more, but she dug in.

  So far, no awkwardness.

She watched as he ate, and he looked like he didn’t have a care in the world.

“Er, I wanted to talk to you about what happened this morning.”

  “Are you regretting it?”

  “No, of course not.”

“Then we don’t need to discuss it.”

“I’m never like that. I mean, I don’t exactly know what I’m like.”

“You don’t go around waking up in men’s beds and fucking them?”

“When you put it like that, I’ve had boyfriends.”

“Meghan, I enjoyed this morning, a lot. I’m not going to embarrass you. What I’m going to tell you is feeling your pussy on my dick was fucking magical, and if you want to … help your experience here go a bit wild, then I’m all for it. I don’t take women. I live here alone. I’m safe, clean, and if there’s ever anything you don’t want to do, just say no. I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do. We’re both adults here. You want this morning to be it, then fine. If not, then I’m more than happy to explore what we’ve got here.”

  “What we’ve got?”

  “You didn’t feel it?”

“I did. I mean, yeah, of course, but, I, I’m new to all of this.”

  “You think I’m a pro?”

“I don’t know what to think. You knew how to handle yourself in the bedroom.”

He laughed. “Meghan, I may live in the middle of nowhere and not want to be part of all that crap in the city, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to have a good fuck when I want. I do, believe me. I love sex. I love it. Crave it. I haven’t found a woman I’ve wanted to be with, but I figured one day I would.”

“Is that woman me?” A mixture of panic and hope filled her.

  “No.”

“Right, we don’t really know each other.” Why shouldn’t she have been surprised?

Mount took her hand, locking their fingers together. “It doesn’t mean it can’t be. I’m not putting any pressure on you. It seems to me you’ve had a lot of people put a great deal of pressure on you over the years. You’ve taken it, and now, it’s time for you to relax and just trust. Stop overthinking every little detail and simply enjoy.”

“You make it sound so simple.”

“I hate to be the one to break it to you, baby, but it really is that simple. It’s as simple as you make it. Life really doesn’t have to be that complicated.”

Did he even know how tempting he sounded?

“Finish your breakfast. I need to check on the house and see what kind of damage the storm has done. You want to come with me?”

It was on the tip of her tongue to say she was busy and she had to work. Pressing her lips together, she smiled. “Yeah, I’d love to.”

He nodded. “How hard was that?”

  “Really hard?”

  “It will get easier.”

“I’m used to just doing everything else.” She shrugged. “I’m going to start doing that. Taking a break. Making sure I make my life easier.”

“Good. You’ve got me and I will take care of you, Meghan.”

“I’m not used to it,” she said.

“I’ll make sure you get used to it.”

She had so many other questions but she really didn’t want to spoil breakfast by asking them. There was no need to ask about the sleeping arrangements or where they were going when she had to go back to her apartment. Just the thought of her lonely space back in the city was almost too much for her to bear.

Pushing it all to the back of her mind, she planned to deal with it when the time forced her to. For now, she was only going to focus on enjoying the now. Everything else would fall into place, and she wouldn’t worry.

  ****

Mount didn’t know where all his words came from.

Seeing her nervous and knowing she was struggling, he wanted to put her at ease. The truth was he didn’t want to let her go, and he’d lied to her. No woman had ever gotten such a strong and instant attraction from him, but she was different. He knew that, and there was no point in hiding it.

  She was special.

Running a hand down his face, he tried to clear his thoughts. One taste, even a second, was never going to be enough.

Was there even a chance she would consider life here with him? Was he just hoping for stuff that was never going to happen?

He didn’t dwell on what could or couldn’t be, and instead, just thought about checking on the house.

Snow had fallen thick and fast overnight, which explained the sudden power outage. He’d found them both a pair of boots and he’d given her a pair of his socks to help ward off the cold. She was also wrapped in a shirt, sweater, jacket, and one of his jackets, a scarf, gloves, and hat. He was surprised she could move, but she looked so sweet.

“It has been so long since I’ve been in the snow.”

Right in front of him, he watched as she jumped up and down and then kicked out some snow toward his dogs. They were enjoying it as well, doing exactly the same as her. When they had enough, they’d make their way inside and go toward the log fire he’d already set up.

The house was warm, and the electric was back on, which was a blessing. There was another storm heading their way, but the house looked in perfect condition. He didn’t need to chop any more wood.

Mount stood, watching as she laughed, danced, and threw around some snow with her feet. She bent down, grabbed a handful, and winked at him. “I hope you’re ready.”

“You really want to do this?” Before he’d even finished, she threw the snowball, giving a giggle as it landed on his chest. He did no more than scoop some more up and as he threw it, she tried to dodge but he was a hell of a good shot, and he got her in the stomach. Within seconds, they were launching snowballs at each other, running away, and chasing each other. He caught her, diving but spinning so she didn’t fall to the floor. She landed on his body.

  She kissed him hard, moaning.

  “Make a snowman with me.”

“You want to make a snowman?”

“Yeah, it’ll be fun. So much fun.”

She laughed, getting to her feet, but he wanted to feel her next to him. Rather than pulling her down, he followed her. “Er, I’ve never … I don’t know how to make a snowman.”

  “You don’t?”

  “No.”

“Right. How have you never made a snowman?”

She looked around at the snow. “I’ve never taken the time.” She shrugged. “I know, I’m weird.”

“Not weird, but you now need some practice in having fun.” He bent down and together, they started making a snowman.

The dogs left after an hour and he stayed out in the snow with her for as long as she was able.

“I don’t think I can feel my body,” she said.

With their snowman complete with a hat and scarf, he took her back inside. After removing her outer clothes, he went straight to the fire, building it back up. He pulled her into his arms, and together, they warmed up.

  “I’m hungry again,” she said.

“I’ll sort out some dinner in a second.” He held her close, wanting to feel her against him and never let her go. Breathing in her scent, he felt his need awaken again. His cock hardened.

“I loved today,” she said. “I don’t remember a time I ever did this.”

  “Did what?”

“Just relax. Have fun. You know, I’d try to take days off but I would just end up back on my computer, typing away.”

  “It’s not healthy.”r />
“I know.” She sighed. “Thank you.”

  “What for?”

“For taking me. I don’t imagine you wanted anyone for company. I know William. He’s very demanding, isn’t he? He doesn’t really give you a chance to say no.”

“It’s why he’s such a damn good publisher and guy. I tried to cut off all my life from before, but he wouldn’t let me.”

“Why don’t you talk about your life before?” she asked. “Do you miss it?”

“Fuck no.” He couldn’t help but laugh.

  “William said you still work?”

“I do. I work every single day. The land, this life, I love to fix and repair things.”

“How do you pay for stuff?” She shook her head. “I’m sorry. I’m being so nosy. It really isn’t any of my business.”

“I built a company. Several technology firms. Yes, look at me with such surprise. I was a computer genius, and I knew how to write software and codes.”

  “You did?”

“Yeah, I did. The life, it wasn’t for me. I knew William from high school. We went to college together. We were each other’s crutch, you know. We relied on each other to make the other even more successful. When we had failings, we’d work to drive us both higher. When the time came, and he saw my company was slowly killing me, he showed me this piece of land for sale, along with my list.”

  “Your list?”

“I had a list of ambitions from high school. What I wanted to achieve in life. He told me that I was never going to get what I wanted if I was six feet under. Within a month, I sold my companies, bought this land, and never looked back.” He shrugged. “This is my way of telling you I’m a wealthy man, Meghan. I don’t need anything or want for anything. I’ve made it, and now I’m living my dream. Isn’t that what everyone wants?”

  Chapter Five

Hearing about Mount’s wealth made her feel a little uneasy. “I’m not a gold digger. I didn’t know.”

  “I know that.”

Her stomach growled again, interrupting them.

“I know you’re not. Are you warm enough?”

  She nodded.

“Come on, let’s make us some dinner. I’m starving.” He helped her off his lap, and she missed being in his arms the moment he let her go. Rather than linger, though, she walked into the kitchen and waited to see what he did.

She loved to cook but this was still his home, his domain, and she just had to wait and see.

“How do you feel about a tomato and garlic pasta?”

  “Love it.”

He got to work, and she was surprised to see him chopping up some tomatoes.

“I saw a little vegetable garden. Do you grow all of your own food?” she asked.

“I try to. It’s winter, so tomatoes aren’t exactly in season, but I like them. I’ve yet to master the art of preserving. Winter is harder to grow, but most of the winter and root vegetables are from the garden.”

  “It really does sound idyllic.”

  “I love it here.”

“You wouldn’t change it?” She had to wonder if he ever got lonely. She imagined it was easy to do so but didn’t say anything. Licking her dry lips, she watched as he started on an onion.

  He diced fast.

“The only thing missing for me is a family.”

  “A family?”

“Yes. A wife who could handle this life, and I want kids. Those bedrooms, I never anticipated them staying empty for so long.”

“You want a big family?” she asked.

“Yes. I was an only child.”

“What about your parents?” She was curious about everything in this man’s life. His parents, his life, his world.

“They died when I was in college. Car crash.”

  “Oh, I’m so sorry.”

  “What about you?” he asked.

“I don’t have any parents. I was in the foster system as a baby. Stayed there until it was time to leave.”

  “No foster parents? No adoption?”

“Nope. There was always another kid. Someone more outgoing. I was the kind of girl that liked to get lost in a book. For some reason, people didn’t like that. At least the ones who came to visit. It wasn’t so bad. I know some kids have it rough. I got used to it.”

“You ever want to find your parents?” he asked.

“No. I never saw the reason to go hunting for people who didn’t care about me and dumped me as soon as I was born. It’s what was on my file. Within days of me being alive, I was left on the doorstep of a foster home.” She shrugged. There was no reason for tears.

“Do you want to have a family of your own?”

She’d asked him so she didn’t see a reason to be mad at him for turning the question back on her. “As a girl, it was my dream.” She paused as he began to add the pasta to the pot of boiling water on the stove. It was so relaxing to watch him cook. She could stay here all day long. “I promised myself I’d have, like, a dozen kids, and any man I marry would know I wanted to have a big family.”

  “And yet, you’re still single.”

  “Yep, I’m single.”

  “Work?”

“Security really. I mean, how can I have all of those kids and a real family if I don’t have the means to take care of them?” she asked.

  “I can see your point.”

  She smiled.

He stirred the pasta and finished off his sauce. The scents of garlic, onion, and tomatoes. As he grabbed some basil, that filled the air as well. It all smelled amazing.

  Her mouth watered.

“What do you think of my home?” Mount asked.

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“When you got here, you looked terrified not to be able to be on the internet or working. What about now?”

She paused, thinking about her answer. “I love it here.” That was the truth.

  “You do?”

“Yeah. It’s calm and relaxing. I feel at peace. Don’t get me wrong, the lack of electricity last night freaked me out, but I think I can handle it.”

  “Good.”

He carried their bowls toward the table and she followed. Before she sat down to eat, Mount cupped her face and kissed her hard. She let out a moan, not wanting the kiss to end. It felt perfect to her.

When the kiss came to an end, she wanted to ask him why. Why did he stop? But she kept her mouth shut, instead, sitting down to enjoy their meal. She couldn’t believe how long they had spent outside in the cold. The snowman was fun to make, but just being around Mount was an experience she never wanted to give up.

  They ate in silence.

She stared at his hands and she couldn’t help herself but wonder what those could do to her.

  They were … intense.

Pressing her thighs together, she tried to focus on the meal in front of her. Mount served himself some seconds and once she finished, he didn’t even ask her, just served her some more.

By the end of the meal, she ordered him to go and sit down while she did the dishes. It wasn’t that late but she didn’t know how to proceed with the rest of the night.

Mount was enjoying a small glass of whiskey as she entered his sitting room.

“So, er, I’m kind of tired,” she said.

  He put his book down.

“I’m going to head up to bed.”

“Meghan, the only bed you’re going is mine,” he said.

Any other man, she’d shout and put him in his place. With Mount, this was what she wanted to hear, so rather than argue, she went right up to his room, stripped out of her clothing, and climbed into bed with no argument from her lips.

  ****

Mount didn’t know if he was ever going to let this woman go, and seeing as they’d only been together a handful of hours, that was fucking scary. After making his way upstairs, he stopped at his bedroom and saw her in bed, curled up. The lamp at the side of the bed was on, but he had no use for it. Flicking on the main light, he stared at her.

“Get out of bed,” he said.

  “Mount?”

“I don’t want to have to fight to see you. I want to see every inch of you.”

She climbed out of bed and as she came to stand in front of him, she looked nervous.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?” he asked. He reached out, putting a finger beneath her chin, forcing her to look up at him.

  “You think I’m beautiful?”

“You are.” He walked around her body, admiring every curve, every part of her. The fullness of her tits, the thickness of her hips, the rounded juiciness of her thighs. He certainly loved the shape of her full ass. “There is not a single part of you that isn’t beautiful.”

He finally put his hands on her, cupping her stomach before sliding up, holding her tits, feeling the weight of them within his grasp. Down he went to her hips, tightening his hold before touching her pussy.

She was already wet and as he slid a finger between her slit, he felt how slick she was. Sheer, fucking perfection. He had no problem with this woman.

Pushing a finger deep inside her, he began to fuck her with it. She spread her legs wide and he kissed her neck, sucking on her pulse. Glancing down her body, he saw how tight and hard those nipples were.

They were heaven, begging to be sucked, but soon.

He pulled his hand from her pussy to hear a whimper from her lips. He smiled. She was hungry for a cock. Mount moved her toward the bed, making her kneel on the edge so that he could look at her ass.

Spreading the mounds wide, he looked at her wet pussy and the tight, puckered hole of her anus.

He worked his fingers back inside her, watching her open up to him. Drawing them back, he slickened up her anus. He pressed against her hole and she gasped, tensing up.

  “It’s okay,” he said.

With his other hand, he reached between her spread thighs and started to finger her clit. She didn’t relax straight away but after a few seconds, she began to press back against him, and he didn’t stop his teasing. He continued to do so, fingering her asshole as he brought her closer to orgasm.

She whimpered his name, pressing against him.

He pushed past the tight ring of muscles, feeling her open up around him as he worked. Pushing and pressing, he slid a finger into her ass. “You know I’m going to be fucking this tight little asshole very soon, Meghan.”
