An Insane Love

  “Noted,” he said.

The rest of the way to my room went smoothly. Once I was in the room, I noticed that there was no TV in the room. Just a bed and a dresser. I opened the closet door, and there were clothes in the closet, not many, but there were clothes there. Just from a glance of the clothes, I could tell that the clothes would fit a six-foot-five frame like myself. There was only a pair of boots in the closet, and just from the looks of them, they were size a thirteen. After closing the closet door, I walked over and fell on the bed. My thoughts were all over the place. I assumed that coming here, my life would be different than the one I shared with my parents, but little did I know, my life was going to get worse.

  Boom! Boom! Boom!

The banging on the door brought me out of my daydream. The banging on the door meant that Alex was ready to tell me the truth about her whereabouts last night and the other shit she lied about. I stood up and pulled my headphones off. Taking the key out of my pocket, I opened the door, and she tried to jump on me, but her little five-foot-five frame was no match for me. One little shove against the wall was all I had to do to get her off me. She was screaming loudly, but I couldn’t hear her over the music. I pulled the remote out of my pocket and turned the blinking lights and music off.

“You ready to talk now?” I questioned her while eying her.

“I fucking hate you, Frank. I hate you! I hate you!” she screamed and tried to jump on me again.

“All I asked for is the truth. You don’t have to lie to me. Do I lie to you?” I calmly asked her.

“What? No, you don’t lie to me… about anything. You don’t care if it hurts my feelings or not!” she screamed again.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’m not going to pacify you. Ever. Where were you last night? See, when I texted you at 10:18 P.M., you said that you were at Club Woo having a drink with your friend. I then asked you what friend, and you responded by saying your friend Deshon from your yoga class. I believed you when you said that, Alexandria. Where have you been the other days you say you are going to your yoga class? I’m not going to ask you again. I don’t have a problem leaving you in there for forty more hours. Don’t fuck with me.”

“It is the truth!” she expressed.

“What’s the truth? Please don’t tell me that bullshit lie again, Alex.”

“I was with Deshon last night, and I have been going to yoga class. You just so damn insecure. You always questioning me. Always.”

I grabbed the bridge of my nose and sighed. I knew for a fact that she was lying. I hadn’t told her how I found out because I had been giving her a chance to tell me the truth.

“No, I’m going to tell you how I know you’re lying. This morning, I went to Starbucks to get a coffee, and guess who was in there? Deshon. What a small world it is. She couldn’t wait to approach me and tell me that she’d been missing you at your yoga class. She also gave me this card to give to you because she got a new number,” I said and pulled the card out of my pocket and held my hand out, but she didn’t take it.

Her light skin turned a light shade of red, and her eyes started welling up with tears. Tears didn’t move me. Ever. Not even if I cared about you, tears didn’t move me. I guess that was one of the parts that Alex hated about me. She swore that I was emotionally unavailable to her, but I wasn’t. Just because I didn’t show emotion the way that she thought I should didn’t mean that I was emotionally unavailable.

“I’m sorry, Frank. I’ve been cheating on you. If you want to break up with me, I’ll completely understand.” She sobbed.

I stood in front of her, trying to process what she was saying to me.

  “Again?” I questioned.

This wasn’t her first time cheating on me. She had cheated on me six times, and I forgave her each time.

“I’m sorry. I think I have a problem. I need to get help. Maybe we need some time apart to deal with this. I shouldn’t put you through this, Franklin. You’re a good man.”

Hearing her say that she had a problem, pissed me off. What kind of problem did she fucking have when I try to fuck this girl as much as I can? Shit, fucking her sometimes felt like a chore, and it was not as enjoyable. Then for her to tell me that she had a fucking problem pissed me off.

“You don’t have to tell me that I’m a good man. I know that shit. The only reason your head is not through that fucking wall is because I don’t fucking hit women. Who you fucked this time?” I questioned.

“I’m not going to tell you because you are going to kill him, Frank. I know you.”

“Ha! I’m glad you do.” I laughed. “But until you’re ready to tell me who you been fucking, guess what?”

  “What?”

I pressed the button on the remote, and the music and lights came on. I walked out of the room, leaving her in there. I locked the door from the outside. This time, I wasn’t going to stick around. I was going to go visit Mayhem because I needed a fucking drink and a blunt.

After typing in my code to the gate to Mayhem’s new crib, the ten-foot-tall gates slowly opened. My boy Mayhem now had three kids and a fucking wife. I never thought that my boy would have a wife, let alone three kids. Listen, my nigga used to be a hoe. A big hoe. That nigga fucked everything that moved and didn’t care who he hurt in the process, but when he got with Olena, that mothafucka took him down through there. Olena had his ass so damn wide open, he even came at me asking me if I fucked with her. I told his dumb ass not to fuck with Olena because I heard she had some killer pussy, but that nigga didn’t believe me, and now he was married to her crazy ass. Mayhem met his match with Olena though.

I pulled my 1966 Black Chevelle SS behind their family vehicle, a black Escalade. They must had just come from somewhere. The minute I approached the door, the door swung open, and Mayhem was standing there holding baby Pier Allen, and his twin daughters, Pryor the second and Prestyn latched to both of his legs. For some odd reason, they loved attaching themselves to people’s legs so they could walk with them. I chuckled at how cute they were and how he must have daddy duty while Olena did something.

“What up, family? You look stressed out. You straight?” Mayhem dapped me up with my free hand.

“Mane, give me my nephew.” I reached for Pier, and he handed him to me as I stepped in the house.

“Unkie Fwankkkk,” the twins turned and spoke to me at the same time.

I liked how they tried to say my name as best they could. I walked in the kitchen, and Olena was sitting there watching TV in her workout clothes, which reminded me of the reason I came over.

“Goddamn, three kids where?” I asked, referring to Olena’s tight body.

She was pregnant for damn near eighteen months straight because she was pregnant back to back. Not a stretch mark in sight, and her waist was still small. My nieces and nephew gave her some healthy weight though.

“Aye, boy! Don’t get f-u-c-k-e-d up about my wife,” Mayhem said behind me, careful not to curse around the girls because Olena would have a fit.

“Nun-uh, Frank, don’t hype me. Don’t hype me,” she said and started posing for the fake camera I pretended to have in my hand. “Listen, give me my son and wash your hands before you hold my baby. I don’t want him getting sick.”

  “What chu’ saying, Lee?”

“I’m saying that you could be carrying some germs.”

She took Pier out of my arms, and I walked over to the sink to wash my hands.

  “Where Alex at?”

  “Mane, Fuc—”

  Snap! Snap!

Mayhem snapped his fingers behind me.

“Forget that girl. She cheated on me… again.”

“I’m sorry, Frank. How you find out?” Olena asked me.

  “Ummm…”

“Frank, let’s talk, family… downstairs. Deuce and Pres, go to your mom, and let daddy talk to your uncle for a minute.”

“Okay!” they both said in unison and detached themselves from his legs.

  “Dang, they got
that twins thing down pat, don’t they?” I chuckled as we walked out of the kitchen.

“Hell yeah, with their bad asses.”

The minute we were downstairs in Mayhem’s man cave, he went over to the bar and fixed me a glass of Hennessy and Coke. The minute he handed me the glass, I took a large gulp of it. Money May knew exactly how I liked my drinks—more Hen than coke. He grabbed a water out of the fridge, sat across from me, and pulled a pre-rolled blunt out of the tray next to the couch. He fired up and handed it to me. After two pulls, I handed it to him.

“Bro, what the fuck going on, man? Alex cheated on you again? With who, and how you find out?”

I held my head down because Mayhem was about to be pissed about what I was about to say. He hated the fact that I put Alex in The Box, but that was how I got shit done. He knew that about me. I got quiet for a moment before I ran down the story to him. He stared at me before shaking his head.

“Frank, how long she been in there?” he asked and stood up.

I shrugged at his question, knowing damn well I knew the answer. I already knew that he was about to try and go rescue her. He was always rescuing her, and that shit pissed me off.

“Frank!” he called my name, but I kept ignoring him.

“Look, everything I fucking do is for her. Everything. She told me that she wanted a nigga with tats, and guess what? My body tatted the fuck up. She wanted me to get my dick pierced, and guess what? My dick pierced. I never wanted none of this shit, but I wanted to make her happy, but she keeps fucking cheating on me, dog! The nerve of her to tell me that I’m a good man. I know I’m a fucking good man. You ain’t got to tell me. The only time I slipped up is when I fucked on Taiwan. That’s it! She knows about that because I told her. Otherwise, she would have never found out!” I vented while Mayhem stood over me and watched me intensely.

  “Frank…”

“Then the nerve of her to tell me that she got a problem, and if I wanted to break up with her, I could. Nigga… what the fuck does that even mean?”

“Can I be honest with you, bro?” he said and sat down.

I nodded my head and took a long sip of my drink.

“It sounds like she just wants to break up with you. Why she smutting her body out to make you want to break up with her is beyond me. If she wanted to break up with you, would you let her go peacefully?”

“Nigga, I gave this girl five years of my life. She’s the only other person I’m close to besides you. Y’all are the only people that I have in my life. I can’t start over, Mayhem. It took me forever to get to a place with her where I could even trust her a little, and she do this?”

  “Do you trust her though?”

“Yeah, nigga. Well, at least I used to. Fuck that shit.”

“Well, why won’t you open up to her about your parents? Why you won’t tell her about your old life?”

“‘Cause that shit ain’t important, nigga. How is knowing that going to benefit her or me? I’ll answer that for you. It’s not.”

“She told you before that she doesn’t feel close to you. Could that be a reason why? I’m just trying to help.”

  I shrugged my shoulders.

“Let’s go, man,” he said and stood up again.

I followed him out of his man cave and back up the stairs. We were walking down the hall when I heard Olena laugh out loud.

  “Girl! What!” Olena yelled.

“Yes, girl! I’ll probably be coming home soon. I don’t know yet. I want to celebrate my birthday there, but you know how Romero can be,” Taiwan’s voice came through the speaker.

“F-u-c-k him. We have to celebrate your birthday the right way. Drunk and high. You know how we used to do,” Olena said and laughed.

“Yeah, when you weren’t married with kids. Don’t f-u-c-k with me, Olena Bailey,” Mayhem said, rounding the corner, startling her.

“Shut up, Mayhem. She can have a day of fun, and if I come home, that’s what we are going to do, and you are going to be on daddy duty.” Taiwan chuckled.

I walked behind Olena to see that she was on Facetime with Taiwan. I heard Taiwan smack her lips. If I looked at her, I knew that she was rolling her eyes.

  “Franklin,” she spoke curtly.

  “Taiwan,” I said back.

The whole energy in the room shifted, so Olena told her that she would call her back.

“I’m about to go over to Frank’s for a hot little minute. I’ll be back in a minute,” Mayhem told her.

“Everything okay?” she asked, being able to read him perfectly. She then focused on me and said, “Frank, please tell me you didn’t…” She trailed off the last part of her sentence.

“Nah, even though I should have.”

I knew she was talking about if I killed her or not. I hugged the kids and placed a kiss on Olena’s cheek and walked outside to wait for Mayhem. I looked at this brand-new seven bedroom and eight-bathroom house that Mayhem had purchased for his wife and children. I couldn’t help but to be jealous because, contrary to popular belief, this was what I wanted. I wanted kids and a wife. Hell, I wanted five kids, but Alex was tripping on me. That bird was talking about she wanted to be married before she had kids like I hadn’t dropped down on my knee for her. I have proposed to her three times and she turned me down each time, saying she wasn’t ready. She said she wanted a house. I got her that, and she still was saying no.

Everything she said she wanted before she got married, I got her, but I still couldn’t get my kids. I told her that I would adopt if she didn’t want to mess her body up, but the answer was still no. She took her birth control faithfully. She tried to make me use condoms and shit. I didn’t know what I did to her for her to treat me this way. I had been nothing but good to her. Maybe I did need to let her go.

Mayhem walked out of the house and jumped in the driver side of his truck. I jumped in the passenger side, and we pulled off. The ride was quiet… eerily quiet. When he got quiet like that, I knew that he was getting ready to say some shit that I didn’t like.

“I’mma have Emma get the guest house ready for you. Stay with us for two weeks and let her get her mind right. Don’t even be talking to her and shit. Aight? We are going to go over here, let her out this room, and you are going to come back to my crib.”

I didn’t reply to his ass, but I knew he was right.

“Aye, I know we ain’t never talked about this, but what made you… you and Taiwan?” he asked me.

It had been over a year since I came over to his old house and attacked Taiwan. We never talked about it or the reason I did it. Shit, I didn’t know why I did it. I think it was lust. The way she argued with me. Her attitude. Don’t get me wrong, Taiwan’s little brown ass was sexy as fuck, but I should have never done that, especially since she was a ‘sugar baby’ as she called it. After I could barely fit inside of her, I would have never thought that she fucked for money.

“I don’t know. I shouldn’t have done it. Hell, or maybe I should have. It’s not like Alex ass had been faithful to me. She had cheated on me a couple times before that shit with Taiwan even happened.”

“You can’t fight fire with fire, bro.”

“Maybe I need to. Have an open relationship or something. I don’t want to lose Alex, man. You know how I was when I thought I had lost you. You two are the only two people I have in this world, man.”

He chuckled and shook his head like it was a fucking joke. A little over a year ago, Mayhem was drugged by a dumb ass bitch named Nobie. Never have I been so glad for someone to be dead. Anyway, Nobie drugged him and raped my guy. Olena walked in on their ass and tased both of their asses. His ass died a couple of times, but they brought him back to life. A nigga was losing his damn mind. None of the Baileys was answering their phone, and I couldn’t get any information. All I was hearing was that Olena had killed Mayhem. Shit was bad. I didn’t know where he was for seven whole days. I was having nervous breakdowns every hour on the hour. I even had a loaded gun, getting ready to take
my own life, but Alex had talked me off the ledge. The attachment I had to him was serious and nothing to joke about. Not on no gay shit, it was just that Mayhem was the only person in this world that knew everything about me. Mr. Bailey knew a little about me, but not everything. My only friend. Saved my life several times. We’d get to that later, though.

We pulled up to my house, and I got out. I looked at my watch and saw that she had been in there for a total of seven hours. She should be ready to talk now. I opened the door to my house and walked in with Mayhem behind me. He put his hands over his ears because of the loud ass music. I handed him my headphones and put on my spare pair and walked down to the basement to The Box. I opened the door and turned the lights and music off. Alex was curled up in the corner shaking with her hands over her ears. Mayhem pulled his headphones off and rushed over to her.

“Alex, baby girl, get up,” Mayhem said.

He helped her up. The minute she got on her feet, she tried to bum-rush me as if I would move. She started wailing on me.

“You crazy mothafucka! You crazy mothafucka! I hate the day I fucking laid eyes on you! I hate everything about you!” she screamed at the top of her lungs while hitting me.

I managed to catch her wrist, and I started shaking her already delirious ass.

“Look, I don’t hit females, but if you hit me again, I’mma lay your ass out like you a fucking nigga, and I mean that shit from the bottom of my heart,” I said and pushed her back.

She ran up again but thought twice when she saw my fist balled up at my sides. There was no way I would ever hit a woman with a closed fist. She spit at me and ran out of the room. I looked at Mayhem, and he shook his head.

“Bruh, get ya fucking clothes and let’s go, dog!” he ordered me and walked out the room.

I followed behind him, and the minute I walked out of the room, I heard Alex slam the door. I didn’t know where she was going, and quite frankly, I didn’t give a damn. She thought she was pissed, I was pissed too, but fuck her. Her dumb ass would be back.
